광대역 무선 이동 통신을 위한 채널 선택적 릴레이 기반 전송 시스템 (Channel Selective Relay-based Transmission System for Broadband Wireless Communications)

  • 초고속 접속을 위한 차세대 광대역 무선 이동 통신 기술의 하나로서, 중계기를 활용한 다중 입출력 기술이 유력하게 연구되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 채널 선택적 중계기 기반의 다중 입출력 전송 시스템을 제안한다. 중계기와 단말기 사이의 채널 상태에 따라 선택적으로 부채널을 사용함으로써 수신 성능을 크게 향상시킬 수 있다. 실험 결과를 통해, 제안된 중계기 기반 시스템의 성능이 기존의 시스템 성능보다 우수한 특성을 나타냄을 확인하였다.

  • 본 논문에서는 복호 후 전달(decode-and-forward: DF) 릴레이 시스템에 대한 레일리 페이딩 채널에서의 의사-성능 분석 기법을 제안하였다. 우선, 각 릴레이가 복호 오류 유무에 상관없이 전송하는 경우에 대한 성능분석을 릴레이 노드단의 오류 사건을 기반으로 유도한다. 분석된 성능 분석 결과를 통하여 각 릴레이 단의 복호 오류가 수신 SNR 및 평균 오류율 성능 저하를 야기할 수 있음을 확인한다. 또한 제안된 분석 기법을 복호 오류가 없는 경우에만 전송하는 SDF의 경우로 확장함으로써 제안된 분석 기법이 DF 릴레이 시스템에 대한 일반적인 성능 분석 기법임을 확인한다. 그리고 제안된 분석기법의 정확성은 모의실험을 통하여 비교 검증되었다.

A Cluster-Based Relay Station Deployment Scheme for Multi-Hop Relay Networks

  • Multi-hop relay networks have been widely considered as a promising solution to extend the coverage area and to reduce the deployment cost by deploying the relay stations (RSs) in mobile communication systems. Suitable deployment for the RSs is one of the most important features of the demand nodes (DNs) to obtain a high data transmission rate in such systems. Considering a tradeoff among the network throughput, the deployment budget, and the overall coverage of the systems, efficient RS deployment schemes and corresponding algorithms must be developed and designed. A novel cluster-based RS deployment scheme is proposed in this paper to select the appropriate deployment locations for the relay stations from the candidate positions. To make an ideal cluster distribution, the distances between the DNs are calculated when deploying the RSs. We take into account the traffic demands and adopt a uniform cluster concept to reduce the data transmission distances of the DNs. On the basis of the different candidate positions, the proposed scheme makes an adaptive decision for selecting the deployment sites of the RSs. A better network throughput and coverage ratio can be obtained by balancing the network load among the clusters. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme outperforms the previously known schemes in terms of the network throughput and the coverage ratio. Additionally, a suitable deployment budget can be implemented in multi-hop relay networks.

Link Adaptation and Selection Method for OFDM Based Wireless Relay Networks

  • We propose a link adaptation and selection method for the links constituting an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) based wireless relay network. The proposed link adaptation and selection method selects the forwarding, modulation, and channel coding schemes providing the highest end-to-end throughput and decides whether to use the relay or not. The link adaptation and selection is done for each sub-channel based on instantaneous signal to interference plus noise ratio (SINR) conditions in the source-to-destination, source-to-relay and relay-to-destination links. The considered forwarding schemes are amplify and forward (AF) and simple adaptive decode and forward (DF). Efficient adaptive modulation and coding decision rules are provided for various relaying schemes. The proposed end-to-end link adaptation and selection method ensures that the end-to-end throughput is always larger than or equal to that of transmissions without relay and non-adaptive relayed transmissions. Our evaluations show that over the region where relaying improves the end-to-end throughput, the DF scheme provides significant throughput gain over the AF scheme provided that the error propagation is avoided via error detection techniques. We provide a frame structure to enable the proposed link adaptation and selection method for orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA)-time division duplex relay networks based on the IEEE 802.16e standard.

MC-CDMA 시스템에 대한 주파수 효율적인 CDD-DF-Relay 기법에 관한 연구 (Frequency Efficient CDD-DF-Relay schemes for MC-CDMA Systems)

  • 본 논문에서는 CDD-DF-Relay 기법을 MC-CDMA 시스템에 대해 제안하고 제안된 기법의 성능을 다중경로 레일리 페이딩 채널에서 검증한다. 일반적인 DF-Relay 기법에서는 모든 Relay들이 직교 채널들로 신호를 전송하여야 하기 때문에 그 장점 즉, 다이버시티 이득은 주파수 효율의 저하로부터 얻어진다고 할 수 있다. 따라서 이러한 주파수 효율 저하의 문제점을 해결하기 위하여 본 논문에서는 CDD 기법을 각 Relay 노드에 적용하여 모든 Relay가 하나의 채널만을 사용하도록 한다. 이는 Destination에서 바라본 하나의 R-D 링크 채널의 Delay Spread가 길어지는 효과를 갖는다. 즉 Relay 개수의 증가에 따라 다중 경로수가 증가됨을 의미하고, 이는 MC-CDMA 시스템에서 주파수 다이버시티 이득으로 해설될 수 있다. 모의실험에서는 일반적인 DF-Relay 기법과 제안된 CDD-DF-Relay 기법의 성능을 비교 분석한다. 이를 통해 제안된 기법이 주파수 효율의 저하없이 협력 다이버시디 이득을 획득할 수 있음을 확인하였다.

  • This paper describes the consideration of 154kV protective relaying systems for applying HTS(High Temperature Superconducting) power devices to Korean power system. We investigates firstly 154kV relay systems of Korean power system and then do a basic study on the relay systems in the power system with superconducting devices. For the more detailed result, the study using EMTDC relay system modeling will be done from the viewpoint of superconducting devices application in the future.

  • 본 논문에서는 OFDMA 기반 relay 시스템에서 사용자에게 VoIP 서비스를 제공할 경우, relay station (RS)의 capability에 따른 시스템의 성능 차이를 분석하였다. Relay 시스템은, relay의 스케줄링 수행 여부에 따라 mid-capability (MC)와 high-capability (HC) relay를 적용한 시스템으로 구분할 수 있다. HC relay를 적용한 시스템의 경우, base station (BS) 뿐만 아니라 RS도 직접 스케줄링을 수행한다. 반면에 MC relay를 적용한 시스템의 경우, 각 RS로부터 mobile station (MS) 들의 수신 SINR, 발생 traffic양 등의 정보를 BS에서 수집하여, BS가 단독으로 스케줄링을 수행한다. 이 경우 MS의 정보 수집 및 RS로의 스케줄링 정보 전달을 위해 control 오버헤드는 커지지만, BS가 모든 MS에 대한 정보를 알고 있으므로 효율적인 자원 할당 및 스케줄링이 가능하다. 따라서 RS의 capability에 따라 전체 시스템의 성능이 달라질 수 있고, 이에 대한 분석이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 모의 실험을 통해 VoIP traffic 환경에서 RS의 capability에 따른 평균 packet delay, good packet ratio, cell goodput 등을 도출하였다. 선정한 VoIP 성능 지표에 의하면, MC relay를 적용한 시스템이 HC relay를 적용한 시스템에 비해 성능이 우수함을 확인하였다.

Performance Evaluation of Vehicle-mounted Mobile Relay in Next Generation Cellular Networks

  • Compared to nomadic and fixed relay stations, vehicle-mounted mobile relay stations show different characteristics caused by the time-variant topology, due to their mobility. Especially, a relay mounted in a vehicle is differentiated from nomadic or fixed relay by the restricted distance between the relay and associated mobile station and the variable density of relay deployment in a cell. In this paper, we identify the characteristics of vehicle-mounted mobile relay stations and provide some parameters that highly influence the performance of vehicle-mounted relay. Through simulation, we measure the effect of relay density, zone ratio, relay transmission power, and frame transmission mode on the performance of vehicle-mounted relay. The results show that the performance of vehicle-mounted relay is highly susceptible to the above vehicle-mounted relay-specific parameters.

An Innovative Fast Relay Coordination Method to Bypass the Time Consumption of Optimization Algorithms in Relay Protection Coordination

  • Relay coordination in power system is a complex problem and so far, meta-heuristic algorithms and other methods as an alternative approach may not properly deal with large scale relay coordination due to their huge time consuming computation. In some cases the relay coordination could be unachievable. As the urgency for a proper approach is essential, in this paper an innovative and simple relay coordination method is introduced that is able to be applied on optimization algorithms for relay protection coordination. The objective function equation of operating time of relays are divided into two separate functions with less constraints. As the analytical results show here, this equivalent method has a remarkable speed with high accuracy to coordinate directional relays. Two distribution systems including directional overcurrent relays are studied in DigSILENT software and the collected data are examined in MATLAB. The relay settings of this method are compared with particle swarm optimization and genetic algorithm. The analytical results show the correctness of this mathematical and practical approach. This fast coordination method has a proper velocity of convergence with low iteration that can be used in large scale systems in practice and also to provide a feasible solution for protection coordination in smart grids as online or offline protection coordination.
