열전도성 플라스틱을 이용한 김치냉장고용 열교환기에 관한 연구 (Research on the Heat Exchanger for Kimchi Refrigerator Using Thermal Conductive Plastic)

  • The kimchi refrigerator is the electric home appliance which is used for the maturing and preserving of the kimchi in domestic and foreign market. The kimchi refrigerator is composed in 3 main parts as insulation. kimchi container, machinery room. The heat exchanger of kimchi refrigerator is made of aluminum and the other parts are made of steel and polymer. Also, kimchi refrigerator is expensive and heavy as compared with same class of refrigerator until now. In the present study, the possibility to replace heat exchanger from aluminum to thermal conductive plastic was analyzed and experimented. The thermal conductive plastic has $10{\sim}100$ times heat conductivity than that of normal plastic. It is known that heat transfer process is dependent not only conduction but convection or radiation. Thermal conductivity of the applied material in this research is over than 2 W/mK, thermal conductivity doesn't play a vital role on heat transfer. In this study, temperature is the most important parameter on the kimchi refrigerator and the temperature of kimchi refrigerator's heat exchanger was measured and compared with the temperature calibrated by CFD analysis on the inside wall of the kimchi refrigerator. It is important to keep constantly the inside temperature of the Kimchi refrigerator. Besides numerical analyses for the new thermal conductive plastic for heat exchanger were executed with the various height of evaporation tube. A series of experiments were conducted to compare the performance of the two heat exchanger made of aluminum and thermal conductive plastic at the same condition and certified the possibility of the thermal conductive plastic. According to these results, it was confirmed that the conventional aluminium heat exchanger can be replaced by thermal conductive plastic successfully.

소형 흡착식 냉동기에 대한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Investigation on Small-scale Sorption Refrigerator)

  • This paper describes an experimental study on small-scale sorption refrigerator. Silica gel (type A) as an adsorbent, HFC-l34a as a refrigerant were selected for a sorption refrigerator The focus of the design was to reduce the cycle time of the sorption refrigerator. Through the experiment, pressure and temperature variations in the adsorber were measured and the performance of refrigerator was predicted. In this paper, the small-scale sorption refrigerator operates with the cycle time of 4805. Its predicted cooling capacity is 25 W at -15$^{\circ}C$ and COP is 0.23.

  • This paper presents designing method to reduce the noise and vibration in the wine refrigerator. To improve the noise and gas pulsation of the compressor the silencer is designed. Base plate of the refrigerator is modified to reduce the vibration by the modal testing. By applying the spring grommet, we can reduce the transmission of the refrigerator of the compressor. We measure PWL and the vibration of LG wine refrigerator and a different wine cellar. As the result of the evaluation, we can rightly take pride in the worldwide recognition of LG wine refrigerator

  • An experimental study was carried out to improve the cooling capacity and performance of the pulse tube refrigerator. Three buffer pulse tube refrigerator was designed and fabricated, and the experimental apparatus was constructed. This paper presents operating process of three buffer pulse tube refrigerator and results obtained with the performance test. The cooldown characteristics and load characteristics are described. The lowest temperature measured in three pulse tube refrigerator was 88K and the cooling capacity at the optimum operating condition was 27W at 120K.

  • The noise pattern of a household refrigerator is dependent on the characteristics of its operating cycle which is repeated with a specific pattern depending on various parameters, such as room temperature and performance of its mechanical parts. Analysis of noise pattern is essential prior to evaluation of sound quality of a refrigerator. In this study, 14 units of refrigerator were classified into 4 types according to noise pattern and sort of mechanical part, which helps to analyze characteristics of refrigerator noise. Sound quality metrics(loudness, sharpness, roughness, and fluctuation strength) were calculated to compare noise pattern of the 4 types of refrigerator. The results of this study can be useful to decide noise performance of refrigerator.

  • Pulse tube refrigerator, which has no moving parts at its cold section, is attractive fer obtaining higher reliability, simpler construction and lower vibration than Stilting refrigerator or Gifford-McMahon refrigerator. Commonly used means to achieve optimum performance of Stilting type pulse tube refrigerator is an inertance tube. The use of inertance tube is a simple way to generate the phase shift needed to make pulse tube refrigerator operate as efficiently as Stilting refrigerator. In this study, the performance of the inertance pulse tube refrigerator (IPTR) was investigated experimentally. An in-line type IPTR consists of a linear compressor with two reciprocating pistons driven by linear motors, which makes pressure waves, a regenerator a pulse tube with the inertance tube, and a reservoir, The dynamic pressures (the compressor, pulse tube, reservior) and the temperature at the cold heat exchanger are measured to explore the dependence of the inertance tube on the performance of the IPTR. The experimental results show the dependency of cool-down characteristics, no-load temperature and amplitude of the pressures on the length and diameter of the inertance tube.

  • Kimchi refrigerator is a specific refrigerator for Kimchi, Korean traditional fermented food. It has been fast popularized since it was developed about ten years ago. In this study, a survey was conducted with 103 female voluntary respondents to understand the customer satisfaction of the Kimchi refrigerator in the aspect of physical use. The respondents showed a high satisfaction for the use of refrigerators. It was, however, shown that they felt highly uncomfortable in using the refrigerator. In particular, the high discomfort was related to the fact that the customer should bend her torso very much to put Kimchi containers into the refrigerator, take them out of it, or clean its inside. Seventy-five percent of the respondents reported the experience of body-part pains and 58.4% of them reported pain experience in the back. It is presumed that these results are highly correlated to the top-cover design of the refrigerator, which is the most popular type to improve its performance of maintaining proper temperature. Therefore, the developers should consider these usability problems related to the refrigerator and try to enhance its usability by adopting ergonomics in the design stage.

강제대류방식 PCM 축냉장고 개발 (The Development of a PCM Cold Storage Refrigerator using Forced Convection Method)

  • A cold storage refrigerator using phase change material(PCM) has been developed and its performance test results are provided here. The inner temperature of the refrigerator is controlled with forced convection driven by a fan using a DC battery. At the first, to freeze all the PCM of the ambient temperature by a built-in refrigerating machine, it took about 8 and 10 hours respectively at the refrigerator and the freezer mode. Then, without external power supply, the inner temperature of the cold storage refrigerator has been maintained at $-18{\pm}1^{\circ}C$ during 14 hours at the freezer mode and maintained at $3{\pm}^{\circ}C$ during 34 hours at the refrigerator mode. Just after the end of its valid usage as a refrigerator or a freezer, it took about 6 hours to refreeze the PCM for its reuse. During the test, the ambient temperature was kept at $30^{\circ}C$.

Consumer Hygiene Practices Regarding the Use of Home Refrigerators to Store Meat in the Capital Area of Korea

  • Food hygiene practices must be maintained from farm to table in order to prevent contamination by microorganisms. This study was conducted to investigate consumer hygiene practices related to the refrigerator storage of meat, including a microbial analysis, monitoring of refrigerator temperatures and consumer surveys of female homeowners in the capital area of Korea. Home refrigerator temperatures were maintained above $5^{\circ}C$ in 26 (19.7%) of the 132 houses investigated. The percentage of the refrigerators with a total microbial count over $10^2\;CFU/100\;cm^2$ was 14.4%. No E. coli, Salmonella spp. or Listeria monocytogenes microbes were detected. However, Staphylococcus aureus was detected in 14 houses (10.6%). The only statistically significant difference in hygiene practices between the non-contamination group and contamination group was in the last time of refrigerator cleaning (p<0.01), as determined by the consumer survey. To improve food hygiene when using a refrigerator, raw materials must be packaged, meat should be stored only on a designated shelf, and cooked foods must be contained to prevent cross-contamination. The refrigerator should be cleaned regularly, at least once a month, and refrigerator thermometers should be monitored below $5^{\circ}C$ in order to keep food safe.

소형 압축기를 이용한 관성관형 맥동관 냉동기의 성능 특성에 대한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on Performance of the Inertance Pulse Tube Refrigerator using a Small Compressor)

  • This paper describes an experimental study on the inertance pulse tube refrigerator using a small compressor. The purpose of this experimental study is to identify the performance of the inertance pulse tube refrigerator for various operating conditions and to obtain the optimum configuration. The dead volume effect is verified by two experimental apparatuses with different dead volumes between the compressor and the aftercooler. The refrigerator of the smaller dead volume shows better performance. The influence of operating frequency and charging pressure on the performance of the refrigerator is experimentally investigated. Reducing the regenerator mesh size improves the performance of the refrigerator. Finally, the inertance pulse tube refrigerator has maximum cooling capacity at the specific combination of the pulse tube length and the inertance tube length. The loss analysis is used to analyze and predict the optimum condition of the pulse tube refrigerator.
