To find the optimum mixing ratio of WGS catalyst with $CO_2$ absorbent for SEWGS process, water gas shift reaction tests were carried out in a fluidized bed reactor using commercial WGS catalyst and sand (as a substitute for $CO_2$ absorbent). WGS catalyst content, gas velocity, and steam/CO ratio were considered as experimental variables. CO conversion increased as the catalyst content increased during water gas shift reaction. Variations of the CO conversion with the catalyst content were small at low gas velocity. However, those variations increased at higher gas velocity. Within experimental range of this study, the optimum operating condition(steam/CO ratio=3, gas velocity = 0.03 m/s, catalyst content=10 wt.%) to get high CO conversion and $CO_2$ capture efficiency was confirmed. Moreover, long time water gas shift reaction tests up to 20 hours were carried out for two cases (catalyst content = 10 and 20 wt.%) and we could conclude that the WGS reactivity at those conditions was maintained up to 20 hours.
With a view to utilizing fish skin gelatin as a clearifier or chewing gum base, yellowfin sole skin gelatin was succinylated. Up to 10% succinic anhydride to gelatin, the succinylation degree of gelatin was increased linear and above this concentration a nearly constant value was reached. The succinylated gelatin treated with 15% succinic anhydride to gelatin was examined on the reactivity properties with tannic acid in the experiment. Succinylation degree of the gelatin was about 80%. Succinylation shifted the apparent isoelectric point from pH 5.54 in untreated gelatin to pH 4.08 in succinylated gelatin. The proximate composition and amino acid composition of succinylated gelatin were similar to those of untreated gelatin. However Lysine composition for succinylated gelatin was lower than for untreated gelatin. The ratio of precipitated gelatin and tannic acid became maximum at pH 4.8 in untreated gelatin, at pH 4.0 in succinylated gelatin. Regardless of the difference between untreated and succinylated gelatins, the ratio of precipitated gelatin decreased with concentration of gelatin. The ratio of precipitated tannic acid was the highest by adding $2{\sim}4$ times in succinylated gelatin to tannic acid weight, by adding $2{\sim}3$ times in untreated gelatin. The ratios of precipitated succinylated gelatin and tannic acid were scarcely affected by the presence of sucrose, however, were affected by the presence of ethyl alcohol.

The polysaccharide fractions were isolated and purified from Phellodendron chinese SCHNEID, and antitumor activities using the melanoma B-16-derived metastatic tumors were examined at dosages of 2, 5 and 10 mg/100 g. F-7 and F-8 showed the highest tumor metastatic inhibitory activities (inhibition ratio 60 and 80% in 2 mg/100 g), and in dose of 5 mg/100 g, the inhibitory ratios were 85 and 70%, respectively. Furthermore, 10 mg/100 g of intraperitoneal (i.p.) injection gave 90 and 95% of inhibition. When the effects of polysaccharides on hypersensitivity were examined, the inhibitory activities were not markedly observed in oral administration, indicating that the polysaccharides are directly acting to immune system. Also, the polysaccharides increased the number of circulating blood leukocytes and total peritoneal exudate cells. Although implantation of tumor cells greatly decreased the productivity of antibody (antibody-mediated) and T lymphocyte reactivity (delayed-type) as 6.3 from 9.3 and 5.9 from 7.7, represented by the increase of footpad thickness, respectively. the polysaccharides elevated the reactivity of T lymphocyte in tumor-bearing mice, which were rapidly recovered by discontinuance of sample treatments. Especially, F-2, F-5, F-7 and F-8 remarkably recovered the decreased sensitivity. These results clearly indicated that the i.p. injection is much effective to suppress tumor growth than oral administration.
The copolymerizations of 2-fluorohexylethyl acrylate (FA) with 2-(o-(1'-methylpropylidenamino)carboxyl amino)ethyl methacrylate(MEM) with different molar ratios of the two monomers were carried out in methyl ethyl ketone using ${\alpha}$,${\alpha}$'-azobisisobutyronitrile as an initiator to synthesize water repellent polyacrylate derivatives with protected isocyanate groups. The contents of FA and MEM in the copolymers were analyzed by NMR. The monomer reactivity ratios of MEM (1) and FA (2) were determined by Kelen-Tudos plot as follows : r$\_$1/=1.59 and r$\_$2/=0.50. The number-average molecular weights of the copolymers were in the range of 39400 to 72400 and the polydispersity indexes were about 1.5. The protected isocyanate groups in the copolymers were converted into isocyanate groups above 150$^{\circ}C$. The contact angle of the copolymer with 65 ㏖% of FA fur water was about 95$^{\circ}$.

MMA(methyl methacrylate)/IPMI(N-isopropyl maleimide) copolymers are one of the well known heat resistant materials for POF(plastic optical fiber). However, because of the large difference in the reactivity ratio between MMA and IPMI$(r_1/r_2=1.72:0.17)$, the compositional drift occurs during the polymerization process which causes the deterioration of the physical properties of these copolymers. In this paper, we report that the compositional drift of the copolymer could be reduced by the addition of styrene (St) which increased the reactivity of IPMI in the MMA/IPMI copolymerization system and conversion was also increased by 1.5 or 2 times. The MMA/IPMI/St terpolymer had higher refractive index than the MMA/IPMI copolymer which depended on the contents of sytrene.
Second-order rate constants ($k_N$) have been measured spectrophotometrically for reactions of 3,4-dinitrophenyl benzoates (5b) with a series of alicyclic secondary amines in 80 mol % $H_2O$/20 mol % DMSO at 25.0 ${\pm}$ 0.1 ${^{\circ}C}$. The kinetic data have been compared with the data reported previously for the corresponding reactions of 2,4- dinitrophenyl benzoates (5a) to investigate the effect of changing the nucleofuge from 2,4-dinitrophenoxide to 3,4-dinitrophenoxide on reactivity and mechanism. The kinetic results show that aminolyses of 5a and 5b proceed through the same mechanism, i.e., a zwitterionic tetrahedral intermediate ($T^{\pm}$) with a change in the rate-determining step (RDS). Substrate 5a is more reactive than 5b when breakdown of $T^{\pm}$ is the RDS but less reactive when formation of $T^{\pm}$ is the RDS. Dissection of kN values into the microscopic rate constants (e.g., $k_1$ and $k_2/k_{-1 }$ ratio) has revealed that 5a results in larger $k_2/k_{-1}$ ratios but smaller k1 values than 5b for all the amines studied. Since 2,4-dinitrophenoxide is less basic and a better nucleofuge than 3,4-dinitrophenoxide, the larger $k_2/k_{-1}$ ratios determined for the reactions of 5a than for those of 5b are as expected. The steric hindrance exerted by the ortho-nitro group on 5a contributes to the smaller k1 values found for the reactions of 5a than for those of 5b.

Gasification plant using petroleum coke for refinery and power generation process is increased from considering petroleum coke as a valuable fuel. In this study, gasification of petroleum coke was performed to utilize petroleum coke and to develop essential technology using 1T/D coal gasification system. In case of petroleum coke gasification, because of lower reactivity, consumption of oxygen is higher than coal gasification. The calorific value of syngas from petroleum coke mixed with coal at a mass ratio of 1:1 shows about $6.7{\sim}7.2MJ/Nm^3$. Although carbon conversion could reach more than 92% according to oxygen amount, cold gas efficiency shows lower value than the case of coal. Therefore, it was shown that complemental study in burner design to atomize slurry droplet is required to elevate gasification performance of petroleum coke which has lower reactivity than coal.
2-Biphenylyl acrylate(BPA) was synthesized by the reaction of acryloyl chloride with 2-phenylphenol (2PP). Hydrophilic copolymers with the moiety of the microbicide, 2PP, were prepared by the radical copolymerization of BPA and methacrylic acid (MA). From the compositions of the BPA unit and the MA unit in the copolymers, the monomer reactivity ratios were determined to be 0.86 for BPA and 1.21 for MA by means of Kelen-Tudos plot. This result indicates that the copolymers have a random structure. The amount of 2PP released through the hydrolysis of the copolymers was examined by UV spectrometry. The result showed that the release of 2PP increased with an increase in the hydrophilic MA content in the copolymers and with an increase in the pH of the release medium. Therefore, these results indicate that the hydrophilic polymers bearing 2-phenylphenol moiety can be controlled release microbicides.

In SiH4/H2 discharge for growth process of hydrogenated amorphous silicon (a-Si:H), silane polymers, produced by SiH2 + Sin-1H2n ${\rightarrow}$ SinH2n+2, have no reactivity on the film-growing surface. However, under the SiH2 rich condition, high silane reactive species (HSRS) can be produced by electron collision to silane polymers. HSRS, having relatively strong reactivity on the surface, can react with dangling bond and form Si-H2 networks which have a close correlation with photo-induced degradation of a-Si:H thin film solar cell [1]. To find contributions of suggested several external plasma conditions (pressure, frequency and ratio of mixture gas) [2,3] to suppressing productions of HSRS, some plasma characteristics are studied by numerical methods. For this study, a zero-dimensional global model for SiH4/H2 discharge and a one-dimensional particle-in-cell Monte-Carlo-collision model (PIC-MCC) for pure SiH4 discharge have been developed. Densities of important reactive species of SiH4/H2 discharge are observed by means of the global model, dealing 30 species and 136 reactions, and electron energy probability functions (EEPFs) of pure SiH4 discharge are obtained from the PIC-MCC model, containing 5 charged species and 15 reactions. Using global model, SiH2/SiH3 values were calculated when pressure and driving frequency vary from 0.1 Torr to 10 Torr, from 13.56 MHz to 60 MHz respectively and when the portion of hydrogen changes. Due to the limitation of global model, frequency effects can be explained by PIC-MCC model. Through PIC-MCC model for pure SiH4, EEPFs are obtained in the specific range responsible for forming SiH2 and SiH3: from 8.75 eV to 9.47 eV [4]. Through densities of reactive species and EEPFs, polymerization reactions and production of HSRS are discussed.
The free radical bulk copolymerizations of perfluoroalkylethyl acrylate(FA) containing perfluoro group ($CF_3(CF_2)_nCH_2CH_2$-; n=5, 7, 9, 11) with styrene were conducted at $60^{\circ}C$ using AIBN as an initiator. Reactivity ratios($r_1$, $r_2$) were determined from monomer feed compositions and the NMR spectroscopically measured copolymer compositions using Kelen-Tudos method. The structures of copolymers were characterized with FT-IR and $^1H-NMR$ analysis. Their thermal properties investigated with DSC and TGA were decreased with increasing the content of fluorinated acrylate in the copolymer. Their surface free energies were calculated with measuring contact angles of the copolymers and PMMA blends with a small amount of them.
