In this paper, weakly bonded ultra-high-strength steel bars (UHSS) were used as longitudinal reinforcement in recycled aggregate concrete shear walls to achieve resilient performance. The study evaluated the repairability and hysteresis performance of shear walls before and after retrofitting. Quasi-static tests were performed on recycled aggregate concrete (RAC) and steel fiber reinforced recycled aggregate concrete (FRAC) shear walls to investigate the reparability of resilient shear walls when loaded to 1% drift ratio. Results showed that shear walls exhibited drift-hardening properties. The maximum residual drift ratio and residual crack width at 1% drift ratio were 0.107% and 0.01mm, respectively, which were within the repairable limits. Subsequently, shear walls were retrofitted with bonded X-shaped CFRP strips and steel plates wrapped at the bottom and retested. Except for a slight reduction in initial stiffness, earthquake-damaged resilient shear walls retrofitted with a composite method still had satisfactory hysteresis performance. A revised damage assessment index D, has been proposed to assess of damage degree. Moreover, finite-element analysis for the shear wall before and after retrofit retrofitting was established in OpenSees and verified with experimental results. The finite element results and test results were in good agreement. Finally, parametric analysis was performed.

During the earthquake, for multi-story structure, if the first floor is soft, the deformation will concentrate on that floor causing a serious damage to the column members which might leads to the collapse of the whole structure like Piloti structure during the Pohang earthquake in Korea. According to the 2016 National Disaster Management Research Institute's "Investigation of Seismic Reinforcement and Cost Analysis of Domestic Non-seismic Buildings", the rate of seismic resistance of private reinforced concrete buildings was 38.3 %. Among them, it was reported that the seismic-resistance ratio of the two to five-story structures was less than 50 %. Accordingly, the government is trying to improve the seismic rate through support projects, but the conventional seismic reinforcement methods are still expensive, and emergency construction is difficult. Therefore, in this study, the field applicability was evaluated by improving the reinforcement method using Velcro, which was developed through the research project of the Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs in 2014. In order to improve the performance of the Velcro reinforcement method, introducing the initial tension of Velcro using high foaming rigid urethane filling between the Velcro and concrete of the columns was applied. Additionally, an experiment was conducted to evaluate the ductility of Velcro specimen from the concrete confinement effect. As a result, the ductility of the Velcro specimen was improved compare to Normal specimen. However, the energy dissipation capacity of VELCRO2 is better than VELCRO1, yet the maximum ductility of those two specimens did not show a significant difference. Therefore, the improvement of the internal filler material is still needed to have a better maximum ductility.
In this study, performance of fiber-reinforced polymer-modified mortar was studied for the development of eco-friendly materials for high performance repair and reinforcement. The general cement mortar and eco-friendly UM resin was mixed with a certain percentage for increased durability. To increase the strength of the polymer-modified mortar, PVA fiber, steel fiber and hybrid fiber were added at a constant rate. Hybrid fiber is contains the same percentage of PVA fiber and steel fiber. In order to determine the strength properties of fiber-reinforced polymer-modified mortar, the compressive strength test, the splitting tensile strength test and the flexural strength test were performed. And, in order to determine the durability properties of fiber-reinforced polymer-modified mortar, water absorption test and chemical resistance test were performed. From the experimental results, polymer-modified mortar using UM resin was improved durability. And the tensile strength and flexural strength increased, which were the vulnerability of fiber reinforced polymer-modified mortar. From this study, fiber-reinforced polymer-modified mortar using eco-friendly UM resin can be used to repair and reinforcement for the external exposure of concrete structures to improve the durability.

Recently, earthquakes have frequently occurred near Korean peninsula. An experimental study is needed for developing a reinforcing method for seismic strengthening to apply to RC structures. Recently, PolyUrea (PU) as structural reinforcement materials has been receiving great interest from construction industry. The reinforcing effect of PU appeared to be excellent under blast and impact as well as earthquakes. In this study, Flexible Type PolyUrea (FTPU) developed in preceding studies was modified to develop Stiff Type PolyUrea (STPU) by varying the ratio of the components of prepolymer and hardener of FTPU. The material performance evaluation has been performed through hardening time, tensile strength and percent elongation test, pull-off test, and shore hardness test. The experimental results showed that STPU has higher tensile strength and lower elongation than FTPU. Therefore, STPU coating agent can be used for semi-permanent products. By using STPU with Fiber-Reinforced Polymer (FRP) on concrete columns, confinement effect can be enhanced to maximize seismic strength and ductility.
The main objective of this study is the assessment of the ability of limestone mortars to resist to different chemical attacks. The ability of polypropylene (PP) fibres waste used as reinforcement of these concrete materials to enhance their durability is also studied. Crushed sand 0/2 mm which is a fine limestone residue obtained by the crushing of natural rocks in aggregates industry is used for the fabrication of the mortar. The fibres used, which are obtained from the waste of domestic plastic sweeps' fabrication, have a length of 20 mm and a diameter ranging between 0.38 and 0.51 mm. Two weight fibres contents are used, 0.5 and 1%. The durability tests carried out in this investigation included the water absorption by capillarity, the mass variation, the flexural and the compressive strengths of the mortar specimens immersed for 366 days in 5% sodium chloride, 5% magnesium sulphate and 5% sulphuric acid solutions. A mineralogical analysis by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and a visual inspection are used for a better examination of the quality of tested mortars and for better interpretation of their behaviour in different solutions. The results indicate that the reinforcement of limestone mortar by PP fibres waste is an excellent solution to improve its chemical resistance and durability. Moreover, the presence of PP fibres waste does not affect significantly the water absorption by capillarity of mortar nether its mass variation, when exposed to chloride and sulphate solutions. While in sulphuric acid, the mass loss is higher with the presence of PP fibres waste, especially after an exposure of 180 days. The results reveal that these fibres have a considerable effect of the flexural and the compressive behaviour of mortar especially in acid solution, where a reduction of strength loss is observed. The mineralogical analysis confirms the good behaviour of mortar immersed in sulphate and chloride solutions; and shows that more gypsum is formed in mortar exposed to acid environment causing its rapid degradation. The visual observation reveals that only samples exposed to acid attack during 366 days have showed a surface damage extending over a depth of approximately 300 ㎛.
To fundamentally solve the problem of deterioration of concrete structures, it has been researched that the high durable concrete structure reinforced with the FRP rebar can be one of major solution to the newly-developed concrete structure. FRP rebar has lots of advantages such as non-corrosive, high performance and light weight against the conventional steel rebar. Among these kinds of FRP rebars, GFRP rebar has usually been considered as the best reinforcement because of its economic point of view. Even though the material capacity of the GFRP rebar was already investigated, there are some problems such as low modulus of elastic that will be cause for degrade of the serviceability of flexural concrete member reinforced with the GFRP rebar. Thus, the deflection characteristics of the GFRP rebar reinforced concrete structure should be considered then investigated. In this study, ACI 440 guideline (2003), ISIS Canada Design Manual (2001) and Toutanji et al. (2000) was considered for predicting the moment of inertia of the concrete beam reinforced with the GFRP rebar. And it was also evaluated that load-deflection relationship had a good accordance with the test and analysis result. In the result of this study, it could be estimated that the load-deflection relationship using the suggested equation of moment of inertia in this study indicated better accordance with the test result than that of the others until failure.

Nowaday, most of the low-rise concrete structures which have less than five stories were built before the intensified seismic code was established 2005. According to the fact that our country is not a safety zone ay more, studies are need to reinforce the seismic performance of that structures. The basic frame of low-rise structure are consist of beams and columns with partition walls, therefore that are very weak about secondary wave of earthquake because of the high stiffness. The partition wall are consist of open channel for sunlight or ventilation and intermediate wall. The intermediate walls will enhance the stiffness of columns, but will cause shear failure with short column effects because of the reduced effective depth. But we don't have studies and adequate design code for partition wall effects, therefore some more studies are need for these facts.

The corrosion of reinforcement induced by chloride ingress is the main deterioration cause of coastal reinforced concrete structures. In this paper, an experimental study was executed to investigate the effect of the kinds and replacement ratios of mineral admixtures (fly-ash, ground granulated blast-furnace slag silica fume and meta-kaolin), W/B and curing time on chloride diffusion of concrete by long-time immersion test in chloride solution. According to the result, the use of mineral admixtures was effective in improving the resistant to chloride ingress. The chloride penetration depth and diffusion coefficient were decreased as replacement ratios of mineral admixture were increased. The kind and replacement ratio of the mineral admixture are more important than the W/B in reducing the chloride diffusion of concrete. Chloride binding capacity of mineral admixture, which was sequenced in the order of MK
The construction of underwater structures has been increased, but underwater concrete hassome problems of quality deterioration and contamination around in-situ of civil and architecture; therefore, new materials and methods for them are demanded. In this paper in-situ application of underwater antiwashout concrete which is manufactured for trio purpose of not only decreasing suspended solids and the heat of hydration but also increasing long term strength was studied. In the case of mock-up test(Ⅰ), when underwater antiwashout concrete, whose slump flow was 58 cm, was placed in the mock-up test at a speed of 24 ㎥/hr, it took about a minute to flow to the side wall, and the surface was maintained at horizontal level. In this case, compressive strength of the core specimens in each section was higher than the standard design compressive strength of 240 kgf/㎠. In the case of mock-up test(II), pH value and suspended solids of high strength underwater antiwashout concrete were 10.0∼11.0 and 51 mg/ℓ at 30 minutes later, initial and final setting time were about 30, 37 hr, and the slump flow of that was 53$\pm$2 cm. In the placement at a speed of 27 ㎥/hr, there was no large difference in flowing velocity, with or without reinforcement and flowing slope was maintained at horizontal level. In this case, compressive strength and elastic modulus of the core specimens somewhat decreased as flowing distance was far : however, those of central area showed the highest value.

Polymer-modified cement mortar(PCM) has been widely used for strengthening of the concrete structures due to its excellent physical properties such as high strength and durability. Adhesive strength or behavior, on the other hands, between PCM and concrete is very important in strengthening the concrete member using PCM. Therefore the adhesive failure mechanism between PCM and concrete should be fully verified and understood. This study was performed to evaluate adhesive strength of PCM to the concrete by the direct pull-out test. In the direct pull-out tests, the adhesive strength under the various pre-treatment conditions such as immersion, thunder shower, freezing and thawing are evaluated. Also, the field direct pull-out test are performed to investigate the adhesive strength of mock-up test specimens. In the results of the test, the adhesive strength value by field test are lower than those of the standard curing condition. From these comparison and investigation, field test result was similar with the thunder shower test result. The results of the test was used to evaluate the korean industrial standard of polymer modified cement mortars for maintenance in concrete.
