In the present study, nine species of the family Braconidae are recorded for the first time from Korea: Aneurobracon philippinensis (Musebeck), Cenocoelius japonicus (Watanabe), Rattana sinica He & Chen, Adelius clandestinus (Förster), Blacometeorus brevicauda (Hellen), Centistes minutus Chen & Achterberg, Centistes sylvicola Belokobylskij, Gnamptodon sichotaealinicus Belokobylskij, Cotesia urabae Austin & Allen. Diagnosis, distribution and host information for the each species are provided.

  • Previously only one species, Embolemus ruddii Westwood, 1833, of the family Embolemidae has been recorded in South Korea. As part of a recent study of this family, we newly report four species from South Korea: Embolemus hachijoensis Hirashima et Yamagishi, 1975; E. krombeini Olmi, 1996; E. sensitivus Xu, Olmi et Guglielmino, 2012; Ampulicomorpha thauma Rasnitsyn et Matveev, 1989. The genus, Ampulicomorpha Ashmead, 1893, is recorded for the first time in South Korea. Embolemus ruddii was previously recorded from South Korea because considered synonym of E. walkeri. However, in recent years the two species were separated and E. ruddii was considered absent in the far east, where on the contrary E. walkeri is present. Therefore, five species in two genera are now recognized as the South Korean embolemid fauna. A key to the South Korean Embolemidae species is provided.

  • This list contains all the species of mushrooms recorded in Korea and the Korean name for the species. Since the Korean Society of Mycology reported the mushroom name list of 588 species from 190 genera in 1978 for a unification of Korean name for mushrooms many papers and illustrated books have added the name of recorded mushrooms to the list. However, we have been confused with the scientific name and the Korean name for the fungi due to a inappropriate arrangement and an incomplete classification system of Korean mushrooms. Therefore, I rearranged 885 species from 261 genera, which have been reporeted in Korea, based on the recently published documents such as Ainsworth et al. (1973), Singer (1986) and Imazeki and Hongo (1987 and 1988).

  • Abludomelita rotundactyla (Ren, 2012), belonging to the family Melitidae Bousfield, 1973 has been collected from Baengnyeongdo Island and Yangyang in Korea. This species was previously known from Yellow Sea, China and Sakhalin Island, Russia. Abludomelita rotundactyla is morphologically distinguished from congeners by gnathopod 2, palm excavate, defined by midventral acute process; gnathopod 2 with prominently plump dactylus; pleonites and urosomites dorsal formulae 7-9-9-5-4; and epimeron 3 with posterior serrations. The newly recorded species in Korea, A. rotundactyla is well accorded with the original description except for the number of pleonites dorsal teeth. The newly recorded species is described and fully illustrated in the present study. A key to the Abludomelita species in Korea is also provided. This additional record now brings the total recorded number of abludomelitid species to three in Korea.

  • The vascular plants of the studied area was listed 384 taxa of 90 families, 234 genera, 331 species, 1 subspecies, 45 varieties and 7 forms. The flora of each reservoir, 285 taxa of 83 families, 190 genera, 247 species, 1 subspecies, 30 varieties, 7 forms in Osongjae, 117 taxa of 39 families, 87 genera, 100 species, 17 varieties in Ogongjae, 83 taxa of 30 families, 67 genera, 73 species, 8 varieties, 2 forms in Shinyongjae and 86 taxa of 33families, 70 genera, 75 species, 1 subspecies, 10 varieties in Eodujae. Based on the list of the rare plants by the Forest Research Institute, 3 taxa were recorded in the studied areas; Magnolia kobus (Preservation priority order : No. 187), Penthorum chinense (No. 144), Prunus yedoensis (No. 110) and based on the list of Korean endemic plants, 4 taxa were recorded; Populus tomentiglandulosa, Clematis trichotoma, Prunus yedoensis, Paulownia coreana. Specific plant species by floral region were total 15 taxa; Prunus yedoensis in class V, 2 taxa (Carex idzuroei, Magnolia kobus) in class IV, 2 taxa (Monochoria korsakowi, Poncirus trifoliata ) in class III, 10 taxa (Sagittaria aginashi, Salix glandulosa, Clematis brachyura, Nymphoides peltata, etc.) in class I. The naturalized plants in this site were 13 families, 29 genera, 43 species, 1 varieties, 44 taxa and naturalization rate was 11.5% and based on the list of an ecosystem disturbance plants, 3 taxa were recorded in the studied areas : Paspalum distichum, Solanum carolinense, Ambrosia artemisiifolia var. elatior. The hydrophytes was listed 31 taxa of 15 families, 20 genera, 29 species, 2 varieties and Eleocharis mamillata var. cyclocarpa, Penthorum chinense, Soirodela polyrhiza were recorded in Osongjae, Sagittaria aginashi, Eleocharis kuroguwai, Scirpus juncoides, Scirpus triqueter, Monochoria korsakowi, Monochoria vaginalis var. plantaginea were recorded in Ogongjae. Besides, Scirpus fluviatilis, Trapa pseudoincisa were recorded in Shinyongjae and Scirpus triangulatus, Nymphoides peltata, Myriophyllum verticillatum were recorded in Eodujae. This site is located in the urban area and ecosystem-disturbing wild animal and plant has been imported here, therefore ecosystem has been disturbed more and more. The wetland here rapidly has changed into upland, so it needs conservation measures through long-term monitoring.

  • A faunal study on Amphipods belonging to the class Malacostraca was conducted 26-29 August 2021 at 12 sites in Chujado Island, Korea. This study found that 68 amphipod species in 39 genera, 19 families were living on Chujado Island. Among these 19 families, the family Caprellidae (20 species) showed the highest abundance. Ampithoidae (7 species) and Dexaminidae (6 species) were subdominant families. The species Stenothoe valida Dana, 1852 (found at 10 of 12 sites) was the most frequent and widespread species. Caprella scaura Templeton, 1836 was identified at 9 of 12 sites and had the highest frequency of appearance among 20 species of Caprellidae. Among the 68 species, Ampithoe waialua J.L. Barnard, 1970 and Melita nagatai Yamato, 1987 are newly recorded species in Korean fauna. These newly recorded species are fully illustrated and compared with related species. We provide an amphipod fauna in Chujado Island with a list, figures, and a table.

  • The family Orussidae is a unique parasitoid group belonging to the suborder Symphyta. Members of Orussidae are rare and only a species, Orussus coreanus Takeuchi have been previously recorded from Korea. In this study, we report another species, Stirocorsia tosensis (Tosawa and Sugihara, 1934), for the first time from Korea. The adult characteristics of the species with illustrations and a species key to the Korean Orussidae are provided.

  • A survey of insect fauna on Dokdo Island was conducted by Yeungnam University from 2009 to 2016. The survey locations were the two islands of Dokdo Island (i.e., East and West Islands), located in the East Sea of South Korea. As a result of the survey, we identified five orders, 20 families and 27 species including 10 species newly recorded on Dokdo Island, of which Eupelmus australiensis (Girault) is recorded for the first time in South Korea. In combination with the results of previous surveys made from 1981 to 2016, the insect fauna of Dokdo Island is now known to consist of 10 orders, 77 families and 164 species (and 29 additional undetermined species). In this paper, we list the insect fauna on Dokdo Island and present photographs of 10 species with brief taxonomic notes of a eupelmid species.
