  • This report is on the Reinforcing System(MFRI) for Concrete Structure using FRP ROD & High-Performance Mortar. The main characteristic of this system is as follow. First, the fiber rods in this system have seven times greater tensile strength than general reinforcing steel bars(re-bar) and the weight is a fifth lighter. Camels coated on the fiber rods' surfaces to improve adhesive strength and pull-out strength. Second, high strength shotcrete mortar is has very good workability and low rebound rate. After installing the Fiber Rods, Shotcrete mortar Is applied or sprayed to finish reinforcement. Finally, MFRI system has excellent fire-resisting performance and sogood tolerance against external environment by inserting fiber rods and reinforcing materials into mortar which has high compressive strength. It is applied to bridge slab, utility box and tunnel of civil engineering works, and beam and slab of building structures.

  • In this study, investigations were conducted in calculating parameters of elastic-plastic fracture mechanics using single specimen. The validity of these testing methods was judged by the confirmation of multiple specimen method of stop block test. The results were as follows: In order to measure a fracture toughness using the instrumented impact test, two general requirement must be considered; One, setting up proper impact velocity considered the effect of loading and the other, the necessity of low blow test for obtaining true energy by the compliance correction. It was possible to detect a crack initiation point by calculating the compliance changing rate from a load-defection curve. Criterion of a stable crack growth, $T_{mat}$ could be estimated by using key-curve method for a base metal. and combining Kaiser's rebound compliance with Paris-Hutchison's $T_{appl}$ equation for the brittled zone of welding heat affected.at affected.d.

  • This paper estimates the expectation-augmented Phillips curve, which explains inflation dynamics, in Korea. The phenomenon of low inflation in Korea has been going on for quite some time, in particular since 2012. During the Covid-19 crisis, due to low inflation expectations the operation of monetary policy was limited as the base rate approached the zero lower bound. The main objective of this paper is to estimate where and how tightly inflation expectations are anchored. It was found that long-term inflation expectations fell to around 1%, falling short of the inflation target, and that inflation expectations are strongly anchored to long-term expectations, which implies that the low inflation phenomenon is likely to extend into the future. The results also imply that even if inflation fluctuates due to temporary disturbances, it may converge to a level below the inflation target. The slight rebound of long-term expectations during the Covid-19 crisis suggests that the aggressive monetary policy may have contributed to improving economic agents' beliefs about the commitment of monetary authorities to inflation stability. This may also help long-term expectations gradually to approach the inflation target.

  • This study presents experimental results on the heat transfer coefficients in the film boiling region of spray cooling for actual metallurgical process. In this study, the heat flux distributions of a two dimensional dilute spray impinging on a hot plate were experimentally investigated. A stainless steel block was cooled down from intial temperature of about $800^{\circ}C$ by twin fluid (air-water) flat spray. It was found from the experimental results that the heat transfer area was classified into the stagnation region and wall-flow region. In the stagnation region, the experimental data of local heat transfer coefficient was closely correlated with the local droplet-flow-rate supplied from the spray nozzle directly. Thus, the local heat transfer coefficients are in good agreement with the predicted values from the correlations proposed by our previous study. In wall-flow region, however, remarkable differences are observed between experimental data and predicted values because the number of rebound droplets increase with increasing the distance from the stagnation point.

  • The present study developed shotcrete for fiber-net integrated tunnel support system, which consists of fiber-net support materials including netlike fiber and shotcrete and integration technology between support materials. In addition, in order to evaluate the field applicability of the developed tunnel support system and compare with the performance of steel fiber reinforced shotcrete, mock -up test was conducted on the mock -up structure. The test results show that in the case of shotcrete containing coarse aggregate(S20A5RP10-C), the excessive rebound rate occurred as the secondary shotcrete was dropped during construction due to the degradation in bond performance with fiber-net. Also, in the case of steel fiber reinforced shotcrete, the amount of cast shotcrete fell short of target value due to the fiber ball and the degradation of pumpability. On the other hand, the amount of cast mortar shotcrete(S20A5RP10-M) and the installation position of fiber-net were almost close to the target values, and the lower rebound rate occurred compared to the steel fiber reinforced shotcrete.

  • The purpose of the present study is to evaluate dimensional consistency, bristle finishes and bristle rebound rate of four brands of $Dentichek^{(R)}$ toothbrushes(regular-male, regular-female, soft-male, soft-female) to provide referneces in product enhancement and quality control for the manufacturer and to provide suggestions in selecting appropriate toothbrushes for general public. The results are as follows : 1. The size of the head is : $25.10{\times}8.10mm$ for male toothbrushes and $19.90{\times}8.10mm$ for male toothbrushes, while the size of the bristle portion is: $29.90{\times}10.65mm$ for male toothbrushes and $25.25{\times}10.65mm$ for female toothbrushes. 2. The length of the bristles is 10.70mm in all four groups. 3. The length of the toothbrush is 192mm in all four groups. 4. The number of tuft is 43 for male toothbrushes and 35 for female toothbrushes. Tuft arrangement is 4-row configuration in all four groups. 5. The number of bristles in a tuft ranges from 40-56, with higher numbers in male toothbrushes compared to the female counterparts, and higher numbers in the "soft" variety compared to the regular ones. 6. The diameter of the bristle is : 0.21mm for the outer row and 0.19mm for the inner row in the regular brand, and 0.17mm for the soft brand. 7. Irregularly finished bristle ends comprised 20-22% of the total bristles. 8. The bristle rebound rate ranges from 55.9% to 62.3%, with higher numbers in the "soft" variety compared to the regular ones. The above results show that $Dentichek^{(R)}$ toothbrushes meet the requirements of Korean Dental Association standards for toothbrushes, but further evaluations of their effects on periodontium and plaque elimination in actual in-use situation may be needed.

  • Semi-active suspension systems are greatly expected to be in the mainstream of future controlled suspensions for passenger cars. In this study, a continuous variable damper for a passenger car suspension is developed, which is controlled actively and exhibits high performance with light weight, low cost, and low energy consumption. To get fast response of the damper, reverse damping mechanism is adapted, and to get small pressure change rate after blow-off, a pilot controlled proportional valve is designed and analyzed. The reverse continuous variable damper is designed as a HS-SH damper that offers good body control with reduced transferred input force from tire, compared with any other type of suspension system. The damper structure is designed, so that rebound and compression damping force can be tuned independently, of which variable valve is placed externally. The rate of pressure change with respect to the flow rate after blow-off becomes smooth when the fixed orifice size increases, which means that the blow-off slope is controllable using the fixed orifice size. The damping force variance is wide and continuous, and is controlled by the spool opening, of which scheme is usually adapted in proportional valves. The reverse continuous variable damper developed in this study is expected to be utilized in the semi-active suspension systems in passenger cars after its performance and simplicity of the design is confirmed through real car test.

Damping forces are measured with the change of the solenoid current at the different piston velocities to confirm the maximum hysteresis of 20N, linearity, and variance of damping farce. The damping farce variance is wide and continuous, and is controlled by the spoof opening, of which scheme is usually adapted in proportional valves. The reverse continuous variable damper developed in this study is expected to be utilized in the semi-active suspension systems in passenger cars after its performance and simplicity of the design is confirmed through real car test.
