  • An experimental study has been carried out to investigate the reinforcing effect of marine dredging clay(MDC) mixed with the Micro-Fiber(MF). A series of laboratory tests was performed using specimens of MDC alone and MDC with MF by means of uniaxial and triaxial compression test. In the test programme, three stages of water content of MDC were chosen according to the elapsed time after dredging, and content and length of MF were considered as important factors for reinforcing effect. And the developed strength due to curing was measured both in MDC and composite. The enhancement of strength of composite was found to be increased with the increasing content and length of MF, and curing time, and with decreasing water content of MDC. An additional study has been made for in-situ trafficability on the soft reclaimed ground by MDC due to high water content. It was found that the waste lime was to be applicable for this purpose to get a reinforcing effect of MDC. A further study would lead to the better understanding of the reinforcing mechanism of the composite.

  • The tensile characteristics of four types GFRP (glass fiber reinforced polymer) reinforcing bars with different resin mix proportions and fiber volume fraction were analyzed experimentally. Four types of GFRP reinforcing bars containing approximately 66 or 70% fiber volume fraction with A or B rein mix proportions were considered in this test. All testing procedures including specimens preparation, set-up of test equipments and measuring devices were made according to the recommendations of CSA Standard S806-02. From the test results, it was found that GFRP reinforcing bars containing approximately 70% fiber volume fraction with A rein mix proportion showed the higher tensile strength than that of the others due to the higher fiber volume fraction and proper resin mix proportion.

연속섬유가 보강된 3상 복합재료의 종방향 전단계수 해석 (Effective Longitudinal Shear Modulus of Continuous Fiber-Reinforced 3-Phase Composites)

  • The effective longitudinal shear modulus(LSM) of continuous composites is studied theoretically and numerically using 3-phase unit cell model. Circular, hexagonal and rectangular shapes of reinforced fiber are considered to predict the shear modulus as a function of elastic modulus of each phase and volume fraction of interphase and reinforced fiber. It is found that rectangular fiber shape in low fiber volume fraction($v_f$<30%) and circular fiber shape in high volume fraction($v_f$>40%) shows the higher longitudinal shear modulus. Also the obtained values of LSM for rectangular array and by numerical analysis are higher than those of hexagonal array and by theoretical analysis respectively. The reinforcing effects of interphase are more significant in cases of higher fiber volume fraction and circular fiber shape. Not only the spatial distribution and shape of reinforcing fiber but also the volume of interphase have a pronounced effects on the overall LSM. It is also found that the tangent moduous of 2-and 3-phase polymer matrix composites is insensitive to the shape and distribution of reinforcing fibers.

보강흙벽돌의 일축압축 강도특성분석 (Unconfined Compressive Strength of Reinforced Soil Brick)

  • To analyze the characteristics of unconfined compressive strength of reinforced soil bricks made of clayey and sandy mixed with cement, lime, staple fiber and their combinatioin , a series of unified comparessive tests was performed. The resutls are summarized as follows ; 1) Reinforcing effect of reinforced clayed soil and that of soil brick of sandy soil mixed with cement and staple fiber is 8 times greater than no reinforced sandy sol. Therefore, the reinforcing effect seems to be greater in sandy soil than in clayey soil . 2) Lime shows a negative reinforcing effect in clayed soil but a little reinforcing effect in sandy soil. 3) It is appeared that strain at failure of soil brick reinforced with staple fiber is greater than that of unreinforced brick regrardless of soil's type.

  • The shear friction tests using large direct shear test units were performed to evaluate the friction properties of fiber-mixed soil. The used materials and test conditions were flowing. Soils : SM and ML; mixing fibers : three types of polypropylene fibers(net type 38mm and 60mm, and line type 60mm), reinforcement : geogrid; mixing ratio:0.2% and 0.3%; degree of compaction : 85% and 95%. In the test results, the reinforcing effect of fiber mixed soil was confirmed.

Stress-strain behavior and toughness of high-performance steel fiber reinforced concrete in compression

  • The complete stress-strain behavior of steel fiber reinforced concrete in compression is needed for the analysis and design of structures. An experimental investigation was carried out to generate the complete stress-strain curve of high-performance steel fiber reinforced concrete (HPSFRC) with a strength range of 52-80 MPa. The variation in concrete strength was achieved by varying the water-to-cementitious materials ratio of 0.40-0.25 and steel fiber content (Vf = 0.5, 1.0 and 1.5% with l/d = 80 and 55) in terms of fiber reinforcing parameter, at 10% silica fume replacement. The effects of these parameters on the shape of stress-strain curves are presented. Based on the test data, a simple model is proposed to generate the complete stress-strain relationship for HPSFRC. The proposed model has been found to give good correlation with the stress-strain curves generated experimentally. Inclusion of fibers into HPC improved the ductility considerably. Equations to quantify the effect of fibers on compressive strength, strain at peak stress and toughness of concrete in terms of fiber reinforcing index are also proposed, which predicted the test data quite accurately. Compressive strength prediction model was validated with the strength data of earlier researchers with an absolute variation of 2.1%.

고로슬래그 골재를 사용한 다공성 콘크리트의 물리·역학적 특성에 미치는 고로슬래그 미분말, 황토 및 보강섬유의 효과 (Effect of Blast Furnace Slag, Hwang-toh and Reinforcing Fibers on The Physical and Mechanical Properties of Porous Concrete Using Blast Furnace Slag Coarse Aggregate)

  • The effects of blast furnace slag, hwang-toh, and reinforcing fiber on the physical and mechanical properties of porous concrete using blast furnace slag coarse aggregates have been evaluated in this study. The effect of the depending on replacement ratio of blast furnace slag to cement was investigated such that the replacement ratio was varied to 0 %, 25 % and 50 %. Also, the replacement ratios of hwang-toh were 0, 20 and 30 %. The polyvinyl alcohol fiber was used for the reinforcing fiber. A series of pH, unit mass, and void ratio tests have been performed to study the physical properties of the porous concrete using blast furnace slag coarse aggregates with the polyvinyl alcohol fiber and the replacement ratios of blast furnace slag, hwang-toh, while a series of compressive tests have been performed to evaluate the strength property depending on polyvinyl alcohol fiber and the replacement ratios of blast furnace slag, hwang-toh. The test results indicated that the physical and mechanical properties of porous concrete using blast furnace slag coarse aggregates is affected by the replacement ratio of blast furnace slag, and the fiber contents. According to the tests with polyvinyl alcohol fiber contents, the void ratio was decreased and the compressive strength was upgraded.

보강섬유의 표면처리에 따른 섬유보강 고강도콘크리트와 CFRP 보강근의 부착특성 (Bond Properties of CFRP Rebar in Fiber Reinforced High Strength Concrete with Surface Treatment Methods of Reinforcing Fibers)

  • 본 연구에서는 CFRP 보강근과 고강도콘크리트의 부착강도에 미치는 보강섬유의 표면처리 방법의 효과를 평가하였다. 표면을 친수성 물질로 코팅된 구조용 PVA 섬유 및 기하학적 변형으로 변형된 절곡형 폴리올레핀계 구조용 합성섬유를 보강섬유로 사용하였다. 섬유의 표면처리 방법에 따른 고강도콘크리트의 강도특성을 평가하기 위하여 압축강도 실험을 실시하였다. 고강도콘크리트와 CFRP 보강근 사이의 부착특성은 직접 부착강도시험을 의하여 평가하였다. 시험 결과는 섬유의 표면처리 방법은 고강도콘크리트와 CFRP 보강근 사이의 부착거동에 영향을 미쳤다. 또한 고강도콘크리트에 섬유의 첨가는 할렬균열의 발생 및 성장을 조절함으로써 고강도콘크리트와 CFRP 보강근 사이의 부착거동, 부착강도 및 상대부착강도의 증가시켰다.

강섬유보강 패널구조의 보강효과 분석 및 인성평가 기법 (Steel Fiber Reinforcing Effect Analysis of Slab Panel Structure and Assessment Technics of Toughness)

  • 터널의 숏크리트 라이닝이나 포장 콘크리트 보강용으로 요접철망(wire mesh)을 대신해서 강섬유가 사용되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 강섬유 보강으로 인한 인성평가 대상 구조물을 slab panel 구조($60{\times}60{\times}10$cm)로 하고, 강섬유 혼입률은 콘크리트 용적의 0.5% ~ 2%로 다양화하였다. 이 때 사용한 강섬유는 Dramix ZC type으로 직경은 0.8mm, 길이는 60mm이다. 강섬유 효과의 상대평가를 위한 용접철망(wire mesh)보강은 상면, 하면, 상하면 보강으로 하였다. 이들 실험 결과를 각국의 인성 평가 방법으로 비교 검토한 결과 슬래브(slab) 시험체 적용을 위한 EFNARC의 방법은 25mm의 처짐까지 측정하는 것이 너무 큰 것으로 평가되었고, 보의 휨인성 평가법을 적용하여 검토한 결과에서는 Johnston(II)방법에 의한 $I_{5.5}$ 가장 적절하였으며, JCI-SF4방법에서 지간의 1/150까지 측정하는 것은 너무 작았다. 또한 강섬유로 용접철망(wire mesh)을 효과적으로 대치할 수 있음을 알 수 있었고, 인성효과에 유용한 강섬유 혼입량은 0.5% ~ 1%범위에 있는 것으로 나타났다.

외부조건의 변화에 따른 섬유보강콘크리트의 내구성능 정가에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Evaluation of Durability of Fiber Reinforced Concrete According to the Change of External Conditions)

  • This study was intended to evaluate the permeable performance through a change of reinforcing materials, curing condition, durability evaluation and permeability test, and to select the reinforcing material which could reduce the durability and water tightness from it, as the study for considering how the change of the outside's environment factors that the concrete structure actually contacted with impacted the concrete's durability especially the permeability by referring to such the background of the study. Accordingly, it was judged that evaluating the permeability by considering the severe environment condition where the concrete structure was placed in was more reasonable than measuring the existing permeability coefficient conducted in the sound state for the permeability evaluation of actually-used concrete structure. In this study, it also could be known that the specimen of hybrid fiber reinforced concrete which mixed the long and short steel fiber was the most effective for water tightness enhancement in severe environmental conditions.
