The toxonomic revision of the suborder Labroidei was made based on the specimens collected from the coasts of Korean Peninsula from 1988 to 1996. The fishes of this suborder in Korea are composed 32 species belonging to 22 genera and five families of Pomacentridae, Cichlidae, Embiotocidae, Labridae, and Scaridae. And the keys to species, genera and families are provided with redescriptions and collection data. Among them the specimens of 21 species were collected and Ditrema viridis of family Embiotocidae was the first record from the coast of Wando-gun, Chollanam-do, Korea. Most species of the suborder Labroidei of Korea were mainly distributed in the coast of Cheju Island and South coast influenced by the warm Kuroshio Current.

Three ciliate species of genus Cyrtohymena, C. australis Foissner, 1995, C. citrina (Berger & Foissner, 1987) and C. muscorum (Kahl, 1932) new to Korea, were collected from semi-terrestrial habitats. The description was based on the observation of live and silver stained specimens. Diagnostic characteristics of these species are as follows. C. autralis: size about $275{\times}100{\mu}m$ in live specimens. Cortical granules yellowish. 18-31 right and 31-40 left marginal cirri in number. Dorsal kineties eight rows. C. citrina: size about $180{\times}50{\mu}m$ in live specimens. Cortical granules yellowish. 26-32 right and 23-27 left marginal cirri in number. Dorsal kineties five to six rows. C. muscorum: size about $180{\times}60{\mu}m$ in live specimens. Cortical granules reddish. 31-34 right and 33-36 left marginal cirri in number. Dorsal kineties six rows. Three species of Cyrtohymena have been added to Korean ciliate fauna from this study. Including previous one species of C. quadrinucleata, four species of this genus in total have been recorded so far in this country.
Specimens of Diophrys appendiculata (Ehrenberg, ] 838) and D. scutum (Dujardin, 1841) have been collected from the coastal and brackish waters around near Ulsan, during 2004-2007. Diophrys appendiculata and D. scutum are described taxonomically for the first time in Korea. Diagnostic characteristics of these species are as follows. Diophrys appendiculata: size in vivo $43-68{\times}25-50{\mu}m$, adoral zone of membranelles (AZM) covering 43-74% of cell length in impregnated and 46-65% in vivo specimens with 32-47 adoral membranelles (AM). Paroral membrane is slightly curved. Four to five dorsal kinetal (DK) rows are fragmented and anterior and posterior parts of rows densely ciliated. Two macronuclear nodules (Ma) irregular and elongated oval in shape and widely separated. D. scutum: size in vivo $125-225{\times}75-140{\mu}m$, AZM extending to the middle of right border of body and covering 50-60% of cell length with 56-75 AMs. Body shape is typically ovoid with prominent concave margin at right posterio-lateral end, and rather thick and wide longitudinal ridge along lower buccal cavity on ventral side. Two macronuclei shaped like a sausage. five to six dorsal kineties.
The genus Metopius is a relatively large ichneumonids group that includes 145 species worldwide. In this genus, 41 species have been reported from the Eastern Palaearctic region, while eight species have been reported from Korea. We reviewed Korean species of the genus Metopius and confirmed 13 species. We also report five species, Metopius (Ceratopius) maruyamensis Uchida, 1930, Metopius (Ceratopius) scrobiculatus Hartig, 1838, Metopius (Peltastes) fossulatus Uchida, 1933, Metopius (Peltastes) pinatorius $Brull{\acute{e}}$, 1846 and Metopius (Peltastes) sapporensis Uchida, 1930, which were recorded for the first time from Korea. A key to Korean species of the genus Metopius, redescriptions of newly recorded species and digital images of Korean Metopius are also provided.

Short-palped crane flies belonging to the genus Epiphragma Osten Sacken, 1860 (Diptera: Limoniidae: Limnophilinae) have a worldwide distribution except the Afrotropics, with the highest diversity in Neotropics and Oriental Region. They are divided into four subgenera: Eupolyphragma Alexander, 1948, Epiphragma s. str., Lipophragma Alexander, 1978, and Parepiphragma Alexander, 1960. Diagnostic characters and wing photographs of all subgenera are given. Genus Epiphragma was previously unknown from the Korean Peninsula. Species Epiphragma (Epiphragma) gracilistylus Alexander, 1933 is newly recorded for North Korea, E. (E.) subfascipenne Alexander, 1920 is newly recorded for South and North Korea, and E. (E.) subinsigne Alexander, 1920 is newly recorded for South Korea. These species are taxonomically revised, and the taxonomic status of E. (E.) gracilistylus is discussed. We present an identification key and redescriptions and illustrations of both sexes from all species in Korea. Redescription of larva and pupa of E.(E.) subfascipenne is presented. Elevation range, period of activity, habitat information, general distribution, and a distribution map in Korean Peninsula is given for each species.
Six species of the family Kelleriidae, including four new species, are recorded from tropical waters of the Asia-Pacific, two of them from Phuket Island, Thailand, one each from Bohol Island, Philippines and Phu Quoc Island, Vietnam, and two from Kosrae Island, Micronesia. A new genus Kelleriella is proposed to accomodate one of these new species (Kelleriella quadridens n. sp.). There are three diagnostic features of the new genus: the terminal segment of antenna is armed with one strong claw and six setae, the armature of the maxilliped endopod is reduced, and the third exopodal segment of leg 4 is armed with four spines and five setae. The other three new species are Kelleria latipes n. sp., Kelleria phuketensis n. sp., and Kelleria robusta n. sp. As diagnostic features of these new species, their caudal rami are about 2.5, 3.2, and 1.72 times longer than wide, respectively, the exopod of leg 5 of them is smooth, without any process, about 1.9, 3.7, and 2.9 times longer than wide, respectively, and armed with one spine plus one seta in Kelleria latipes and Kelleria phuketensis or with 2 setae in Kelleria robusta. Additionally, Kelleria javaensis Mulyadi, 2009 is synonymized with Kelleria regalis Gurney, 1927 and Kelleria grandisetiger Kim, 2006 is synonymized with Kelleria andamanensis Sewell, 1949, and both species are redescribed.
This study is based on crane fly specimens collected during an 80-year period (1937-2017) in the Republic of Korea and Democratic People's Republic of Korea, and are in collections maintained at the United States National Museum, Smithsonian Institution, Washington DC, USA; the Snow Entomological Museum, University of Kansas, Lawrence, KS, USA; and the National Institute of Biological Resources, Incheon, South Korea. These crane flies are developing in wet places which usually prevail at lower altitudes, but such areas are often used for agriculture and human settlements, making natural habitats scarce and fragmented. Probably because of that, Limnophila crane flies are rare on the Korean Peninsula and were unnoticed by previous researchers. The genus Limnophila Macquart, 1834 with three species being new record for the Korean Peninsula: L. (Limnophila) japonica Alexander, 1913, L. (L.) pictipennis (Meigen, 1818) and L. (L.) politostriata Alexander, 1934a. General information are presented for each species, such as on genus and subgenus, redescriptions of species based on Korean specimens, illustrations of both sexes, elevation range, period of activity, habitat information, general distribution, and a distribution map for the Korean Peninsula.
This study is based on crane fly specimens collected during more than 80 years, starting from 1938 through 2019, in the Republic of Korea and Democratic People's Republic of Korea and are in collections maintained at the United States National Museum, Smithsonian Institution, Washington DC, USA; the Snow Entomological Museum, University of Kansas, Lawrence, KS, USA; and the National Institute of Biological Resources, Incheon, South Korea. Pilaria crane flies are aquatic and semiaquatic, developing in fast running and stagnant water bodies and in wet muddy places at the margins of water pools. Such habitats usually prevail at lower altitudes, but these areas most often are used for agriculture and human settlement, making natural habitats scarce and fragmented. Pilaria crane flies are rare, thus it is not surprising that genus was left unnoticed by previous researchers. The genus Pilaria Sintenis, 1889 with two species P. melanota Alexander, 1922 and P. simulans Savchenko, 1983, is a new record for the Korean Peninsula. We present general information on the genus, redescriptions of species based on Korean specimens, illustrations of both sexes, elevation range, period of activity, habitat information, general distribution, and a distribution map for the Korean Peninsula for each species.
Two feather mites, Brephosceles anatina Dubinin, 1951 (Analgoidea: Alloptidae) and Freyana anatina (Koch, 1844) (Pterolichoidea: Freyanidae), have been reported for the first time from the Eastern Spot-billed Duck, Anas zonorhyncha Swinhoe, 1866 (Anseriformes: Anatidae), in Korea. The genera Brephosceles Hull, 1934 and Freyana Haller, 1877 are new records of Korean fauna. The morphology of B. anatina is distinguished from three species of the lambda species group in having legs IV extending the level of setae e2 with the distal end of the tarsus in males, and the incision on the posterior margin of the hysteronotal shield triangular-shaped and distinctly longer than its greatest width in females. Freyana anatina is distinguished from F. nyrocae and F. obliquasetae in having setae ps1 with a rectangle bend in homeomorphic males, and setae ps1 obliquely ovate and divergent, with the inner canal going obliquely across the membranous part of these setae in females. This study provides morphological redescriptions of both feather mite species supplemented with partial sequences of mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase subunit I(COI), based on specimens collected in Korea.
Sixteen species of Asterocheres collected from the southern and eastern coasts of Korea are recorded. Two species are redescriptions-Asterocheres aesthetes Ho, 1984 and A. siphonatus Giesbrecht, 1897. The remaining 14 new species described are A. geminus n. sp., A. processus n. sp., A. culicis n. sp., A. eurychelatus n. sp., A. scutellatus n. sp., A. spiniventer n. sp., A. fici n. sp., A. serratus n. sp., A. tridentatus n. sp., A. nodulosus n. sp., A. tetraodontis n. sp., A. dokdoicus n. sp., A. exilis n. sp., and A. zodius n. sp. These new species are compared with other known species of the genus mainly based on the character states of 17 selected characters. These characters include the length/width ratios of the caudal ramus and genital double-somite, the number of postgenital lateral setules or spinules on the genital double-somite of the female, the number of segments of the antennule of both sexes, the position of aesthetasc on antennular segments in the female, the relative length of terminal claw of the antenna, the relative length of the oral siphon, the number of segments and the relative length of the mandibular palp, the presence or absence of inner coxal seta on legs 1 and 4, the relative lengths of setae on the exopod of female leg 5, the presence or absence of sexual dimorphisms of swimming legs, and the presence or absence of a secondary aesthetasc on the male antennule. A key to 22 species of Asterocheres known in Korea waters is provided.
