Autohydrolysis at different temperature levels was applied as industrial hemp pretreatment technique for glucose generation. Main structural components removed by autohydrolysis was xylan, which is more sensitive in acidic hydrolysis condition than cellulose or lignin. Higher temperature reaction conditions promoted more biomass components (xylan) removal than lower temperature, which led to better respond to enzymatic saccharification of residual biomass after autohydrolysis. With $185^{\circ}C$ and 60 min, saccharification degree was 53.0% of cellulose in hemp woody core biomass.

This study In order to reduce the amount of cement that generates a large amount of carbon dioxide and attempts to find a recycling method to solve environmental problems by using biomass fly ash. Experiments were conducted according to replacement ratio of biomass fly ash based on GGBFS, The test items are flowability, air content, unit volume weight, water absorption, flexural strength and compressive strength. As a result of the experiment, as increased replacement ratio of biomass fly ash, the flowability and air content was increased. As increased replacement ratio, the density was decreased and water absorption was increased. The compressive strength tended to decrease as increased replacement ratio. The flexural strength tended to increased as increased replacement ratio.
To reduce the hydrogen production cost through the utilizing the oxygen and improving the capacity factor of water electrolysis used to energy storage of renewable energy, the hybrid hydrogen production process which has dual operating concept of using the water electrolysis as energy storage and oxygen production process for biomass gasification was proposed. Moreover, Techno-economic analysis on this system was quantitatively performed.
In this study, the reusability of the Fenton oxidation solution was evaluated to reduce the cost of the pretreatment process. Biomass was sequential subjected to Fenton oxidation-hydrothermal treatment and enzymatic hydrolysis to produce monosaccharides. The liquid solution recovered after Fenton oxidation contained OH radicals with a concentration of 0.11 mol/L. This liquid solution was reused for a new Fenton oxidation reaction. After Fenton oxidation, hydrothermal treatment was performed under the same conditions as before, and 9.34-13.63 g/L of xylose was detected. This concentration was slightly lower than that of a fresh Fenton oxidation solution (16.51 g/L) but was higher than that obtained by hydrothermal treatment without Fenton oxidation (2.72 g/L). The degradation rate during hydrothermal pretreatment involving Fenton oxidation was 36.02%, which decreased (29.24-31.05%) slightly when the liquid solution recovered after Fenton oxidation was reused. However, the degradation rate increased compared to that measured from hydrothermal treatment without Fenton oxidation (15.21%). Moreover, the yield after enzyme hydrolysis decreased in the following order: fresh Fenton oxidation-hydrothermal treatment (89.64%) > Fenton oxidation with reused solution-hydrothermal treatment (74.84%) > hydrothermal treatment without Fenton oxidation (32.05%).

Levulinic acid (LA) derived from cellulosic biomass, serves a crucial intermediate that can be used in various chemical conversions. This study focused on optimizing the production of LA using two types of pretreated rice husk (de-ashed and delignificated cellulosic biomass) in a batch reaction system through catalytic conversion with sulfuric acid. To determine the optimal conditions, the conversions of glucose and α-cellulose were examined to compare the effects of pretreatment on the rice husk. The experimental parameters covered a broad spectrum, including temperatures ranging from 140℃ to 200℃, a reaction time was up to 600 minutes, and a substrate to catalyst (acid solution) ratio of 100 g/L. The highest LA yield was 44.8%, achieved from de-ashed rice husk with 3.0 wt.% of sulfuric acid at 180℃ and with a reaction time of 180 minutes. In the case of the delignificated rice husk, a LA yield of 43.6% was obtained with 3.0 wt.% of sulfuric acid at 200℃ and with reaction time of 30 minutes.

Research for renewable energy is being performed since it has the merits of little pollution of the environment and sustainable energy resources. Microalgae is attractive as a renewable energy resource. Biomass of the microalgae can be produced by mass culturing, and bulk harvest technology of is needed to produce biomass continuously. Recently, ultrasonic waves were used to harvest the cultivated microalgae continuously. In this study, the separation process using ultrasonic waves was performed to effectively harvest the microalgae. An ultrasonic wave separation resonator was designed and manufactured based on the acoustic field analysis. Separation experiments using design of experiment were carried out, and the influence of experimental variables from the ultrasonic wave separation process was investigated. Mixing conditions of variables were estimated to obtain high separation efficiency and a large microalgae harvest. Experimental results for suitable mixing conditions were compared with simulation results calculated from the state equation.
Renewable energy hybrid systems look into the process of choosing the finest arrangement of components and their sizing with suitable operation approach to deliver effective, consistent and cost effective energy source. This paper presents hybrid renewable energy system (HRES) solar photovoltaic, downdraft biomass gasifier, and fuel cell based generation system. HRES electrical power to supply the electrical load demand of academic research building sited in $23^{\circ}12^{\prime}N$ latitude and $77^{\circ}24^{\prime}E$ longitude, India. Fuzzy logic programming discover the most effective capital and replacement value on components of HRES. The cause regarding fuzzy logic rule usage on HOMER pro (Hybrid optimization model for multiple energy resources) software program finds the optimum performance of HRES. HRES is designed as well as simulated to average energy demand 56.52 kWh/day with a peak energy demand 4.4 kW. The results shows the fuel cell and battery bank are the most significant modules of the HRES to meet load demand at late night and early morning hours. The total power generation of HRES is 23,794 kWh/year to the supply of the load demand is 20,631 kWh/year with 0% capacity shortage.
In this work, the possibility of Miscanthus as renewable lignocellulosic biomass was evaluated for production of furfural. Also, to find the reaction conditions of furfural production from Miscanthus straw, the effects of solid-to-liquid ratio, reaction temperature, catalyst amount, and reaction time were investigated. Finally, 5.1 g/L furfural was produced from Miscanthus straw in the condition of solid-to-liquid ratio at 1:10, reaction temperature at $150^{\circ}C$, sulfuric acid at 3%, and reaction time of 60 minutes. This result will provide basic knowledge for converting renewable resources into valuable chemicals substituted for fossil fuels.
Hydrogen is an alternative fuel for the future energy which can reduce pollutants and greenhouse gases. Synthesis gas have played an important role of synthesizing the valuable chemical compound, for example methanol, DME and GTL chemicals. Renewable biomass feedstocks can be potentially used for fuels and chemical production. Current thermal processing techniques such as fast pyrolysis, slow pyrolysis, and gasification tend to generate products with a large slate of compounds. Lignocellulose feedstocks such as forest residues are promising for the production of bio-oil and synthesis gas. Pyrolysis and gasification was investigated using thermogravimetric analyzer (TGA) and bubbling fluidized bed gasification reactor to utilize forest woody biomass. Most of the materials decomposed between $320^{\circ}C$ and $380^{\circ}C$ at heating rates of $5{\sim}20^{\circ}C/min$ in thermogravimetric analysis. Bubbling fluidized bed reactor were use to study gasification characteristics, and the effects of reaction temperature, residence time and feedstocks on gas yields and selectivities were investigated. With increasing temperature from $750^{\circ}C$ to $850^{\circ}C$, the yield of char decreased, whereas the yield of gas increased. The gaseous products consisted of mostly CO, CO2, H2 and a small fraction of C1-C4 hydrocarbons.
Pretreatment of cellulosic biomass is necessary before enzymatic saccharification and fermentation. Extrusion is a well established process in food industries and it can be used as a physicochemical treatment method for cellulosic biomass. Aqueous ammonia soaking treatment at mild temperatures ranging from 60 to $80^{\circ}C$ for longer reaction times has been used to preserve most of the cellulose and hemicellulose in the biomass. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of extrusion treatment on aqueous ammonia soaking method. Extrusion was performed with miscanthus sample conditioned to 2mm of particle size and 20% of moisture content at $200^{\circ}C$ of barrel temperature and 175rpm of screw speed. And then aqueous ammonia soaking was performed with 15%(w/w) ammonia solution at $60^{\circ}C$ for 1, 2, 4, 8, 12 hours on the extruded and raw miscanthus samples respectively. In the combined extrusion-soaking treatment, most compositions removal occurred within 1~2 hours and on a basis of 1 hour soaking treatment values, cellulose was recovered about 85% and other compositions, including hemicellulose, are removed about 50% from extruded miscanthus sample. The combined extrusion-soaking treated and soaking only treated samples were subjected to enzymatic hydrolysis using cellulase and ${\beta}$-glucosidase. The enzymatic digestibility value of combined extrusion-2 hours soaking treated sample was comparable to 12 hours soaking only treated sample. It means that extrusion treatment can shorten the conventional long reaction time of aqueous ammonia soaking. The findings suggest that the combination of extrusion and soaking is a promising pretreatment method to solve both problems for no lignin removal of extrusion and long reaction time of aqueous ammonia soaking.
