This thesis is an experimental research of investigating behavior of single pile, subjected to the vertical compression loads, using the centrifuge facility located in the geotechnical engineering laboratory in Kangwon National University. Centrifugal model experiments of model pile were carried out changing diameter of model pile, relative density of sandy ground and the gravitational level applied in the centrifuge. Thus, their effects on the load-settlement behavior and the ultimate bearing capacity of pile were investigated. Experimental results obtained from centrifuge model tests were compared with the theoretical or semi-empirical equations to analyze values of ultimate bearing capacity of model pile. When we compare the ultimate bearing capacity of experimental results with the ultimate bearing capacity of theorical results, the experimental results appear more higher in the De Beer method and Meyerhof. Expecially, Terzaghi method is very same as the experimental results normally.
This paper deals with an automatic optimum design based on capacity for a synchronous reluctance motor (SynRM). The focus of this paper is the design relative to the output power on the basis of rotor shape of a SynRM in each capacity. And optimization algorithm is used by means of sequential unconstrained minimization technique(SUMT). The coupled Finite Elements Analysis (FEA) & Preisach model have been used to evaluate nonlinear solutions. The proposed procedure allows to define the rotor geometric dimensions according to capacity starting from an existing motor or a preliminary design.

The vertical irregularities occurred in the structure may lessen the overall seismic capacity of the structure. Seismic capacity evaluation guidelines (e.g. FEMA 175, ATC-14) propose the criterion for the vertical irregularities of mass, stiffness and strength respectively. But, the criterion seems groundless and leads us to make a true/false decision only. This study is to draw a reasonable basis on which multi-level grading is possible based fur the evaluation of existing buildings. Time history analysis for 3-,5-, and 10-story steel frame structures has been performed using several earthquake data. ANN (Artificial Neural Network) is introduced to find the relative contribution factor of the irregularities along the irregular position. Also, the application system fur the seismic capacity evaluation can be established using the trained ANN.
This paper presents an experimental investigation of the flexural behavior of square hollow steel section (HSS) beams subjected to pure bending. Totally six unfilled and nine ultra high performance concrete (UHPC)-filled HSS beams were tested under four-point bending until failure. The effects of the steel tube thickness, the yield strength of the steel tube and the strength of concrete on moment capacity, curvature, and ductility of UHPC-filled HSS beams were examined. The performance indices named relative ductility index (RDI) and strength increasing factor (SIF) were investigated with regard to different height-to-thickness ratio of the specimens. The flexural strengths obtained from the tests were compared with the values predicted by Eurocode 4, AISC-LRFD and CIDECT design codes. The results showed that the increase in the moment capacity and the corresponding curvature is much greater for thinner HSS beams than thicker ones. Eurocode 4 and AISC-LRFD predict the ultimate moment capacity of the all UHPC-filled HSS beams conservatively.

Ultimate lateral loaded pile capacity is influenced by soil conditions. Methods of calculating ultimate lateral loaded pile capacity in homogeneous soil were suggested by a lot of previous researchers.(Broms 1964, Petrasovits & Award 1972, Prasad & Chari 1999, Zhang et al. 2005) There is only few homogeneous soil in actual condition, however, it could be not conviction that the methods from previous researchers are correct in multi-layered soil. In this study, the variation of ultimate lateral loaded pile capacity was analyzed in the various multi-layered conditions, ultimate lateral loaded pile capacity was calculated by the methods from previous researchers. For this study, the Lateral Pile Load Tests (LPLT) were performed in calibration chamber, the soil was composed by 3 layers and each layers had a various relative density. The results of LPLT were compared with calculated results from the previous researchers.
The Incremental Dynamic Analysis (IDA) procedure is currently known as a robust tool for estimation of seismic collapse capacity. However, the procedure is time-consuming and requires significant computational efforts. Recently some simplified methods have been developed for rapid estimation of seismic collapse capacity using pushover analysis. However, a comparative review and assessment of these methods is necessary to point out their relative advantages and shortcomings, and to pave the way for their practical use. In this paper, four simplified pushover analysis-based methods are selected and applied on four regular RC intermediate moment-resisting frames with 3, 6, 9 and 12 stories. The accuracy and performance of the different simplified methods in estimating the median seismic collapse capacity are evaluated through comparisons with the results obtained from IDAs. The results show that reliable estimations of the summarized 50% fractile IDA curve are produced using SPO2IDA and MPA-based IDA methods; however, the accuracy of the results for 16% and 84% fractiles is relatively low. The method proposed by Shafei et al. appears to be the most simple and straightforward method which gives rise to good estimates of the median sidesway collapse capacity with minimum computational efforts.
Even though the plate bearing test (PBT) to evaluate the load baring capacity and the field density test to evaluate the relative density are mainly used for quality control of soil compaction in Korea, use of the dynamic cone penetrometer test (DCPT) and the dynamic plate bearing test (DPBT) considering economic feasibility, rapidity, and suitability for field conditions increase to use for quality control of soil compaction. In this study, bearing capacity and relative density of subgrade with thickness of 20 cm, 30 cm, and 40 cm are estimated using PBT, DCPT, DPBT and field density test in three field compaction tests, and the relationship among various compaction evaluation methods is analyzed and discussed.

This paper presents the heating performance characteristics of the air source heat pump with air to water type. The heating capacity, COP, P-h diagram were measured at various operating conditions, air-side temperatures, relative humidities, and inlet/outlet water temperature under the standard heating condition of KS B 6275. The experimental data for the heat pump were measured using the air-enthalpy calorimeter and the constant temperature water bath. As the air-side temperature increases, the heating capacity and COP increase. The effect of the air-side relative humidities on the heat pump performance is insignificant. The heat pump performance on inlet and outlet water temperatures and air-side temperatures(-7, -11, $-15^{\circ}C$) were studied. Heating capacity and COP increased about 27~39% with the air-side temperature increasing. Enthalpy between the front and the rear of condenser decreased about 6% by increasing of the inlet water temperature. These results can be utilized in the design of the air source heat pump system with air to water type.
Six common tablet disintegrants (corn starch, Avicel PH102, calcium carboxymethylcellulose, Primojel, Kollidon CL and Ac-Di-Sol) were used at the concentration of 0, 2, 4 and 6% (w/w) in salicylamide tablets made with wet granulation method. Certain physical parameters of the disintegrants (moisture sorption, hydration capacity and bulk density) were determined to evaluate their relative efficiency. The disintegration time and dissolution rate of the tablets were correlated well with the ranks of initial rate of moisture sorption for each disintegrant as follows; Ac-Di-Sol, Kollidon CL, primojel, calcium CMC, corn starch and Avicel PH102. The initial rate of moisture sorption was important for the disintegration capacity as well as hydration capacity. The effect of storage at different temperatures and relative humidity upon the tablets containing various disintegrants was evaluated in terms of tablet hardness and disintegration time. Storage at high temperature reduced the hardness substantially and retarded the disintegration of the all tablets studied. Especially, the hardness of tablets containing Kollidon CL was significantly reduced. Although the tablet hardness was decreased and the disintegration time was increased under a moderate humid condition, both of them were decreased under the severely high humid condition of 80 or 90% RH, which was due to the breakrupture of tablet matrix bonds by the excessive uptake of moisture. Therefore, the stability caused by moisture sorption should be considered, when disintegrants having high moisture sorption such as Kollidon CL, Ac-Di-Sol and Primojel were employed in the tablets containing water-labile or hygroscopic drugs.

The experimental apparatus consists of dehumidifier with multi-layer type heat exchangers to remove the moisture from automatic equipments, semiconductors, and manufacturing processes under the low temperature environment, and chemical production lines which are likely to take moisture. The major components of this system are four evaporators with different fin pitch, two compressors, two condensers and an expansion valve. In this study, the performance characteristics of dehumidifier is analyzed by the variations of frontal air velocity in the first heat exchanger(evaporator). The cooling capacity of each heat exchanger is acquired by the enthalpy calculating from measuring point of temperature and relative humidity of the first heat exchanger from 1.0m/s to 4.0m/s with increasing interval 0.5m/s, and the front air velocity. As a result, it is found that cooling capacity of the first heat exchanger showed the best cooling capacity when its frontal air velocity is 2.0 m/s.
