As one of the methods for recycling the FRP from the waste ships, separation of roving layer from the mat has some merits in a sense of the eco-friendly and economical recycling process. Similar characteristics, however, between the roving and the mat even with different ratio of the resin and the glass and the thickness of the roving, much thinner than the mat, make the mechanically automatic differentiation difficult. In this study spectrochemical differentiation between the two layers has been made using boiling concentrated sulfuric acid, methanol and isopropanol solution saturated with KOH, or hydrogen fluoride (HF) solution. Furthermore efficiently coloring water-soluble dye following the HF treatment makes the roving layer more distinguishable photophysically. The layer differentiation and the automatic layer distraction move up the date of simple and automatic separation process for the waste FRP.
Alumina powder was prepared from heat-treatment of artificial marble waste fine aggregate containing $Al(OH)_3$ for the purpose of the feasibility of its recycling. Artificial marble waste was heat-treated between $500^{\circ}C$ and $1000^{\circ}C$ and XRD, BET surface area, BJH pore size distribution and adsorption of As were analyzed for heat-treated powder. It was found that the adsorption efficiency of As was significantly affected by phase composition of alumina powder rather than its physical characteristic. Heat-treated powder compact was sintered to produce the pellet. Alumina pellet with porosity more than 60% could be obtained after sintering below $1200^{\circ}C$ and also the addition of glass powder as a sintering aid had a positive effect on lowering sintering temperature, led to the high porosity near 60% and adsorption of As over 60% even at $900^{\circ}C$.
To estimate the bulk density applying the composition rate for recyclable residential waste, the composition rates by volume and weight basis, the bulk densities of the separated and commingled wastes were investigated four times respectively for recyclable waste of 1,800 kg transported to waste recovery facility. The bulk densities for separated wastes were $379.0kg/m^3$ of glass bottles that is highest and metals, residues, others, cans, plastics in order. The composition rates for each separated waste were changed widely depending on either volume basis or weight basis. The composition rate by weight basis as 40.6% of the glass bottles, 32.6% of the plastics were changed to 60.2% of the plastics and 8.9% of the glass bottles in that by volume basis. The bulk density of the commingled wastes applying the composition rate by volume basis showed the similar value to the measured density than by weight basis. So it was estimated that the composition rate by volume basis was appropriate for determining the bulk density of the commingled recyclable wastes.

Despite of environmental problems(safety hazards), mechanical recycling of FRP boats, which involves shredding and grinding of the scrap FRP in a new product. is one of the simpler and more technically proven methods than incineration or reclamation ones. Because FRP is made up of reinforced fiber glass, it is very difficult to break into pieces. It also occurs secondary problem such as air pollution and unacceptable shredding noise level. The another urgent problem which is a serious barrier to FRP recycling is very limited reusable applications. This study is to propose a new method which is efficient and environment friendly waste FRP regenerating system. And it also have shown the polymer cement and fiber-reinforced concrete applications with the waste FRP.
Population increase and economic developments can lead to construction as well as demolition of infrastructures such as buildings, bridges, roads, etc resulting in used concrete as a primary waste product. Recycling of waste concrete to obtain the recycled concrete aggregates (RCA) for base and/or sub-base materials in road construction is a foremost application to be promoted to gain economical and sustainability benefits. As the mortar, bricks, glass and reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) present as constituents in RCA, it exhibits inconsistent properties and performance. In this study, six different types of RCA samples were subjected classification tests such as particle size distribution, plasticity, compaction test, unconfined compressive strength (UCS) and California bearing ratio (CBR) tests. Results were compared with those of the standard road materials used in Queensland, Australia. It was found that material type 'RM1-100/RM3-0' and 'RM1-80/RM3-20' samples are in the margin of the minimum required specifications of base materials used for high volume unbound granular roads while others are lower than that the minimum requirement.
This study was performed to evaluate the air lift reactors (ALR) by variations of HRT and recycling rate. Air lift reactor was composed of bioreactor and clarifier above it. To remove organic matters and nitrogen through the formation of microbic film and filtration, bio-filter reactors were filled with clay, glass, bead, waste plastic, respectively. Influent wastewater was fed to biofilter reactor, and effluent wastewater from bio-filter reactor was injected ALR again, instead of adding external carbon source. Effluent BOD concentration was satisfied with lower than 10 mg/L in recycling rate 100% regardless of the variation of HRT and the kinds of media materials. In HRT 4 hr, recycling rate 100%, BOD removal efficiency rate was from about 85 to 90%, COD removal efficiency rate was higher than 90%. Effluent TN concentration was satisfied with less than 20 mg/L, if HRT was maintained by over than 6 hr regardless of recycling rate and media materials. Over than HRT was 4 hr, microbes concentration in air lift reactor was maintained over than 2,500 mg/L constantly, not sensitive to environmental condition, and organic removal was effective as it was higher.
Dry reduction using natural gas was proposed to recover tin from waste tin oxide generated in a tin bath that was used for controlling the smoothness of architectural glass during production, and the reduction behavior was investigated. The utilized vertical natural gas dry reduction system is capable to process 4 L or 20 kg depending on input raw materials. The system was established by applying the upper intake and lower discharge method. The recovery rate was 97.2% at 800 ℃ and 4 sccm flow rate and increased with the amount of input gas. Hydrogen accounted for 23% of the discharge gas, showing a 16.6% hydrogen conversion rate. The reaction behavior of tin recovered via natural gas reduction provides basic data on the new waste resource reduction/recovery technology.
Researches on resources recycling in the field of construction have made an extensive progress such as recycled aggregate of waste concrete and recycling of asphalt. On the other hand, there are almost never researches on pavement method with used waste frying oil. In South Korea, 0.2 million ton used waste frying oil is discharged every year. It is guessed that about 0.1 million ton used waste frying oil can be collected. If used waste frying oil is recycled, it is expected that disuse cost will be reduced and water pollution of rivers will be prevented. Therefore, the purpose of the study was to evaluate on mechanical features (strength, water resistance, chemical resistance, abrasion resistance, freezing and thawing resistance and permeable coefficient) whether dense graded permeable concrete mixing silica sand with flexible alkyd resin manufactured by making ester reaction with collected used waste frying oil to make alkyd resin could be applied to road pavement for non-roadway. The results of the study were as follows. In flexural strength, it had 1.6 times as much as road design standard 4.5MPa. In water resistance, chemistry resistance and freezing and thawing resistance, they had lack of strength in early age. As age went by, they didn't have large changes. And curing temperature had phenomenon of increase in strength at rather low temperature than high temperature by glass transition temperature of resin. Therefore, considering workability, strength and durability when it was applied to road pavement, it was reasonable that the mixing ratio of flexible alkyd resin was 10~15% in comparison with silica sand weight.

In this work, pozzolanic activities of various waste materials were compared with those of well-known pozzolanic materials. Uncondensed and densified silica fume, two ASTM class F fly ashes with different calcium contents, and bentonite powder, ceramic powder obtained from wash basin, and waste glass wool, which can possibly possess pozzolanic property were chosen for comparison. Drop in electrical conductivity at 40℃ saturated lime solution was measured for each materials. The amount of Ca(OH)2 decomposed from cement paste at 450~500℃ was also measured used to evaluate pozzolanic activity. The 28 day compressive strength were used to observe the mechanical property enhanced by various waste materials.
The metallic copper was recovered from sludge of the copper electro-plating plant by pyrometallurgical process. The reducing agent was Pyrolysized from waste tires and the flux was a mixture $Na_2CO_3$, $NaB_4O_7$, and glass. The green sludge contained 87.5% moisture and 12.5% solid with 56.5% Cu and 1.59% Fe. The sludge dried at $100^{\circ}C$ was analyized to be $Cu_4SO_4(OH)_6{\cdot}2H_2O$ and CuO by XRD analysis. The former was 84% and the latter 16%, However, the calcined sludge at $500^{\circ}C$ was 49% $Cu_2O(SO_4)$ and 51% CuO. The sludge could by smelted at $1100^{\circ}C$ for two hours with 6 to 8 moles carbon with respect to copper to produce metallic copper (>90%) with recovery of 9% above.
