This survey has been carried out on ten species(Erythronium japonicum, Symplocarpus renifolius, Adonis amurensis var. ramosa, Corydalis turtschaninovii var. genuina, Primula sieboldii forma spontanea, Anemone raddeana, Gagea Iutea, Heloniopsis japonjca, Hylomecon japonicum, and Convallaria majalis var. keiskei in the undergrowth of a forest of deciduous broad-leaved trees in the Kwangnung area of Kyung-Ki Province. They always bloom towards the end of March which is earlier than most of the other plants do. They completely finish up their matter productions before foliage of the deciduous trees, which are the upper strata plants, grows broader or to cite in other terms, before the relative light intensity in the lower strata is fallen to the lowest degree to become to insufficient to allow for photosynthesis. These phanerophytes naturally wither down between June and July. The above mentioned phenomenon clearly demonstrates a kind of the ecological niches and habitat segregation in terms of using sunlight to her greatest advantage. Soon after these herbs wither they make their own winter buds-life form-around their roots and then go into hibernation. The intensity of light in this forest zone was measured through the use of a lux meter in order to investigate it's seasonal variations. In additions, an intensive survey on the duration of their efflorescence was fullfilled.

This study was carried out in order to investigate of effects of environmental conditions which influence negative ions development. Negative ions are nature' most powerful air-cleaning agents, are created by nature, and found at their most optimal levels where the air is most pure and healthy. Negative ions are regarded as one of the important factors which indicate the quality of the air. Therefore, the focus of this study was to clear relationship among negative ions development induced by plant cultivar and environmental conditions such as air temperature, light intensity and relative humidity. As the results of this study, it was found that negative ions development was promoted during the period with plants compared to the period without plants. In Particular, negative ions development was high under air temperature $20^{\circ}C$, relative humidity 90% and dark condition. Temperature and humidity factors on this experiment was strongly affected on negative ions development, but light intensity had almost slight effect. It was shown that these results can contribute to the application of environmental control techniques to negative ions. Among plant cultivar of Spathiphyllum spp. Mentha spicata, and Cupressu arizonica, Mentha spicata was higher negative ions than the other plants, and also the leaves were higher than the stems and roots. The effect of plants on the perception of the inte끼r air quality may, therefore, be one explanation of this results about negative ions. on the other hand, it seems that a green indoor environment might be an increase in general well-being due to the plants.
Background: A simple binary scoring system (SBSS) was developed and used to assess the welfare measures of commercial broiler chickens in South Korea. We also correlated welfare measures with environmental parameters of broiler house. Our measures of welfare included lameness, hock burn (HB) and foot pad dermatitis (FPD), whilst environmental parameters included air temperature, relative humidity, air speed, light intensity, air quality (in particular carbon dioxide ($CO_2$) and ammonia ($NH_3$) concentrations) and airborne microbes. Results: The effect of environmental parameters on welfare measures was apparent even on 10-day-old broilers. A non-parametric correlation analysis revealed significant correlations between environmental parameters and welfare measures. The key environmental parameters were relative humidity and light intensity. The results indicate that there is a need for proper control of environmental conditions on poultry farms, which could reduce health problems and subsequently reduce disease and mortality. Conclusions: In conclusion, the simplicity of SBSS makes it preferable over more complex scoring systems and allows a farmer to more easily assess the welfare measures on their own farm.

Four foreign pasture cultivars such as Lotus corniculatus cv. Maitland, Trifolium pratense cv. Deben, Lolium perenne cv. $S_{23}$ and .Dactylis glomerata cv. $S_{26}$ were tested with "Kwisan" series, a common upland soil in Southern part of Korea. The cultivars in single or mixture were grown in pot with two levels of light intensity, i.e. a full sun light condition and 50% interception. Dry matter yield of top and root and their seasonal changes, the number of tillers or branches per plant and finally competative effects of mixtures were evaluated by estimating the expected yield, relative yield totals and compensation index. The results are summarized as follows: 1. Maitland showed a significant decrease in dry matter yield in shade condition, but the number of branches of Maitland was higher than those of Deben. 2. Maitland showed higher dry matter yield than Deben during the mid-summer period, while $S_{23}$, showed higher dry matter yield than $S_{26}$ during early season. 3. Mixtures of $S_{23}$ and Maitland, and $S_{26}$ and Deben gave better response to grasses by increasing the number of tillers in shade condition. 4. Combinations of Lotus corniculatus cv. Maitland and Dactylis glomerata cv. $S_{26}$ and Trifolium pratense cv. Deben and Dactylis glomerata cv. $S_{26}$ gave higher relative yield totals and higher compensation index, which envisages that the pasture establishment rates can be enhanced when those mixtures were sown by the oversowing method in the upland soil where phosphate level is very low and infertile in general.n general.
Current composites are made with dimethacrylate monomers and silane-treated silica microfillers, either alone or with silane treated glass fillers The main reasons for clinical failure of dental composites are secondary caries, wear and fracture. Most of practitioner want to get a composite which is more tougher under occlusal stress, less polymerization contraction, and better handling properties in application clinically. The aim of this study was to investigate the influence of resin matrix with various flows on the physical proper-ties such as fracture toughness and degree of conversion of the experimental resins. It was hypothesized that flexible or tough resin composites can be designed by judicious choice of monomer composition Various flow resin matrices containing Bis-GMA, UDMA, and TEG-DMA were made by altering the pro-portion of the monomers. After the unfilled resins were light-cured for different light intensity, the fracture toughness(K$_{1c}$) was measured according to ASTM standard using the single edge notched geometry, and degree of conversion(DC) was measured by FTIR. And experimental composites were formulated with variations in the proportion of silanated quartz and strontium glass fillers as 60, 75, and 77wt%. Also, the physical properties of composites with various filer contents were evaluated as same manner. All resulting data were compared by ANOVA/Tukeys test at 0.05 level. The results were as follows; 1. The degree of conversion of high flow resin containing less Bis-GMA was higher than that of low flow unfilled resin 2. While the degree of conversion of unfilled resin was increased according to light intensity for polymerization, there was no significant increase with moderate and high light intensity. Also, the fracture toughness was not increased by high light intensity. 3. The fracture toughness was high in the low flow unfilled resin containing higher contents of Bis-GMA. 4. There was a significant increase for fracture toughness and a tendency for degree of conversion to be reduced when the content of fillers was increased. 5. In the experimental composites, the flow of resin matrix did not affected on the fracture toughness, even, which was decreased as increase of viscosity. These results showed that the physical properties of a dental composite could be attributed to the flow of resin matrix with relative content of monomers. Specific combination of resin monomers should be designed to fulfil the needs of specific indication for use.
The compositional changes in mycosporine-like amino acids (MAAs) were investigated in the marine dinoflagellate Scrippsiella sweeneyae exposed to four different spectral compositions and five relative intensities of UV-B (280-320 nm) to UV-A (320-400 nm) + photosynthetically available radiation (PAR: 400-700 nm). Neither dose nor wavelengths of UVR significantly affected the growth rates. UVR caused a significantly increase in cell volume. Cell volume in the >280nm treatment was more than two times greater at 6.8 % of UVR intensity. Production of UVR induced MAAs was dependent on the dose of UVR. However. the induction of MAAs was related to the cell growth. Greater induction of MAAs was observed at shorter wavelengths. The composition of MAAs varied with increasing light intensity of UVR.

This study was carried out in order to investigate the early growth and root development characteristics of Atractylodes japonica container seedling. Experiment was performed by light intensity (100%, 60%, 25% and 10% of full sunlight). Height was surveyed well under 25% of full sunlight (overall 11.013.0%). Root collar diameter was the highest in the full sunlight (7.52 mm). It was the highest fresh weight (1.52 g, 0.92 g, 0.90 g and 3.34 g) under 25% of full sunlight, root dry weight was getting higher in the higher light level and the highest in the full sunlight (0.13 g). Total root length, root project area, root surface area and root volume were the highest under 25% of full sunlight (434.7 cm, $17.4cm^2$, $54.7cm^2$, $0.55cm^3$, respectively) and the lowest under 10% of full sunlight. As a result of surveying the whole experiment, A. japonica is judged nicely by maintaining 25% of full sunlight, excepting 10% of full sunlight. And light levels during the early growth are overly important to improve early growth.
This study was conducted to improve group production structure of green pepper in greenhouse. Plant was trained 45$^{\circ}$ branching, erection after 45$^{\circ}$ branching and erection. Light absorption index was calculated to investigate relation of light intensity and leaf area in different plant type according to plant height. Group production structure was analyzed with relative light intensity and dry weight of plant. In total growing seasons, group production structures were good in order of erect type after 45$^{\circ}$ branching > erect type > 45$^{\circ}$ branching type in view of light absorption, leaf and stem distribution. Plant height of erect type was taller than any other case, and average node length of 45$^{\circ}$ branching type was shorter than any other case. But stem diameter, leaf area, fresh weight and dry weight of erect type after 45$^{\circ}$ branching were superior to any other case. Yield is order of erect type after 45$^{\circ}$ branching > 45$^{\circ}$ branching type > erect type.

This study was conducted to examine the changes of photosynthesis, growth, chlorophyll contents and functional material contents in light intensity and EC concentration of wild baby leaf vegetable, Indian lettuce (Lactuca indica L. cv. 'Sunhyang') in DFT hydroponics. The cultivation environment was 25±1℃ of temperature and 60±5% of relative humidity in growth system. At 14 days after sowing, combination effect of light intensity (Photosynthetic Photon Flux Density (PPFD 100, 250, 500 µmol·m-2·s-1) and EC level (EC 0.8, 1.4, 2.0 dS·m-1) of nutrient solution was determined at the baby leaf stage. The photosynthesis rate, stomatal conductance, transpiration rate and water use efficiency of Indian lettuce increased as the light intensity increased. The photosynthesis rate and water use efficiency were highest in PPFD 500-EC 1.4 and PPFD 500-EC 2.0 treatment. The chlorophyll content decreased as the light intensity increased, but chlorophyll a/b ratio increased. Leaf water content and specific leaf area decreased as light intensity increased and a negative correlation (p < 0.001) was recognized. Plant height was the longest in PPFD 100-EC 0.8 and leaf number, fresh weight and dry weight were the highest in PPFD 500-EC 2.0. Anthocyanin and total phenolic compounds were the highest in PPFD 500-EC 1.4 and 2.0 treatment, and antioxidant scavenging ability (DPPH) was high in PPFD 250 and 500 treatments. Considering the growth and functional material contents, the proper light intensity and EC level for hydroponic cultivation of Indian lettuce is PPFD 500-EC 2.0, and PPFD 100 and 250, which are low light conditions, EC 0.8 is suitable for growth.
The photoisomerization behavior of benzylideneacetophenones, known as chalcones, was studied. We synthesized the chalcone derivatives that have ether groups at 4 and 4' positions. Due to the electron donating ability of the ether oxygen, the bond order of the single bond between two phenyl ring of the chalcone strengthened, which eventually increased the rotational barrier of the single bond. The rotational barrier of the single bond is about 20-22 kcal/mole. Thermal recovery of this process took about 1 min. The UV-visible spectra of these chromophores exhibit two characteristic absorption peaks at 276 nm and 340 nm. The relative intensity of the peaks varies depending on the alkyl chain length of the substituent. Photo-irradiation with the 365 nm light monotonously decreases the 340 nm peak. However, the photo-irradiation with 254 nm light induce two competing processes and produced rather complicated absorption profile.
