A Study on Performance Evaluation for Oil Mist Removal using a High-speed Centrifugal Cyclone (고속원심분리 사이클론을 이용한 오일 미스트 제거 성능 연구)

  • This study was performed for the application of a high-speed centrifugal cyclone to shale gas mining process. This device uses the centrifugal force to control particles similar to typical cyclones, and the disk located inside the cyclone is forced to rotate using a motor. The pressure difference occurred during the rotating of disk. Hence, inflow rate was generated without a blower fan. In addition, flow rate increased with elevating rpm of motor. The installing the disk in multiple stages on the inner rotor increased the instantaneous disk outlet flow. Hence, the control efficiency of oil particle increased from 1.05% to 31.2%. By modifying the structure of the disk so that the air flow to the opposite direction of the cyclone, the control efficiency of oil particles increased to 81.5%. By increasing the capacity of the motor and the size of the disk, the flow rate was increased to 2.5 ㎥/min because the rpm of motor and pressure difference increased. As rpm of motor increased, the cut-off diameter (dpc) became smaller. Unlike the Lapple's equation, dpc was inversely proportional to the effective number of rotations (Ne). The control efficiency was maintained even if the concentration of oil particles increased, for this reason, the higher the oil concentration, the more particles were accumulated and controlled.

  • 우리나라 대기환경기준이 점차 강화되고 있고, 국민의 욕구수준 또한 선진국 수준으로 강화될 계획으로 있어 이에 따른 대기오염 방지시설의 설치 또는 보완이 요구되고 있다 특히, 배기가스 중 황산화물 및 질소산화물 배출농도 강화로 울산화력발전소에서는 최신의 배연탈황ㆍ탈질설비를 가동중에 있으나 황산 Mist가 주요원인으로 추정되는 Plume Opacity가 발생되어 오염물질 배출농도는 법적규제기준 이내로 배출되더라도 민원이 발생되고 있다. 이에 대한 대책으로 현장에 적합한 연료첨가제 주입으로 Plume Opacity 발생원인을 제거함과 동시에 배연탈황설비에서 발생된 저온부식 현상을 개선하고, 보일러 내 고온부식 등 연소장애 현상 개선을 통한 열효율 향상 방안에 대해 연구하였다.   • The emission gas from meat grilled restaurants has unpleasant odor and sticky particulate matters (PM) in form of oil mist. This affects the residents living nearby. In oder to decrease the odor and PM, electrostatic precipitators (ESP) were installed at several restaurants by support of Seoul metropolitan government and emission characteristics of PM and odor were investigated. The removal efficiency of odor and PM at before- and after-ESP was that total hydrocarbon (THC), NH3, H2S, acetaldehyde, butyraldehyde were not much decreased. Total suspended particles (TSP) emitted from the vent was below the value of 7 mg/m3 regardless of the concentration of before-ESP and removal efficiency was in the range of 64 ~ 86%. The ratio of PM1.0 to PM10 of emission gas was over 0.9. So it was revealed that most PM of emission gas was PM1.0. The PM concentration in the air of the street near the vent was higher than another street due to the emission gas and the PM of indoor air of restaurant grilling meats was measured very high compared to outdoor air. So it needs more powerful ventilation of indoor air.

  • The electrostatic precipitator(ESP) is a device for removing particulate pollutants in the form of either a solid (dust or fumes) or a liquid (mist) from a gas using an electrostatic force, Electrostatic precipitation has been widely used for cleaning gas from almost all industrial processes with a medium to large gas volume(>2,000 $m^3/min$), including utility boilers, blast furnaces, and cement kilns. ESP is also in wide use for air cleaning in living environments (home, offices, hospitals, etc.) ESP has large advantages over other particulate control device : a low operating cost, a high collection performance, and ease of maintenance. The purpose of this study is to investigate the characteristics of the smoke removal of an air cleaner by adjusting variable frequency and monitoring of turbidity three results of this research are as follows ;the first is the best efficient switching frequency which is 60Hz, the second is the smoke removal time which is obtained to 9 seconds, third is that the best efficient firing angle is $90^{\circ}$ As a result, the switching trigger frequency and SCR gate firing angle is very important factor to predict the best collection efficiency.

A Study on the Removal of Complex Odor including Acetaldehyde and Ozone Over Manganese-based Catalysts (아세트알데히드와 오존 복합악취 저감을 위한 망간기반 촉매 성능 연구)

  • In this study, we report on the catalyst process installed in conjunction with a wet plasma electrostatic precipitator to remove the oil mist and fine dust emitted from large-size grill restaurants. The multi-stage catalyst module reduced odor through catalytic reaction of acetaldehyde on catalysts even at an ambient temperature with ozone as an oxidant readily produced in a wet plasma electrostatic precipitator. Two types of manganese-based catalysts, $Mn_2O_3$ and $CuMnO_x$ were fabricated by extrusion molding for structured catalysts in practical applications, and the optimum conditions for high removal efficiencies of acetaldehyde and ozone were determined. When two optimized catalysts were applied in a two-stage catalyst module, the removal efficiency of acetaldehyde and ozone were ${\geq}85%$ and 100% respectively at the space velocity of $10,000h^{-1}$ and the reaction temperature of $100^{\circ}C$.

Rear Vehicle Detection Method in Harsh Environment Using Improved Image Information (개선된 영상 정보를 이용한 가혹한 환경에서의 후방 차량 감지 방법)

  • Most of vehicle detection studies using the existing general lens or wide-angle lens have a blind spot in the rear detection situation, the image is vulnerable to noise and a variety of external environments. In this paper, we propose a method that is detection in harsh external environment with noise, blind spots, etc. First, using a fish-eye lens will help minimize blind spots compared to the wide-angle lens. When angle of the lens is growing because nonlinear radial distortion also increase, calibration was used after initializing and optimizing the distortion constant in order to ensure accuracy. In addition, the original image was analyzed along with calibration to remove fog and calibrate brightness and thereby enable detection even when visibility is obstructed due to light and dark adaptations from foggy situations or sudden changes in illumination. Fog removal generally takes a considerably significant amount of time to calculate. Thus in order to reduce the calculation time, remove the fog used the major fog removal algorithm Dark Channel Prior. While Gamma Correction was used to calibrate brightness, a brightness and contrast evaluation was conducted on the image in order to determine the Gamma Value needed for correction. The evaluation used only a part instead of the entirety of the image in order to reduce the time allotted to calculation. When the brightness and contrast values were calculated, those values were used to decided Gamma value and to correct the entire image. The brightness correction and fog removal were processed in parallel, and the images were registered as a single image to minimize the calculation time needed for all the processes. Then the feature extraction method HOG was used to detect the vehicle in the corrected image. As a result, it took 0.064 seconds per frame to detect the vehicle using image correction as proposed herein, which showed a 7.5% improvement in detection rate compared to the existing vehicle detection method.
