  • Generalizability theory was employed to examine how the reliability of polygraph test is affected by the number of relevant questions, the number of repeated tests (the number of of charts), and the number of raters(scorers). The data consisted of the results of the polygraph tests administered to 31 crime suspects. The sample was drawn from the real polygraph tests based on Backster ZCT and archived by the Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Korea. The numerical scores assigned by thirteen raters to the test charts were analyzed to determine the generalizability of the scores. The largest variance component was accounted for by the examinee factor(43.97%) and the residual variance component was 16.84% of the total variance. The variance component due to the interaction between the examinee and the chart factors was 12.17% and the variance component due to the three way interaction of the examinee, the repeated test, and the relevant question factors was 10.31%. The generalizability coefficient for the current measurement procedure as practiced by the Korean Prosecutor's Office was 0.74 which suggests that the current procedure is acceptable. However, measurement procedures with the combination of more than two relevant questions, more than three repeated tests, and more than two raters were generally found to yield generalizability coefficients larger than 0.80. Therefore, such procedures need to be considered seriously in order to significantly improve the reliability of polygraph test.

  • Objectives : This study was performed to analyze treatment outcomes of idiopathic and secondary frozen shoulder patients with clinical characteristics, as well as percentage of pain reduction, and to find out relevant factors for pain reduction in the frozen shoulders of each patient group. Methods : Data were collected from outpatients who visited the Acupuncture and Moxibustion department and treated with traditional Korean Medical treatments at a Korean Medicine Hospital from June 12, 2006 to June 30, 2015. Patients were divided into two groups; idiopathic and secondary frozen shoulder, based on imaging and medical records. Clinical characteristics (demographic characteristics, disease characteristics, treatment characteristics) and percentage pain reduction were collected. Percentage pain reduction was compared between two groups and relevant factors for pain reduction were analyzed. Results : 78 outpatients'medical records were reviewed. There was no significant difference of clinical characteristics between idiopathic and secondary frozen shoulder patients. In percentage pain reduction, there was no significant difference between the two groups. In the idiopathic frozen shoulder group, patients who had a short duration from the onset had a tendency for less pain (p<0.05). In the secondary frozen shoulder group, patients taking herbal medicine experienced significantly less pain (p<0.05). Conclusions : We could find no significant difference in percentage pain reduction with traditional Korean medicine between idiopathic and secondary frozen shoulder. Duration from the onset could be relevant in percentage pain reduction in idiopathic frozen shoulder, and taking herbal medicine could be relevant in the percentage pain reduction in secondary frozen shoulder.

  • The purpose of this study was to analysis the correlation between kidneys function indicators and these size in ultrasonography. A total of 170 (male:86, female:84) patients of sex and age groups were examined by abdominal ultrasonography. The patients classified as those in their 20's, 30's, 40's, and over 50's. We measured the length, width, and cross-sectional height of the kidneys twice. At this time, the length of these were measured from the maximum upper to the maximum lower pole and the widest width in the same ultrasonography was measured to obtain the cross-sectional area. Other relevant indicators included body surface area, serum creatinine, glomerular filtration rate (GFR), MDRD (Modification of diet in renal disease) and C-G (Cockcroft-Gault). Significant comparisons of differences between relevant factors by age groups and sex were conducted with a one-way distribution analysis. Correlation analysis was also performed between relevant factors by using Pearson and Spearman correlation coefficient. It was defined as meaningful when the p-value was less than 0.05. As a result, the length, the width, and the cross-sectional area of kidneys were correlated with GFR, C-G, MDRD. Therefore, it is expected that the accuracy of diagnosis of kidneys disease will be increased if the relevant indicators are evaluated together rather than measuring only length of these in ultrasonography.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the impact of discrimination experienced by single-parent household heads and their children on their level of depression. As its sample, the study used data from 1,631 relevant respondents to the 2021 Single-Parent Family Status Survey conducted by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family. The collected data were analyzed using IBM SPSS, version 25.0, including descriptive statistics, difference verification, correlations, and regression analysis. First, general characteristics were classified as single-parent and family characteristics, health factors, and economic resources, and differences in depression were analyzed accordingly. Among the health factors, health status, frequency of exercise, and methods of alleviating depression were significant. Regarding economic resources, housing type and monthly household income were significant factors. Second, factors influencing the impact of discrimination experiences on depression were analyzed. The results indicated that among health factors, health status was significant. With regard to economic resources, monthly household income, discrimination experiences of household heads, discrimination experienced by children, and overall discrimination experiences were significant. No significant variables were identified among single-parent and family characteristic factors. Therefore, it was evident that health factors and economic resources, as well as discrimination experiences, are important variables that increase depression in single-parent household heads. Based on these findings, corresponding relevant alternatives were suggested.

  • Objective: This study aimed to explore a veteran patients' behavior of prescribing drug use and of which influencing factors from the veteran patients' perspective through qualitative interviews. Methods: We recruited veteran patients through purposive sampling and interviewed 30 veteran patients aged 20 and over who had been taking prescription drugs. We developed and utilized an interview guide consisting of three themes for data collection. We made verbatim transcripts and analyzed data using the framework analysis. Results: Participants were aware that they had large amounts of prescribing medicines and discarded the medicines. They often used improperly by the person himself or his family or acquaintances. The factors that influenced these inefficient prescription drug usage were grouped into 'factors procuring more drugs than necessary' and 'factors being prescribed more drugs than necessary'. Anxiety about downgrading from the upper class to the lower among reward classes for veterans, and suspicion or dissatisfaction with the veteran policy caused the participants to procure more drugs than necessary. Additionally, they received too many medicines due to long-term prescriptions and lack of communication with their doctors, and poor quality of veteran health services. Conclusion: To improve the medication use behavior of veteran patients, providing information or introducing interventions for the proper medication use is not enough. Efforts should be made to improve their negative recognition over relevant policies and health care services.

  • Contemporary design of food and beverage(F&B) space reflects various needs, not only of eating, but also environmental ones. As a way of meeting this conceptual change and the various needs of contemporary consumers, kitsch expression is often utilized actively. Thus, this study intends to analyze the design characteristics and methods of kitsch expression found in contemporary F&B space and their correlations with sensitivity factors, focusing on relevant cases. Specifically, it examined the definition, origin, and changes of kitsch, and identified the sensitive role of kitsch in interior space. Next, it classified the kitsch characteristics and design methods found in interior design, finally analyzing the characteristics of kitsch expressions in contemporary F&B space by sensitivity factors and their correlations with design methods. As a consequence, it was found that the attempts in contemporary F&B space design to differentiate space through active introduction of various kitsch expressions were fulfilling the sensitive needs of changing consumers by providing new cultural experiences. That is, such attempts are considered to have improved the satisfaction of consumers who value sensitivity, by means of wide exchange of sensitivity between designers and consumers. To raise the sensitive satisfaction of consumers more in future, it is necessary to further continuous and in-depth research on the correlation between kitsch expressions and sensitivity factors in interior design.
