We are developing a web-based movie recommender system that catches and reasons with user profiles and ratings to recommend movies. In the paper, we outline the current status of our implementation with particular emphasis on the mechanisms used to provide effective recommendations. Social recommender systems collect ratings of items from many individuals and use nearest-neighbor techniques to make recommendations to a user. However, these methods only depend on the ratings and ignore other useful information. Our primary concern is to provide an approach that can recommend the movies based on not only the user ratings but also the significant amount of other information that is available about the nature of each items - such as cast list or movie genre. We experimentally evaluate our approach and compare them to conventional social filtering, which suggests merits to our approach.

The spectrum usage fee has been imposed on spectrum users. The objective of the fee is spectrum management, so it is important to utilize it efficiently. Our study focused on how to efficiently utilize the spectrum usage fee. For this purpose it tried to found what the preconditions are for the efficient utilization, and analyzed current execution. The study showed that it did not comply with those preconditions, and produced policy recommendations. The authors expect that policy recommendations this study brought up will contribute to improve the policy process how to collect and use the spectrum usage fee.

This study purposes to identify the current problems of academic library automation and analyze causes for the problems. The problems on library automation include : absence of systematic and long-term planning, inconsistent policy, lack of competent and qualified manpower, hardware and software constraints, effects of library network financial limitations to system developers, lack of co-operation among libraries, insufficient user services. In order to improve these matters, suggest several recommendations. This paper gives basis to approach the library automation systematically.

An evaluation of the environments in the wandering pathway of the dementia units was carried out. It is revealed that the quality of the environment for the wandering pathway of the sample units was very low. In particular, lacks of social environments in Unit-B and Unit-C, and lacks of orientation aids in all the sample units were shown. Therefore, re-design for the wandering pathway of the sample units is needed. Recommendations for improving the wandering pathway and having appropriate wandering pathway without any abrupt change in existing layout of the sample units were suggested, and the limits of this research is diagnosed. It is also shown that since evaluation categories used in this paper had very closed relationship each other, those evaluation categories can be used in other settings.

The objective of this study is to provide recommendations for the interir design of motor showroom as a sales policy. ten cases of motor showrooms were selected from already observed 50 showrooms in Seoul area. findings revealed that the car industries of Korea should meet the strong needs of differentiated sales policy, and the showroom design was an important factor which influenced client's pruchasing power. From these findings and analyses, this study suggests that each brand has to represent the typical total image to appeal to the consumer strongly . Additionally each showroom should be flexible in modification to meet the diverse conditions such as the location, required function and the trend of consumers. In conclusion , researchers provided 6 types of recommendations in terms of floor plan and interior elements such as circulation path, moduled furniture and objects color and lighting variation . Hopely, this research provides more functional and comfortable environment of automobile showrooms for consumers and companies.

The government policy on the occupational safety and health is the fundamental factor for the effectiveness and efficiency of the accident prevention efforts. However this point of view is comparatively neglected and most of policy in occupational safety and health has not been successful enough in Korea. Thus, this study aims to reduce the accidents at work in Korea through the improvement of the decision-making process on the occupational safety and health policy in Korea. The recommendations are derived from the comparison between the policy decision-making organization and process of Korea and those of other major countries. Capitulated recommendations are: more involvement of professional individuals in the process of policy decision-making; intensive utilization of research institutes; and more openness of the process of policy decision-making to the stakeholders ie, the representatives of employees and employers.

Beijing, as a cradle of modern industry and the third largest metropolitan area in China, faces more responsibilities to adjust industrial structure and mitigate carbon emissions. The purpose of this study is aimed at predicting and comparing industrial carbon emissions of Beijing in ten scenarios under different policy focus, and then providing emission-cutting recommendations. In views of various scenarios issues, system dynamics has been applied to predict and simulate. To begin with, the model has been established following the step of causal loop diagram and stock flow diagram. This paper decomposes scenarios factors into energy structure, high energy consumption enterprises and growth rate of industrial output. The prediction and scenario simulation results shows that energy structure, carbon intensity and heavy energy consumption enterprises are key factors, and multiple factors has more significant impact on industrial carbon emissions. Hence, some recommendations about low-carbon mode of Beijing industrial carbon emission have been proposed according to simulation results.

Thanks to the development of social media, general users become information and knowledge providers. But customers also feel difficulty to decide their purchases due to numerous information. Although recommender systems are trying to solve these information/knowledge overload problem, it may be asked whether they can honestly reflect customers' preferences. Especially, customers in book market consider contents of a book, recency, and price when they make a purchase. Therefore, in this study, we propose a methodology which can reflect these characteristics based on topic modeling and provide proper recommendations to customers in book market. Through experiments, our methodology shows higher performance than traditional collaborative filtering systems. Therefore, we expect that our book recommender system contributes the development of recommender systems studies and positively affect the customer satisfaction and management.

In line with the goal of achieving a low carbon future, the Philippines made an aspirational target which aims to increase the total installed capacity coming from renewable energy (RE) to at least 20,000 MW by 2040. The country's RE sector has progressively advanced over the years following the enactment of its comprehensive RE Law in 2008. Among other RE technologies, solar achieved the highest installation growth from 2008 to 2018. The paper seeks to assess whether the Philippines' RE target by 2040 is achievable in terms of the current status and future outlook for RE. Major roadblocks that hamper RE development are identified and discussed, including some recommendations for policy-making and energy planning.

Herein, we propose a novel method to create multidirectional and multilevel pointing input using only a hardware keyboard. The relative position vectors among pressed keys are calculated into an input vector. The pointing performance of this method is evaluated based on the ISO 9241-9 recommendations. We find that the performance of the method is sufficient to create moderate pointing input, as the measurement of the throughput is close to that of a touchpad, as measured in past studies also using the ISO 9241-9 recommendations.
