  • To evaluate the durability of finger-jointed woods according to change of humidity conditions, four types of finger-jointed woods glued with different kinds of adhesives and finger pitches were made with Sitka spruce, and the effect of humidity conditions on creep performances was investigated. The shape of creep curves differed among humidity conditions, and the inclination of creep curves was greatest in 85%RH, and lowest in 65%RH. Their creep curves showed a linear behavior beyond approximately one hour, regardless of humidity conditions. The A values of the creep curves fitted to power law increased with increasing relative humidity, whereas the A' values were in order of 30 > 85 > 65%RH unlike the A values. The initial deformation increased with increasing relative humidity, whereas the creep deformation unlike the initial deformation was in order of 85 > 30 > 65%RH, and it was found that the creep deformation of finger-jointed woods indicated the smaller amount in air-dry moisture content rather than in a low moisture content less than 30%RH. Finger-jointed woods with 6.8 mm (L) pitch had the greater creep amount than in those with 4.4 mm (S) pitch in all humidity conditions. The difference of creep amount between both adhesives in all humidity conditions was small. Relative creep at 240 hr was greatest as 62.2~71.9% in 85%RH, and the values indicated 2.1~2.6 times that of 30%RH and 3.0~3.6 times that of 65%RH and were equal or slightly greater than that of solid spruce.

  • The restoration of the impaired stream ecosystem is an important part of river policies in Ministry of Environment (MoE). However, the diagnosing the impairment sources of stream ecosystem has been omitted on the current river projects and policies. This phenomena lead the remaining impairment sources keep influencing on negative effects on streams. Hence, it is critical to construct a diagnosis system of impairment sources in order to increase the efficiency of various river restoration projects and policies. Moreover, it is also important to understand the relative impact of socio-economic factors of the impairment of stream ecosystems so as to build a domestic diagnosis system in place. Therefore, the study aims to analyse the relative effects of socio-economic factors which are the source of the stream ecosystem impairments through implementing the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). In order to achieve the goal, a list of socio-economic factors influencing the stream health has been derived. On the basis of the derived causes list, AHP questionnaire were carried out to the experts of aquatic ecology. The study results could be implemented to analysing the relative influence of socio-economic impairment causes in domestic stream environments. In addition, more case study investigation is needed to cross-check if the derived impairment causes and weights are applied in the field as well as to develop more reliable indicators.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to know the availability of three photosensitizers, CQ, PD, DA, as a photosensitizer of dental resin composite. We want to know abortion band around visible light region for the using potential possibility as a photosensitizer for visible light cured dental composite resin. And I studied to know the relative photodecomposition ratio of three photosensitizers with or without photoinitiator, DAEM. Methods: The photodecomposition of three photosensitizers were studied by UV absorption spectroscopy in ethanol and determined by same instrument with irradiation time for relative photodecomposition. In order to study the effect of amine on photodecomposition was added the DAEM in the photosensitizer solution and the relative rate was measured by the same procedure with aove mentioned. Results: The all of three photosensitizers are absorbed around visible light region. The relative rate of decrease in absorbance incereased in the order: CQ < BD < PD. The effect of DAEM on the photodecomposition of the photosensitizers was appeared different results without DAEM. The photodecomposition rate of PD and DA decreased somewhat with the addition of amine, while that of CQ increased. The rtealtive photodecomposition rate increased in the oprder: BD ${\leq}$ CQ < PD with the addition of amine, but the differnce was not significant. Conclusion: PD and DA like CQ gives to the possibility of use as a photosensitizer for visible light cured dental composite resin by absorption around visible light region and photodecomposition in the maximum absorption wavelength. And it is showed that PD and DA are not effective decomposed with amine initiator, DAEM but CQ decomposed with DAEM effectively. This result may be due to a different mechanism operating for the decomposition of photosensitizers in the presence of amine.

  • A two-dimensional finite difference numerical model was developed in order to simulate two-phase fluid flow in a single fracture. In the model, variation of viscosity with pressure and that of relative permeability with water saturation can be treated. For the numerical solution, IMPES method was used, from which the pressure and the saturation of water and gas were computed one by one. Seven cases of model test using parallel plates for a single fracture were performed in order to obtain the characteristic equation of relative permeability which would be used in the numerical model. it was difficult to match the characteristic curves of relative permeability from the model tests with the existing emperical equations, consequently a logistic equation was proposed. As the equation is composed of the parameters involving aperture size, it can be applied to any fracture.

  • Ultraviolet spectrophotometric investigations have been carried out on the systems of benzene with iodine, bromine, chlorine and iodine monobromide in carbon tetrachloride. The results reveal the formation of one to one molecular complexes of the type, $C_6H_6{\cdot}X_2\;or\;C_6H_6{\cdot}IX$ (X denotes halogen atoms). The equilibrium constants obtained at $25^{\circ}$for the complex formation are 0.173, 0.137, 0.0643 and 0.341 $lmole^{-1}$ for $C_6H_6{\cdot}I_2,\;C_6H_6{\cdot}Br_2,\;C_6H_6{\cdot}Cl_2\;and\;C_6H_6{\cdot}IBr$, respectively. These results combined with those obtained by other workers indicate that the relative stabilities of the benzene complexes decrease in the order, $ICl > IBr > I_2 > Br_2 > Cl_2.$ This order may be measure of their relative acidities toward benzene, which is explained in terms of the relative polarizabilities of halogen molecules and the relative electronegativities of halogen atoms.

  • Lidar-based hazard avoidance landing system for lunar lander calculates hazard cost with respect to the desired local landing area in order to identify hazard and designate safe landing point where the cost is minimum basically using slope and roughness of the landing area. In this case, if the parameters are only considered, chosen landing target can be designated near hazard threatening the lander. In order to solve this problem and select optimal safe landing point, hazard cost based on relative distance to hazard should not be considered as well as cost based on terrain parameters. In this paper, the effect of hazard cost based on relative distance to hazard on safe landing performance was analyzed and it was confirmed that landing site designation with two relative distances to hazard results in the best safe landing performance by an experiment using three-dimensional depth camera.

  • It is difficult to perform automatic formation flight of UAV (Unmanned Aerial vehicle) when GPS (Global Positionig System) is out of order or has a system error, since the relative position estimation in the flight group is impossible in that case. In this paper, we design a relative localization system for the automatic formation flight of UAV. For this purpose, we adopt digital beam forming (DBF) to estimate the angle with the central controller of the flight group and Particle Filtering scheme to compensate the estimation error of ToA (time of arrival) method. Computer simulation results present a proper distance between the central controller and a following unit to maintain the automatic formation flight.

  • The International Association of Marine Aids to Navigation and Lighthouse Authorities(IALA) model course recommends specific aspects of basic curriculums for Vessel Traffic Services(VTS) operator education such as modules, course hours, contents, etc. Most domestic training programs for newly appointed VTS operators comply with such recommendations. The objective of this study is to determine whether such modules for VTS operator training recommended by the current IALA model course correspond to the actual opinions of VTS operators who are currently working in the field. To this end, the relative importance of basic modules for vessel traffic services operator training was analyzed using the Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP) method. A questionnaire was designed to include 8 modules recommended by the IALA model course, and the survey results of 52 individuals working at 5 VTS centers were analyzed. The result showed that, unlike the assumption by the IALA, domestic VTS operators viewed Nautical Knowledge as the most important modules, followed by Emergency Situations, Traffic Management, Language, Equipment, VHF Radio, Communication Co-ordination, and Personal Attributes, in that order.

  • This work investigated the methodology to simultaneously optimize the ozone and relative humidity composition for the $NO_x$ degradation using soil biofilter. Experiments were made as a function of inlet ozone concentration ($0{\sim}1,770\;ppb$) and relative humidity ($38{\sim}81%$). Factorial design ($2^2+3$) and response surface methodology by central composite designs were used to examine the role of two factors and optimal response condition on $NO_x$ degradation. It was found that a second-order response surface model can properly interpret the experimental data with an $R^2$-value of 0.9730 and F-value of 71.83, based on which the maximum $NO_x$ degradation was predicted up to 92.8% within our experimental conditions.
