  • The most of former schools facility have been planed and constructed with cement liquid waterproofing which is moth to be desired fir behavior of structure. However. It cause to decline safety for structure and also increase repairing cost that by leakage to behavior for thermal effects, Moreover, It is necessary for establishment fundamental counterplan of maintenance for schools facility to improve educational environment in budget support and proper diagnostic tech. and evaluation, repair reinforcement. In present paper, Firstly, we analyze out leakage and defect of schools facility of ㅇㅇ district office of education. Secondly, suggest the proper diagnostic tech. as leakage factor to develope efficiency of using space for durability and safety from leakage with suggestion the proper diagnostic.

A Study on Lee Han-Cheol's Career in the Field of Historic Building Surveying, Repairing and Writings (이한철(李漢哲)의 고건축 실측·수리 활동과 저술에 관한 연구)

  • This paper studied Lee Han-Choel's career who was known as the first Korean who had participated in several survey and repair projects of Korean historic buildings as a field engineer during the Japanese colonial era. This paper investigated documents and drawings to find out what he had done specifically in the field, and distinguished the records he had written by handwriting comparison method. In addition, the author analyzed the contents of the articles he published and clarified their significance in Korean architectural history. Through this study, the author expected to clarify Lee's historical status as the first Korean modern expert in the field of historic building conservation, and to supplement the research for the history of Korean during the Japanese colonial era.

A Study on The Strength Evaluation of welded Joints for Degraded Material (열화재 용접부의 강도평가에 관한 연구)

  • Welding is used not only during the shipbuilding, but also during the repairing of ships. While repairing of ships, it is inevitable to weld new materials with degraded materials. In this case, it is predicted that the strength of both the sections is not identical each other. In this study, the respective welded joints in terms of mechanical properties such as microstructure, mechanical strength and fatigue crack propagation, with the component obtained from the barge used for a long-term period, were analyzed. It was found that the material degradation had a significant effect on the welded joints. The fatigue crack propagation in welded sections showed a big difference. The rate of fatigue crack growth of degraded material for both heat affected zone and parent metal was faster than that of new material. By contrast, The result within identical materials showed that the heat-affected zone was slower than that of parent metal

  • In this study, characteristic of new materials for repairing/reinforcement of sea and underwater structures using urethane were studied experimentally. As a results, following their good result was obtained. Materials and construction methods due to a chemical reaction, so no seams, shape or form, regardless of the variety of civil engineering in the field can be applied. Fast workability, hardening existing concrete compared with 80% in shortening. Than the existing large concrete pouring construction cost could be reduced by more than 30%.

  • Examples for application of cultural properties using Infrared Reflectography System as method of investigation on mural paintings and letters are given. This work is carried out according to asking of examination on inner layer paintings and letters in order to conserve the mural paintings discovered in the course of repairing ancient architectures. It is difficult to find the inner layer paintings and fine decorative line, but we can be observed by using Infrared Reflectography System and thus these results can be used as original rebuilding and drawings of mural paintings. Also building-repairing year, building participant though the investigation of letters written on the roof wood can be known.

  • If we build new building after demolition of commercial building that is located in the downtown, it will be caused a social and environmental problem as wasting of resources and generating of waste. In this study, I investigated about remodel ins, this conclusion is given below. 1. Reconstruction cost is 2.1 times, and construction period is 1.4 times as much remodeling. So remodeling has an advantage. 2. For repairing and reinforcing timeworn building, we reinforced it as using carbon fiber sheet (girder, slab) and injecting method steel plate bonding Also, we tried to maintain efficiency of new building as using epoxy to protect concrete crack. 3. In the side of waste products and cost, remodeling has much more advantage than reconstruct. But demolition used construction period much. Because it had to be reused as repairing and reinforcing. And there was no difference between remodeling cost and reconstruct cost. If we develop research with enterprise.university.laboratory to exploit material and equipment and to train specialized engineer who will has a capacity to know construct repair and reinforce, it can be attribute to prevail remodeling in new construct market.

  • Recently, repair mortars have been mainly used for repairing old concrete structures. In this study, a new repair mortar including shotcrete admixture, slag, silica fume, sulphate and calcium carbonate, was developed for repairing shotcrete layer and the fresh properties and mechanical characteristics of the repair mortar was measured, Test results showed that the shortcrete admixture and other additives reduce the final setting time from about 7 hours to within 20 minutes and increase very early strength and stiffness (within 5 hours after cast).

  • All the submarine cable lines have been repaired restored and newly installed since 1970' s they were installed by the foreign technician around the islands off the southern and western coast of Korean peninsula. But April, 10th, 1998, for the first time in Korea, we Korean team of technicains succeeded in repairing and restoring the troubled cable lines from HEUGIL island to MASAG island, WANDO county, CHUN-NAM province. This job was done only by applying our newly researched and developed technology. The troubled cable lines were connected again by this technology.
