  • Since the amendment of the law on the private sector investment in social infrastructure in January of 2005, the government has been actively promoting Build-Transfer-Lease (BTL) projects. Notably, most new educational facilities have been built as BTL projects. For these facilities, the unit cost per unit area has been applied to predict construction costs. However, since construction costs are mostly managed after the detailed design phase, the costs can be estimated incorrectly. For this reason, cost management is needed in the planning phase, with a sound approximate estimate to prevent the wasteful use of funds. To address this shortcoming, this study aims to develop a quantity prediction model for education facilities using regression analysis in the planning phase. The developed model is focused on the required quantities of reinforced concrete and bricks. In order to achieve the objective, the data of 44 educational facility projects collected from Gyeonggi-do was used in the regression model. This study can be utilized by major stakeholders to accurately predict construction costs by estimating the appropriate quantities of reinforced concrete and bricks in the planning design phase.

  • The random regression model methodology was applied into the estimation of genetic parameters for body weights in Chinese Simmental cattle to replace the traditional multiple trait models. The variance components were estimated using Gibbs sampling procedure on Bayesion theory. The data were extracted for Chinese Simmental cattle born during 1980 to 2000 from 6 national breeding farms, where records from 3 months to 36 months were only used in this study. A 3 orders Legendre polynomial was defined as the submodel to describe the general law of that body weight changing with months of age in population. The heritabilities of body weights from 3 months to 36 months varied between 0.31 and 0.48, where the heritabilities from 3 months to 12 months slightly decreased with months of age but ones from 13 months to 36 months increased with months of age. Specially, the heritabilities at eighteenth and twenty-fourth month of age were 0.33 and 0.36, respectively, which were slightly greater than 0.30 and 0.31 from multiple trait models. In addition, the genetic and phenotypic correlations between body weights at different month ages were also obtained using regression model.

  • This paper aims to investigate the relationship between country-level institutional quality and public debt in the context of Pakistan. The hypotheses of this study were assessed by using the country-level institutional quality data for Pakistan throughout the years from 1996 to 2018. Data came from the World Databank, IMF and Worldwide Governance Indicators databases. For the analysis, ordinary least square, quantile regression and robust regression were employed to assess the factors influencing the public debt. The results of this study indicate that the factors of voice and accountability, regulatory quality, and control of corruption have a positive and significant relationship with public debt, while political stability, government effectiveness, and the rule of law have a negative and significant effect on public debt. Based on the findings, a weak country-level institutional quality poses a substantial market risk as it signals the existence of an unfavorable economic condition that raises public debt. It was also revealed that an improved performance of country-level institutional quality can lead to the improvement of financial market transparency, hence reduce public debt. In contrast to previous studies, the present study will be breaking ground in enhancing public insight regarding the impact of country-level institutional quality on Pakistan's public debt.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify what factors are associated with marital satisfaction of the foreign wives who live in small town. Data for the study were based on a snowball sampling of 101 foreign wives who married to Korean husbands and had residence in Changwon and Masan city, Gyeongnam, Korea. The respondents reported higher levels of marital satisfaction and lower levels of marital hardship. To identify the variables affecting marital satisfaction, a regression analysis was conducted. Independent variables included age difference, educational difference, monthly income, conformity of information about husband, marital hardship, relationship with parents-in-law and taking class with husband. While conformity of information about husband, marital hardship and taking class with husband had strong effects on marital satisfaction of the foreign wives, age difference, educational difference, monthly income and relationship with parents-in-law didn't show the significant effects on the marital satisfaction of the foreign wives.

  • This study aims to present the effects of the introduction of the Compliance Program in Korea on real trade and its implication by empirical analysis. First, through regression analysis based on the data of the amount of permitted export by CP items (HSK10 units) during the period of 2010-2016 in Korea, it is revealed that the increase in export license of CP enterprises has a relatively greater effect on the increase in total imports by item. Second, since the introduction of the rating system under the optional CP in 2014, the increase in export licenses of CP companies has had a greater impact on the total export growth by items than before. Also, it is analyzed that the increase of export permission of CP companies has a relatively less effect on the increase of total imports by item than that of total exports. The results of this empirical analysis show that CP has a positive effect on exports and imports, but it needs to be supplemented in terms of efficiency.

  • Korea has been faced a difficult situation with regard to the cost of physical distribution(PD). The problem have arisen from the fact that Korean firms have far different cost structures of the PD according to its industry or business. High PD costs sometimes reduce firms' operating income and perceived competitive disadvantages not only in domestic but in world-wide business. In this research, we examine the factors affecting firm's PD cost by investigating financial and non-financial variables such as variable cost to sales ratio and number of employee of a firm. Analyses are performed to construct research models with t-test and the logistic regression estimation.

  • The rheological and penetration characteristics of sodium alginate and xanthan gum aqueous solutions were analyzed for the development of biopolymer-based injection materials. The results of viscosity measurements for the rheological characteristics analysis show that all aqueous biopolymer solutions exhibit a tendency for shear-thinning, i.e., the apparent viscosity decreases as the shear rate increases. In addition, a regression analysis using several models (Power-law, Casson, Sisko, and Cross) was applied to the shear-thinning fluid analysis results, the highest accuracy was determined by applying the power-law model. The micromodel experiment for the penetration characteristics analysis determined that all biopolymer aqueous solutions show higher pore saturation than water, and that pore saturation tends to increase as the flow rate and concentration increases. When comparing the rheological and penetration characteristics of the biopolymer aqueous solution used in this study, the xanthan gum aqueous solution showed a fully developed shear-thinning tendency, unlike the sodium alginate aqueous solution. This tendency is considered to have the advantage of enhancement injectability and pore saturation.

  • Dispersion pattern for adult citrus red mite (CRM), Panonychus citri (McGregor) using by Taylor's power law (TPL) and Iwao's patchiness regression (IPR) was determined to develop a monitoring method on citrus orchards, on Jeju, in Autumn season, during 2001 and 2002.CRM population was sampled by collecting leaves and fruits. The relationships of CRM adults between leaf and fruit were analyzed by different season. The regression equation for CRM adults between leaf (X) and fruit (Y) was ln(Y+1) : 1.029 ln(X+1) ( $r^2$ : 0.80). The density of CRM was higher on fruit than on leaf according to fruit maturing level. TPL provided better description of mean-variance relation-ship for the dispersion indices compared to IPR. Slopes and intercepts of TPL from leaf and fruit samples did not differ between sample units and surveyed years. Fixed-precision levels (D) of a sequential sampling plan were developed using Taylor's power law parameters generated from adults of CRM in leaf sample. Sequential sampling plans for adults of CRM were developed for decision making CRM population level based on the different action threshold levels (2.0,2.5 and 3.0 mites per leaf) with 0.25 precision. The maximum number of trees and required number of trees sampled on fixed sample size plan on 2.0,2.5 and 3.0 thresholds with 0.25 precision level were 19, 16 and 15 and their critical values T$_{critical}$ at were 554,609 and 659, respectively. were 554,609 and 659, respectively.
