UAV 운영 신뢰성 개선을 위한 SATURN 통신망 항재밍 프레임 오율과 해밍코드 반복 전송 향상 기술 (Improved Anti-Jamming Frame Error Rate and Hamming Code Repetitive Transmission Techniques for Enhanced SATURN Network Reliability Supporting UAV Operations)

  • 기술 발전에 따라 UAV(Unmanned aerial vehicle)의 성능이 향상되고 가격이 낮아지면서 미래에는 다양한 분야에서 UAV의 활용도가 높아질 것으로 예상된다. UAV를 안정적으로 운용하기 위해서는 제어 신호와 영상정보 통신을 유지하는 것이 매우 중요하며 예기치 못한 재밍 공격에 통신이 교란되면 치명적인 UAV 추락 사고가 발생할 수 있다. 반대로 원자력발전소 등의 주요 시설을 보호해야 하는 입장에서는 적군의 UAV들과 민간 목적으로 사용하는 상용 드론들의 위협을 고려 해야할 필요성이 있다. 본 연구에서는 SATURN(Second generation Anti-jam Tactical UHF Radio for NATO)과 같은 UHF 무전기를 사용한 UAV 설계 시 FEC(Forward error correction) 기술 중 하나인 해밍코드와 MSK(Minimum Shift Keying) 변조를 사용하는 시스템에 반복 전송 기법과 결합하여 항재밍 성능을 높여 UAV 운영 환경에서 지연시간이 낮은 안정적인 통신링크를 유지하도록 제안한다.

에너지 효율적인 데이터 수집을 이용한 LEACH 기반 무전 센서 네트워크의 수명 연장 (Prolonging Lifetime of the LEACH Based Wireless Sensor Network Using Energy Efficient Data Collection)

  • 애드혹 네트워크의 실용 영역인 무선 센서 네트워크에서 센서 노드는 배터리에 의해 동작하고 일반적으로 한번 배치된 후 다시 회수 되지 않는다. 따라서 각각의 센서 노드는 한정된 에너지로 감지하고 통신해야 하며, 에너지 효율성은 무선 센서 네트워크의 수명을 결정하는 핵심 설계 요소로서 활발히 연구되고 있고 근래에는 크로스 레이어 최적화를 통해 더욱 개선되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 무선 센서 네트워크 시스템인 ZigbeX 플랫폼에서 센서 노드의 전송 출력 제어를 통하여 데이터 수집 과정에서 소모되는 에너지를 절약하는 새로운 기법을 제안하여 구현하고 실험 및 측정을 통하여 성능 개선 효과를 입증한다. 클러스터 멤버를 구성하는 각 센서 노드에서 클러스터 헤드로 데이터를 전송하는 과정에서 멤버 노드의 송신 출력을 통신 가능한 적정 수준으로 낮춤으로써 에너지를 절약하게 된다. 각 멤버 노드는 클러스터 헤드로부터 수신한 패킷의 RSSI(Received Signal Strength Indicator) 값을 기반으로 하여 자신의 송신 출력을 조절한다. 즉 자신이 전송한 패킷을 클러스터 헤드가 안전하게 수신할 수 있는 적정 수준으로 출력을 낮춤으로써 에너지를 절약하게 된다. ZigbeX 플랫폼 상에서 구현한 프로토콜을 자체 개발한 패킷 분석기를 이용하여 반복 측정한 결과에 의하면, 제안한 출력 제어 기법을 사용함으로써 통신량의 대부분을 차지하는 데이터 수집 과정에서의 에너지가 절약되어 네트워크 수명이 최대 21.9% 증가됨을 확인할 수 있었다.

  • Graphene is very interesting 2 dimensional material providing unique properties. Especially, graphene has been investigated as a stretchable and transparent conductor due to its high mobility, high optical transmittance, and outstanding mechanical properties. On the contrary, high sheet resistance of extremely thin monolayer graphene limits its application. Artificially stacked multilayer graphene is used to decrease its sheet resistance and has shown improved results. However, stacked multilayer graphene requires repetitive and unnecessary transfer processes. Recently, growth of multilayer graphene has been investigated using a chemical vapor deposition (CVD) method but the layer controlled synthesis of multilayer graphene has shown challenges. In this paper, we demonstrate controlled growth of multilayer graphene using a two-step process with multi heating zone low pressure CVD. The produced graphene samples are characterized by optical microscope (OM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Raman spectroscopy is used to distinguish a number of layers in the multilayer graphene. Its optical and electrical properties are also analyzed by UV-Vis spectrophotometer and probe station, respectively. Atomic resolution images of graphene layers are observed by high resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM).

Al-Cu 합금 전극막 구조를 갖는 사다리형 SAW filter의 RF-고전력 내구성 특성 고찰 (A Study on RF High Power Durability of Al-Cu Alloy Electrodes Used in Ladder-type SAW(surface acoustic wave) Filters)

  • As power durable RF SAW filters, AL-(0∼2wt%)Cu alloy multi-layered thin electrodes were deposited on 42° LiTaO$_3$ piezoelectric substrates by magnetron sputtering process, and then ladder-type RF SAW filters, satisfying the electrical specification of CDMA transmission band, were fabricated through optimizing SAW resonator structures. The temperature of film electrodes in SAW filter was increased with RF power, and reached the maxima to cause a failure of SAW filters at the cut-off frequencies of the RF filter band. As RF power increases, the electrodes of Al-Cu alloy showed higher power durability than that of pure Al. The multi-layer laminated film of Al-1wt.% Cu/Cu/Al-1wt%Cu resulted in the best power durability up to 4W of RF power. Every film electrode, however, was destroyed within seconds whenever applying a critical RF power to SAW filters, regardless of the composition and structure of film electrodes. The breakdown of film electrodes under FR power seems to believe due to the fatigue of electrodes caused by repetitive cyclic stress of surface acoustic wave, which is amplified as RF power increases.

국내산 소나무 슬라이스 기법을 통한 조명디자인 개발연구 (Lighting Design through Slice techniques of Domestic Pine)

  • This study aims to find new solutions to the problem of utilization of materials and techniques represented in the development of modern lighting design. LED is an important component in modern lighting design and pine tree is one of the most popular domestic wood in furniture design in Korea. In this study, design is developed into various types of furniture such as a table, a chest, and a lighting, by researching manufacturing process and examining the use of slicing pine tree. The technique of slicing pine tree is a simple linear arrangement that was traditionally used in wooden furniture in Lee dynasty, with an emphasis on repetitive rhythm. The slicing technology is used to expand the usage of domestic pine tree. The beauty of natural wood is expressed with the transmission of light by applying this technique to the lighting design. It also brings new communication in between artificial lighting and natural wood combining this traditional technique and LED lighting in design. Finally, this study suggests particular value through the convergence of analog and digital by using the traditional wooden technique that keeps natural wood prints and new digital technology by using LED lighting. More discussions and research about this subject are expected continuously through this study.

Echinacoside, an active constituent of Herba Cistanche, suppresses epileptiform activity in hippocampal CA3 pyramidal neurons

  • Echinacoside, an active compound in the herb Herba Cistanche, has been reported to inhibit glutamate release. In this study, we investigated the effects of echinacoside on spontaneous excitatory synaptic transmission changes induced by 4-aminopyridine (4-AP), by using the in vitro rat hippocampal slice technique and whole-cell patch clamp recordings from CA3 pyramidal neurons. Perfusion with echinacoside significantly suppressed the 4-AP-induced epileptiform activity in a concentration-dependent manner. Echinacoside reduced 4-AP-induced increase in frequency of spontaneous excitatory postsynaptic currents (sEPSCs) but it did not affect the amplitude of sEPSCs or glutamate-activated currents, implicating a presynaptic mechanism of action. Echinacoside also potently blocked sustained repetitive firing, which is a basic mechanism of antiepileptic drugs. These results suggest that echinacoside exerts an antiepileptic effect on hippocampal CA3 pyramidal neurons by simultaneously decreasing glutamate release and blocking abnormal firing synchronization. Accordingly, our study provides experimental evidence that echinacoside may represent an effective pharmacological agent for treating epilepsy.

Fine Structure of Cardiac Sarcomeres in the Black Widow Spider Latrodectus mactans

  • Fine structural characteristics of the cardiac muscle and its sarcomere organization in the black widow spider, Latrodectus mactans were examined using transmission electron microscopy. The arrangement of cardiac muscle fibers was quite similar to that of skeletal muscle fibers, but they branched off at the ends and formed multiple connections with adjacent cells. Each cell contained multiple myofibrils and an extensive dyadic sarcotubular system consisting of sarcoplasmic reticulum and T-tubules. Thin and thick myofilaments were highly organized in regular repetitive arrays and formed contractile sarcomeres. Each repeating band unit of the sarcomere had three apparent striations, but the H-zone and M-lines were not prominent. Myofilaments were arranged into distinct sarcomeres defined by adjacent Z-lines with relatively short lengths of $2.0{\mu}m$ to $3.3{\mu}m$. Cross sections of the A-band showed hexagon-like arrangement of thick filaments, but the orbit of thin filaments around each thick filament was different from that seen in other vertebrates. Although each thick filament was surrounded by 12 thin filaments, the filament ratio of thin and thick myofilaments varied from 3:1 to 5:1 because thin filaments were shared by adjacent thick filaments.

센서 네트워크에서 클러스터 헤드의 load-balancing을 통한 에너지 효율적인 클러스터링 (An Energy-Efficient Clustering Using Load-Balancing of Cluster Head in Wireless Sensor Network)

  • 무선 센서 네트워크(Wireless Sensor Network)에서 라우팅 방식은 에너지 효율 측면에서 데이터의 전송량을 줄일 수 있는 클러스터링 방식이 사용된다. 하지만 클러스터링 방식은 클러스터 헤드 노드의 에너지 소모가 많은 문제점이 있다. 클러스터 헤드 노드의 에너지 소모가 많은 문제를 보완하기 위한 방식으로 클러스터 헤드 노드의 재 선출을 통해 에너지 소모를 분산하는 동적 클러스터링(dynamic clustering) 방식이 사용되고 있다. 그러나 동적 클러스터링 방식의 경우 클러스터 헤드 노드를 재선출할 때마다 클러스터 구조가 바뀌게 되며, 이로 인한 에너지 소모가 발생한다. 즉 지금까지 연구된 동적 클러스터링 방식은 많은 에너지를 소모하는 클러스터 헤드 노드 선출 및 클러스터 형성의 셋업(set-up) 과정이 반복적으로 일어나는 문제점이 있다. 따라서 본 논문은 반복적인 셋업의 에너지 소모 문제를 해결하기 위해 클러스터는 고정하고, 클러스터 내의 클러스터 헤드 노드를 Round-Robin으로 선출하는 RRCH(Round-Robin Cluster Header)방식을 제안하였다. RRCH방식은 한번 구성된 클러스터 내에서 각 센서 노드(sensor node)의 지속적이고 균형적인 에너지 소모를 이루어, LEACH방식처럼 셋업 과정이 반복적으로 일어나지 않게 하는 에너지 효율적인 방식이다. 이 제안의 타당성을 모의실험을 통해 확인하였다.

희생양극법을 이용한 레일부식 저감 방안에 관한 연구 (A Study on Mitigation of Rail Corrosion using Sacrificial Anode Cathodic Protection Method)

  • A railway rail will be corroded by the repetitive sea wind and fog in the splash and tidal zone such as Youngjong grand bridge. And these rusts of rail could be increased by increasing service period, and it frequently occurred the safety accidents or disorders in electrical problem. In this study, the sacrificial anode cathodic protection method was proposed as a measures for reducing the corrosion of the railway rails in the oceanic climate conditions. As the results of immersion test using the salt water during four months, the sacrificial anode cathodic protection method using the aluminum anode(Al-anode) was evaluated that a distinct effect on corrosion reduction in the rails. Therefore the sacrificial anode cathodic protection method was experimentally proven that a disorders in aspects electric and signal of railway operation condition such as direct fixation track system in Youngjong grand bridge could be prevented by reducing rust falling from the rail. In addition, the installation conditions of the anodes directly affect the transmission range of corrosion potential, the sectional loss of anode, and the corrosion reduction effect. Therefore, to expect the corrosion reduction effect of rails under the oceanic climate conditions for railway track, it was important to adopted the appropriate spacing of anode installation by considering the actual field conditions.

Comparison of PFGE, IS6110-RFLP, and 24-Locus MIRU-VNTR for Molecular Epidemiologic Typing of Mycobacterium tuberculosis Isolates with Known Epidemic Connections

  • Two molecular epidemiologic methods, IS6110 restriction fragment length polymorphism (IS6110-RFLP) and 24-locus mycobacterial interspersed repetitive unit-variable-number tandem repeat (MIRU-VNTR), are used worldwide in studies of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB). Conversely, because of its poor resolution, pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) is not widely used for MTB. In this study, we improved the 24-locus MIRU-VNTR and PFGE protocols and compared the effectiveness of these approaches for the molecular typing of MTB using 75 clinical isolates obtained from a cohort investigation of high-risk populations infected with MTB. The 24-locus MIRU-VNTR method demonstrated superior discriminatory ability, followed by PFGE and IS6110-RFLP. Next, we analyzed six isolates with clear epidemiologic connections; that is, isolates from patients who attended the same school. IS6110-RFLP and PFGE identified these samples as the same type. By contrast, according to MIRU-VNTR, two isolates differed from four other isolates at one locus each; one isolate was identified as Mtub29 and the other as QUB-26. In summary, the 24-locus MIRU-VNTR assay was the most useful molecular typing method among the three methods investigated due to its discriminatory power, short time required, and availability as an epidemiologic investigation tool. PFGE was the second-best method. Compared with the other loci assessed in the 24-locus MIRU-VNTR assay, the Mtub29 and QUB-26 loci appeared to exhibit greater variability during transmission.
