This paper investigates the effect of ductile deformation behavior of high performance hybrid fiber-reinforced cement composites (HPHFRCCs) on the shear behavior of coupling beams to lateral load reversals. The matrix ductility and the reinforcement layout were the main variables of the tests. Three short coupling beams with two different reinforcement arrangements and matrixes were tested. They were subjected to cyclic loading by a suitable experimental setup. All specimens were characterized by a shear span-depth ratio of 1.0. The reinforcement layouts consisted of a classical scheme and diagonal scheme without confining ties. The effects of matrix ductility on deflections, strains, crack widths, crack patterns, failure modes, and ultimate shear load of coupling beams have been examined. The combination of a ductile cementitious matrix and steel reinforcement is found to result in improved energy dissipation capacity, simplification of reinforcement details, and damage-tolerant inelastic deformation behavior. Test results showed that the HPFRCC coupling beams behaved better than normal reinforced concrete control beams. These results were produced by HPHFRCC's tensile deformation capacity, damage tolerance and tensile strength.
Six reinforced concrete beam-column joint specimens were constructed and tested under reverse cyclic loading to failure. The six specimens were divided into three groups, each group representing a different joint design. The main objectives of this study are to investigate the response of joints with three different design, reinforcement detailing and beam strengths, and to evaluate and compare the responses of beam-column joints reinforced with traditional steel rebar and a recently proposed steel reinforcement called prefabricated cage system (PCS). Each of the three test specimen designs included equivalent amount of steel reinforcement and had virtually identical details. The results of the research show that the PCS reinforced joints had a slightly higher strength and significantly larger deformation capacity than the equivalent rebar reinforced joints.

This study suggests a methodology for automatically extracting placing information from 2D reinforced concrete details drawings and generating a 3D reinforcement placing model to develop a mobile augmented reality for bar placing work. To make it easier for users to acquire placing information, it is suggested that users takes pictures of structural drawings using a camera built into a mobile device and extract placing information using vision recognition and the OCR(Optical Character Registration) tool. In addition, an augmented reality app is implemented using the game engine to allow users to automatically generate 3D reinforcement placing model and review the 3D models by superimposing them with real images. Details are described for application to the proposed methodology using the previously developed programming tools, and the results of implementing reinforcement augmented reality models for typical members at construction sites are reviewed. It is expected that the methodology presented as a result of application can be used for learning bar placing work or construction review.
This paper contains the experimental results on strengthening effect of RC beams strengthened with NSM CFRP reinforcement and various strengthening details. A total of 14 beams have been tested to analyze strengthening effects of NSMR with various reinforcement details. Variables were cross-sectional shape of CFRP reinforcements, strengthening areas, grooves the number and location etc. Test results revealed that failure modes of NSMR showed two types. One was bond failure at interface between concrete and filler and the other was CFRP rupture. Also, failure mode of specimens with two grooves occurred premature bond failure because of superposition of failure surfaces at concrete around grooves. failure mode of MI specimens considered the equivalent section have changed bond failure to CFRP rupture and CFRP efficiency has improved 83% to 100%.

Headed bars have used to the anchoring of the tension or compression longitudinal bars and of the shear reinforcing bars. Recently, lap splices of headed bars are attempted to the joints of precast concrete members and to the connections between old and new concrete members. Previous Michael's experimental research showed that confinement details had an effect on the lap splice performances of headed bars. In this study, the lap splice performances of headed bars(D25) with lap length and confinement details are evaluated through the experimental works. Four specimens, of which variables were the lap length of headed bar and the type of confine details, were tested for the performance evaluation on lap splice. Test results show that the lap length confinement reinforcement improve the performance of lap splice.

recently there have been many destructive seismic events in Kobe Japan in 1995 and in Northridge California USA in 1994. etc. The Korean Bridge Design Standard Specifications adopted the seismic design requirements in 1992. Comparing the earthquake magnitude in Korea with those in the west coast of the USA it may be said that the current seismic design requirements of the Korean Bridge Design Standard Specifications provides too conservation design results especially for transverse reinforcement details and amount in reinforced concrete columns. This fact usually makes construction problems in concrete casting due to transverse reinforcement congestion. And the effective stiffness Ieff depends on the axial load P(Ag{{{{ {f }_{ck } }}) and the longitudinal reinforcement ratio Ast/Ag and it is conservative to use the effective stiffness Ieff than the gross section moment Ig. Seismic design for transverse reinforcement content of concrete column is considered of extreme-fiber compression strain R-factor axial load and stiffness etc.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the structural performance of doubly reinforced composite beams with steel fiber concretes and steel angles. For this purpose, total 6 specimens whose variables are shear span-to-depth ratio, existence of shear reinforcement, and shear reinforcement details, are made and tested. All specimens are constructed of steel fiber concretes with specified compressive strength of 30 MPa and steel fiber volumn content of 1%. From the experimental results, structural performance of doubly reinforced composite beams are evaluated in terms of strength, stiffness, ductility, and energy absorbing capacity. For the better structural performance, it is recommended that the composite beam is designed with diagonal shear reinforcement.

In this study, a general low-rise building was selected to compare the new shear wall reinforcement method, which is a general method among the existing reinforcement methods, and the reinforcement method using sinusoidal corrugated web reinforcement. And it was confirmed that the following effects can be expected. Sinusoidal corrugated web members can be carried out in a short period of time as it does not require the removal of the masonry filling wall, the reinforcement of reinforcing bars, and the curing period of the concrete. It is effective in preventing damage that may occur when masonry filling wall is overturned in the out-of-plane direction, and the burden of the foundation is also reduced, and thus the construction period and cost required for reinforcement can greatly be reduced. By adjusting the number of sinusoidal corrugated web member, details of joints, and reinforcement positions, the flow of load can be induced to have an advantageous effect on the building. It can be considered as the most suitable reinforcement plan in terms of life safety. Unlike the shear wall that fills between the columns, the sinusoidal corrugated web members, which has a width of 1.5m, can install openings between two columns depending on the purpose of use, and can be expected to have a great effect in terms of usability due to its free installation location. As mentioned above, the seismic reinforcement using a sinusoidal corrugated web members, can expect great effect compared to conventional reinforcement methods in terms of usability, economic feasibility, and stability.

U-flanged truss beam is composed of u-shaped upper steel flange, lower steel plate of 8mm or more thickness, and connecting lattice bars. Upper flange and lower plate are connected by the diagonal lattice bars welded on the upper and lower sides. In this study, the details of delayed buckling of lattice members were developed through reinforcement of the end section, in order to improve structural capacity of U-flanged Truss Steel Beam. To verify the effects of these details, the simple beam experiment was conducted. The maximum capacity of all the specimens were determined by the buckling of the lattice. The vertical reinforced details of the ends with steel plates, rather than the details reinforced with steel bars, are confirmed to be a valid method for enhancing the structural capacity of the U-flanged Truss beam. In addition, U-flanged Truss Steel Beam with reinforced endings with steel plates can exhibit sufficient capacity of the lattice buckling by the formulae according to Korean Building Code (KBC, 2016) and Eurocode 3.

In order to effectively resist seismic loads, coupling beams must be sufficiently stiff, strong and posses a stable load-deflection hysteretic response. This paper reports experimental data on the seismic performance of precast HPFRCC coupling beams with variable details. Precast HPFRCC coupling beam was tested to evaluate their failure modes. shear behavior, micro crack pattern and energy dissipation. Based on the experimental results, precast coupling beam with diagonal and rhombic details offer greater performance and ductility than coupling beam with normal detail.
