  • The investment on informatization has caused the increase in complexity of IT resources as well as inefficiency of Information system management and redundant investment. Thus, the idea of EA (Enterprise Architecture) was developed in order to manage the IT resources efficiently but the systematical guideline was insufficiently provided in data area.. Because of this, it is necessary to make full use of DRM (Data Reference Model) so we can enhance the sharing and reuse of data between several institutions in public sector by extracting and managing data behind processes. In this study, we recognize the necessity of improvement on data classification which is highly utilized and present the direction for the data classification rethesis.

  • Ship route planning is to find a route to minimize voyage time and/or fuel consumption in a given sea state. Unlike previous studies, this study proposes an optimization method for the route planning to avoid the grounding risk near the coast. The route waypoints were searched using A* algorithm, and the route simplification was performed to remove redundant waypoints using Douglas-Peucker algorithm. The optimization was performed to minimize fuel consumption by setting the optimization design parameters to the engine rpm. The sea state factors such as wind, wave, and current are also considered for route planning. We propose the constraint to avoid ground risk by using under keel clearance obtained from electoronic navigational chart. The proposed method was applied to find the optimal route between Mokpo and Jeju. The result showed that the proposed method suggests the optimal route that minimizes fuel consumption.

  • According to the new rules and regulations (New SOLAS), major safety critical systems are to be designed to be redundant, which is called 'Redundancy Design'. This paper was to quantitatively analyze the degree of influence of the redundancy design applied to major safety critical systems using IMO's FSA(formal Safety Assessment) method. For the purpose of this study, the diesel engine system, which is actually one of major safety critical systems, was dealt with FMEA, FTA and ETA technique. In addition, whether the redundancy was met or not was verified and the degree of safety, or redundancy, was represented in terms of reliability. In conclusion, the safety of propulsion systems is possibly assessed systematically by estimating the risk level in terms of frequency and fatality.

  • Increase of aging population and demands for care and support systems, needs and demands for a variety of care services and housing facilities have increased. With the emergence of gerontechnology, tangible and intangible technologies and innovations have been explored and developed in many countries. Since housing environment is very important to define well-being and quality of life of the elderly, technology applications in the living environment are considered as important means. The purpose of this study is to enumerate and investigate technologies for the elderly to assist daily living and help care providers, and to explore technology applications in the built environments. This study also investigate how intelligent technologies are installed in the built environment and physical consideration for a variety of approaches. The content analysis was conducted to investigate technology developments for the elderly based on web materials and publication materials. The seven examples were chosen since they are seeking technologies especially for the elderly or aging-in place. General goals for the diffusion of intelligent homes expecially for the elderly are to be easy to install and remove, unobtrusive, redundant cueing, easy to use, and robust. The results of this study suggest application considerations for the technologies of the built environment for the elderly.

  • This paper proposes a design technique of a survivable ship backbone network, which describes a near optimal configuration scheme of physical and logical topologies of which the survivable ship backbone network consists. We first analyze and present an efficient architecture of a survivable ship backbone network consisting of redundant links and ship devices with dual communication interfaces. Then, we present an integer linear programming-based configuration scheme of a physical topology with regard to the proposed ship backbone network architecture. Finally, we present a metaheuristic-based configuration scheme of a logical topology, underlying the physical topology.

  • RAID(Redundant mays of inexpensive disks) were proposed as a way to use parallelism between multiple disks to improve aggregate I/O performance. The emerging of intelligent I/O architecture provides a standard for high performance I/O subsystems and introducer intelligence at the hardware level. With an embedded processor, intelligent I/O adaptors can offload the major I/O processing workload from the CPU and, at the same time, increase the I/O performance. This parer addresses the essential issue in the design of disk scheduling for intelligent I/O devices. In this paper we compare with MB throughput per second and maximum I/O respond time in RAID.

  • The choice of an irreducible polynomial and the representation of elements have influence on the efficiency of operators for finite fields. This paper suggests two serial multiplier for the extention field GF$(p^n)$ where p is odd prime. A serial multiplier using an irreducible binomial consists of (2n+5) resisters, 2 MUXs, 2 multipliers of GF(p), and 1 adder of GF(p). It obtains the mulitplication result after $n^2+n$ clock cycles. A serial multiplier using an AOP consists of (2n+5) resisters, 1 MUX, 1 multiplier of CF(p), and 1 adder of GF(p). It obtains the mulitplication result after $n^2$+3n+2 clock cycles.

  • Future mobile communications face enormous challenges as traditional voice services are replaced with increasing mobile multimedia and data services. To address the vast data traffic volume and the requirement of user Quality of Experience (QoE) in the next generation mobile networks, it is imperative to develop efficient content distribution technique, aiming at significantly reducing redundant data transmissions and improving content delivery performance. On the other hand, in recent years cloud computing as a promising new content-centric paradigm is exploited to fulfil the multimedia requirements by provisioning data and computing resources on demand. In this paper, we propose a cooperative caching framework which implements State based Content Distribution (SCD) algorithm for future mobile networks. In our proposed framework, cloud service providers deploy a plurality of cloudlets in the network forming a Distributed Cloud Service Network (DCSN), and pre-allocate content services in local cloudlets to avoid redundant content transmissions. We use content popularity and content state which is determined by content requests, editorial updates and new arrivals to formulate a content distribution optimization model. Data contents are deployed in local cloudlets according to the optimal solution to achieve the lowest average content delivery latency. We use simulation experiments to validate the effectiveness of our proposed framework. Numerical results show that the proposed framework can significantly improve content cache hit rate, reduce content delivery latency and outbound traffic volume in comparison with known existing caching strategies.

  • High-speed complex-number arithmetic units are essential to baseband signal processing of modern digital communication systems such as channel equalization, timing recovery, modulation and demodulation. In this paper, a new complex-number multiplication algorithm is proposed, which is based on redundant binary (RB) arithmetic combined with radix-4 Booth recoding scheme. The proposed algorithm reduces the number of partial product by one-half as compared with the conventional direct method using real-number multipliers and adders. It also leads to a highly parallel architecture and simplified circuit, resulting in high-speed operation and low power dissipation. To demonstrate the proposed algorithm, a prototype complex-number multiplier-accumulator (CMAC) core with 10-bit operands has been designed using 0.8-$\mu\textrm{m}$ N-Well CMOS technology. The designed CMAC core contains about 18,000 transistors on the area of about 1.60 ${\times}$ 1.93 $\textrm{mm}^2$. The functional and speed test results show that it can operate with 120-MHz clock at V$\sub$DD/=3.3-V, and its power consumption is given to about 63-mW.

  • The improved Green integral equation using the Kelvin-type Green function in known free of irregular frequencies where the integral over the inner free surface integral is removed from the integral equation, resulting in an overdetermined integral equation. The solution of the overdetermined Green integral equation is shown identical with the solution of the improved Green integral equation Using the B-spline higher order panel method, the overdetermined equation is discretized in two different ways; one of the resulting linear system is square and the other is redundant. Numerical experiments show that the solutions of both are identical. Using the present methods, the exact values and higher derivatives of the potential at any place over the wetted surface of the body can be found with much fewer panels than low order panel method.
