A Dynamic Channel Allocation Algorithm Based on Time Constraints in Cellular Mobile Networks

  • The new realtime applications like multimedia and realtime services in a wireless network will be dramatically increased. However, many realtime services of mobile hosts in a cell cannot be continued because of insufficiency of useful channels. Conventional channel assignment approaches didn't properly consider the problem to serve realtime applications in a cell. This paper proposes a new realtime channel assignment algorithm based on time constraint analysis of channel requests. The proposed algorithm dynamically borrows available channels from neighboring cells. It also supports a smooth handoff which continuously serves realtime applications of the mobile hosts.

  • In this paper, we propose a method by which QP (Quadratic Programming) problems can be solved in realtime so that we can implement the predictive control algorithm on a microcontroller system. Firstly, we derive a solution to QP problems by converting the original QP problems to its equivalent least squares with inequalities. Secondly, we propose a predictive control algorithm that can give good realtime computation performance by utilizing the fact that some parameters needed for solving QP problems can be computed offline. Finally, we illustrate that the proposed method can give good realtime features by running the C-code application constructed using the proposed method on a microncontroller system.

  • The challenge is to control unstable nonlinear dynamic systems using only sparse feedback from the environment concerning its performance. The design of such controllers can be achieved by evolving neural networks. An evolutionary approach to train neural networks in realtime is proposed. Evolutionary strategies adapt the weights of neural networks and the threshold values of neuron's synapses. The proposed method has been successfully implemented for pole balancing problem.

  • In this paper, a robot controller that has a real time-multitasking OS (Operating System) is developed. It can do given jobs in realtime, so its effectiveness is increased. The controller has several CPU boards, and it is needed to communicate among these boards. For that reason, it is adopted VME bus system and VMEexec OS that can process multiprocess in realtime. Multiprocess includes robot language edit process, vision process, low level motion control process, and teach process in higher layer. And dynamics, kinematics, and inverse kinematics that require realtime calculation are included in lower layer.

  • Personal Robot System in developing, have a module architecture, each module are connected through heterogeneors network systems like Ethernet, WLAN (802.11), IEEE1394 (Firewire), Bluetooth, USB, CAN, or RS-232C. In developing personal robot system we think that the key of robot performance is interoperability among modules. Each network protocol are well connected in the view of network system for the interoperability. So we make a bridging architecture that can routing, converting, transporting data packets with matcing each network's properties. Furthermore we suggest a advanced design scheme for realtime / non-realtime and control signal (short, requiring hard-realtime) / multimedia data (large, requiring soft-realtime). By some application systems, we could test performance, interoperability and stability. In this paper, we show our design concept, middleware architecture, and some applications systems using this middleware.

  • Distributed control architecture is based on sharing control and data between multiple nodes on a network Communication and task sharing can be distributed between multiple control computers. Although many communication protocols exist, such as TCP/IP and UDP, they do not have the determinism that realtime control demands. Fiber-optic reflective shared memory creates the opportunity for realtime distributed control. This architecture allows control and computational tasks to be divided between multiple systems and operate in a deterministic realtime environment. One such shared memory architecture is based on Curtiss-Wright ScramNET family of fiber-optic reflective memory. MTS has built seismic and structural control software and hardware capable of utilizing ScramNET shared memory, opening up infinite possibilities in research and new capabilities in Hybrid and Model-In-The-Loop control.

  • In this paper, we present mSROS(Micro-Scalable Realtime Operating System) to be applied commonly to the device controller systems in the HANbit ACE256 system. The device controller systems in HANbit ACE256 system are organized as many kinds of device controller. Applying modified PPOS(Peripheral Processor Operating System)which is an operating system for devices of the TDX-10 switching system to the firmwares for them, the inefficiency in development and maintenance exists inherently. To remove the inefficiency nd to improve the performqance of firmwares, we build a common operating system platform that including multi-tasking microkernel so that the firmwares among devices can acquire convenient development and cheap cost of maintencance. Especially, building a virtual machine as a development methodology, it is possible to remove dependency from the kernel so that any kinds of commercial real-time kernels can be used in mSROS as a basic kernel. The virtual machine in mSROS is compatible with the API of SROS(Scalable Realtime Operating System), PPOS, and CROS(Concurrent Realtime Operating System).

  • We identified the performance problems of scheduling algorithms such as FCFS, and demonstrated the superiority of WFQ in terms of realtime performance measures. For this purpose, we presented the service scenario and performed the analysis for the delay bound and fairness which are required to support the realtime applications in the Internet.

  • 본 논문은 CDMA/TDD 시스템에서, 높은 전송률과 일정한 QoS를 갖는 실시간 클래스의 무선 자원 할당에 대한 방법론을 제시한다. 실시간 클래스와 비실시간 클래스를 제어하기 위하여, 예약 액세스 기법과 우선 순위 기법이 각각 제안된다. 또한 각 셀 링크간 간섭에 의한 성능 감소를 예방하기 위하여 슬롯 할당 기법을 제안한다. 제시된 방안들을 통하여 실시간 클래스의 연속성을 보장하고 비실시간 가입자를 최대로 수용할 수 있다. 다중 셀 환경과 멀티미디어 서비스 모델을 가정하여, 제안된 기법의 성능이 전송 지연, 채널 이용률 그리고 데이터 손실 등을 근거로 하여 평가된다. 시뮬레이션 결과는 상당한 성능 향상이 있음을 보인다.
