  • Modern telecommunication switching systems are SPC(Stored Program Control) machines handling voice, data and other kinds of traffic, in an environment which tends to be fully digital switching and transmission. The throughput of such systems is determined by the real time capacity of its centralized or distributed control processors and by the traffic capacity of the switching network. Designers must verify the traffic and call processing capacity of the switching system and check its performance under traffic load before it is put into service. Verification of traffic and call processing capacity of switching systems is one of the problems treated by teletraffic studies ; teletraffic studies are based on stochastic process, queueing theory, simulations and other quantitative methods of decision making. This study suggests the general methodology to evaluate the throughput and performance of the ISDN switching system. TDX-10 ISDN switching system are employed to give illustrative examples of the methodologies discussed in this study.

  • Like other computer vision research trends, research using satellite images was able to achieve rapid growth with the development of GPU-based computer computing capabilities and deep learning methodologies related to image processing. As a result, satellite images are being used in various fields, and the number of studies on how to use satellite images is increasing. Therefore, in this paper, we will introduce the field of research and utilization of satellite images and datasets that can be used for research using satellite images. First, studies using satellite images were collected and classified according to the research method. It was largely classified into a Regression-based Approach and a Classification-based Approach, and the papers used by other methods were summarized. Next, the datasets used in studies using satellite images were summarized. This study proposes information on datasets and methods of use in research. In addition, it introduces how to organize and utilize domestic satellite image datasets that were recently opened by AI hub. In addition, I would like to briefly examine the limitations of satellite image-related research and future trends.

  • Seismic risk management has two main technical aspects: to recommend the construction of high-performance buildings and other structures using earthquake-resistant designs or evaluate existing ones, and to prepare emergency plans using realistic seismic scenarios. An overview of seismic risk assessment methodologies in Croatia is provided with details regarding the components of the assessment procedures: hazard, vulnerability and exposure. For Croatia, hazard is presented with two maps and it is expressed in terms of the peak horizontal ground acceleration during an earthquake, with the return period of 95 or 475 years. A standard building typology catalogue for Croatia has not been prepared yet, but a database for the fourth largest city in Croatia is currently in its initial stage. Two methods for earthquake vulnerability assessment are applied and compared. The first is a relatively simple and fast analysis of potential seismic vulnerability proposed by Croatian researchers using damage index (DI) as a numerical value indicating the level of structural damage, while the second is the Macroseismic method.

  • The use of commercial silkworm hybrids resistant to important silkworm diseases is economical and better option particularly in tropical areas. This necessitated the evolution of productive bivoltine silkworm breeds non-susceptible to $BmDNV_1$. Non-susceptibility to $BmDNV_1$, infection was found to be controlled by a single recessive gene, nsd-l or a dominant gene, Nid-l. A major dominant/recessive gene confers resistance to $BmDNV_1$, from potent donor parents have been transferred to 10 productive but susceptible bivoltine silkworm strains through conventional breeding methods. By utilizing these breeds prepared 25 hybrids $(5{\times}5)$ and hybrid evaluation was carried out to identify most promising hybrids resistant to $BmDNV_1$. All these hybrids are inoculated with $BmDNV_1$ inoculum along with productive control hybrid $CSR2{\times}CSR4$ and reared under standard rearing procedure. Based on inoculated rearing and test reeling results, two most promising hybrids $(CSR18DR{\times}CSR29DR\;and\;CSR21DR{\times}CSR50DR)$ were selected for commercial exploitation. The selected hybrids have shown a survival rate of >85% with productive traits, where as control hybrid have shown 11.1% survival with inferior cocoon traits. The methodologies adopted were discussed.

  • The surface design in architecture plays a role as an indicator that symbolizes cultures and styles, in accordance with the course of history and the standards of the time. The surface design that determines the facade of an architectural structure allows us to have a more clear understanding about the functions, programs and structures, as well as the periodical concept of the architects than any other components of the architecture. The purpose of this paper was to examine how architectural surface designs were realized, using commonly-used materials. This study provides meaningful implications, in that it suggests common features in terms of design methodologies (between architecture and non-architecture fields), and presented new possibilities for contemporary architectural surface designs through the classification of building system methods depending on fabric properties, and through the case study analysis of architectural surface designs; in addition, the results of this study could be utilized as basic data for future studies on the possibility of the expression of surface designs across a broader domain.

  • Temporal action detection (TAD) in untrimmed videos is an important but a challenging problem in the field of computer vision and has gathered increasing interest recently. Although most studies on action in videos have addressed action recognition in trimmed videos, TAD methods are required to understand real-world untrimmed videos, including mostly background and some meaningful action instances belonging to multiple action classes. TAD is mainly composed of temporal action localization that generates temporal action proposals, such as single action and action recognition, which classifies action proposals into action classes. However, the task of generating temporal action proposals with accurate temporal boundaries is challenging in TAD. In this paper, we discuss TAD technologies that are considered high performance in terms of representative TAD studies based on deep learning. Further, we investigate evaluation methodologies for TAD, such as benchmark datasets and performance measures, and subsequently compare the performance of the discussed TAD models.

  • This paper is concerned with development of a performance evaluation model for material handling system in cellular manufacturing system based on multi-attributes analysis method. We used the AHP(analytic hierarchy process) and fuzzy set ranking methodologies to overcome the special decision problems; those of multi -objective, multi-criterion, and multi-attributes. We proposed a 3-step approaches and we developed a systemic and practical computer program to solve the problems in the proposed methods. Computational experiments are then performed to cellular manufacturing system and show the effectiveness of the proposed model.

  • Computer-aided diagnosis of breast cancer is an important medical approach. In this research paper, we focus on combining two major methodologies, namely fuzzy base systems and the evolutionary genetic algorithms and on applying them to the Saudi Arabian breast cancer diagnosis database, to aid physicians in obtaining an early-computerized diagnosis and hence prevent the development of cancer through identification and removal or treatment of premalignant abnormalities; early detection can also improve survival and decrease mortality by detecting cancer at an early stage when treatment is more effective. Our hybrid algorithm, the genetic-fuzzy algorithm, has produced optimized systems that attain high classification performance, with simple and readily interpreted rules and with a good degree of confidence.

  • The mobile tole-cardiology system is the new research area that support an ubiquitous health care based on mobile telecommunication networks. Although there are many researches presenting the modeling concepts of a GSM-based mobile telemedical system, practical application needs to be considered both compression performance and error corruption in the mobile environment. This paper evaluates three wavelet ECG compression algorithms over CDMA networks. The three selected methods are Rajoub using EPE thresholding, Embedded Zerotree Wavelet(EZW) and Wavelet transform Higher Order Statistics Coding(WHOSC) with linear prediction. All methodologies protected more significant information using Forward Error Correction coding and measured not only compression performance in noise-free but also error robustness and delay profile in CDMA environment. In addition, from the field test we analyzed the PRD for movement speed and the features of CDMA 1X. The test results show that Rajoub has low robustness over high error attack and EZW contributes to more efficient exploitation in variable bandwidth and high error. WHOSC has high robustness in overall BER but loses performance about particular abnormal ECG.
