As the interest about ubiquitous environment is increasing, there are many researches about the services in this environment. These services have important issues in interpreting the users' context, using many kinds of sensors, like PDA, GPS and accelerometers. Low level raw data, which sensors like accelerometers calibrates, are hard to use, and to provide real-time services preprocessing and interpreting the data into context, in real-time, is important. This paper describes a context integrate system which can integrate these sensors and also sensors which has raw data, like accelerometers and physiological sensors, and define the context interpret rule with XML. The proposing system reduces programming operations when adding a sensor to the sensor network or modifying the context interpreting rule by using XML. By using this system, we implemented a real-time data monitoring system which can describe the numeric data into graphs, and assist the user to validate the data and results of the preprocess phase, and also support the external services and applications to use the context of the user.
This paper deals with the real-time message network system by a CAN (controller area network) based on the real-time distributed control scheme to integrate actuators and sensors in a humanoid robot. In order to apply the real-time distributed processing for a humanoid robot, each control unit should have the real-time efficient control method, fast sensing method, fast calculation and real-time valid data exchange method. Moreover, the data from sensors and encoders must be transmitted to the higher level of control units in maximum time limit. This paper describes the real-time message network system design and the performance of the system.
Traditionally, the problems of manufacturing technology and manufacturing management have been treated independently. In this research, we endeavor to integrate the process planning and scheduling activities as an attempt to integrate the two realms. To draw up a plan of process planning and scheduling in real manufacturing environment is not an easy task because available time to plan could be limited and the shop status could change frequently. So we propose an architecture of integrated process planing and scheduling problem within the allowed time even if sheep situations change rather frequently. We argue that we can obtain a better and practical scheduling solution by dynamically changing the processing machines and operations as the shop condition changes. The proposed system takes the initial information for alternative machines and operations represented by an AND/OR graph as its input. Other informational inputs to the system are part order and shop statues. The system then generates new process plan and schedules during permitted time. Experimental results show that the proposed scheme provides a viable solution for real world scheduling problems.
As the application of real time expert systems has been expanded, the real time expert systems have become an integral part of the information society. Real time expert systems are viewed as a new paradigm to integrate real time problem solving and expert system technology. However, a substantial amount of work is still required to effectively handle a new and challenging opportunity for successful implementation of real time expert systems. In this article, the basic concepts and characteristics of real time expert systems are discussed. The article also presents, through the literature survey, the summary of real time expert systems applications and a class of tools, providing an enabling real time based expert system technology. Finally, the article discusses a set of requirements which real time expert systems must satisfy.

Integration of engineering information through the IT (Information Technology) is very important key during the collaboration design process. How can we realize the data efficiently in real-time at the early design stage? How can we manage to integrate the separate information made by each designer or department effectively in real time? IT global trend is the unique way of handling these complicated problems from the information inundation. This paper suggests the design process management system deduced from the analytical results considering BPM (Business Process Management) solution workflow. Workflow based design process management system can help user share and integrate the needed information at the right time through Internet. It is found that the proposed tool works well for a beam design case, and this framework can be thus further expanded for an engineering design environment smoothly.

Weapon systems composed of several subsystems execute various engagement missions in distributed combat environments in cooperation with a large number of subordinate/adjacent weapon systems as well as higher echelons through tactical data links. Such distributed weapon systems require distributed real-time simulation test beds to integrate and test their operational software, analyze their performance and effects of cooperated engagement, and validate their requirement specifications. These demands present significant challenges in terms of real-time constraints, time synchronization, complexity and development cost of an engagement simulation test bed, thus necessitate the use of high-performance distributed real-time simulation architectures, and modeling and simulation techniques. In this paper, in order to meet these demands, we presented a distributed real-time simulation system based on High Level Architecture(HLA) and Discrete Event System Specification(DEVS). We validated its performance by using it as a test bed for developing the Engagement Control System(ECS) of a surface-to-air missile system. The proposed technique can be employed to design a prototype or model of engagement-level distributed real-time simulation systems.

In this paper, we propose a integrated real-time monitoring system for recycling agriculture resourcing based on USN. We design and implement the monitoring system so that we can integrate the quality control of farmyard and liquid manures, barn environment monitoring, and positioning information control into a total management system performing recycling of excrement and manure. Selection of sensors and sensor-node construction and requirements, structure of wire/wireless communication networks, and design of monitoring program are also presented. As a result of operating our system, we can get over various drawbacks of conventional separated system and promote the proper circulation of excrement up to the farmyard. We confirm that these advanced effects arise from the effective management of the total system integrating quality control of farmyard/liquid manure, barn/farmhouse information, and vehicle moving monitoring information etc. Moreover, this monitoring system is able to exchange real-time information throughout communication networks so that we can construct a convenient information environment for agricultural community by converging IT technology with farm and stockbreeding industries. Finally we present some results of processing using our monitoring system. Sensing data and their graphs are processed in real-time, positioning information on the v-world map offers various moving paths of vehicles, and statistical analysis shows all the procedure from excrement occurrence to recycling and resourcing.

This paper proposes a system architecture for USN with a service robot to provide more active assisted living services for elderly persons by monitoring their mental and physical well-being with USN environments at home, hospital, or silver town. Sensors embedded in USN are used to detect preventive measures for chronic disease. Logged data are transferred to main controller of a service robot via wireless channel in which the analysis of data is performed. For the purpose of handling emergency situations, it needs real-time processing on gathering variety sensor data, routing algorithms for sensor nodes to a moving sink node and processing of logged data. This paper realized multi-hop sensor network to detect user movements with biometric data transmission and performed algorithms on Xenomai, a real-time embedded Linux. To leverage active sensing, a mobile robot is used of which task was implemented with a priority to process urgent data came from the sink-node. This software architecture is anticipated to integrate sensing, communication and computing with real-time manner. In order to verify the usefulness of a proposed system, the performance of data transferring and processing on a real-time OS with non real-time OS is also evaluated.

Recent some SoC FPGA Releases that integrate ARM processor and FPGA fabric show better performance compared to the ASIC SoC used in typical embedded image processing system. In this study, using the above advantages, we implement a SoC FPGA-based Real-Time Object Recognition and Tracking System. In our system, the video input and output, image preprocessing process, and background subtraction processing were implemented in FPGA logics. And the object recognition and tracking processes were implemented in ARM processor-based programs. Our system provides the processing performance of 5.3 fps for the SVGA video input. This is about 79 times faster processing power than software approach based on the Nios II Soft-core processor, and about 4 times faster than approach based the HPS processor. Consequently, if the object recognition and tracking system takes a design structure combined with the FPGA logic and HPS processor-based processes of recent SoC FPGA Releases, then the real-time processing is possible because the processing speed is improved than the system that be handled only by the software approach.

In this reaserch, a program for real time simulation of a vehicle is developed. This program uses relative coordinates to save the computation time and BDF(Backward Difference Formula) to integrate system variables. Numerical tests were performed for J-turn and Lane change steering, respectively. The validity of the program is proved by the ADAMS package. Numerical results showed that the proposed implicit method is more stable in carrying out the numerical integration for vehicle dynamics than the explicit method. Hardware requirements for real time simulation are suggested.
