기동특성에 따른 ARS 자세 성능향상 기법 (The Improvement Method of ARS Attitude depeding on Dynamic Conditions)

  • The ARS(Attitude Reference System) calculates an attitude of a vehicle using inertial angular rate sensors and acceleration sensors. The attitude error of ARS increases due to the integration of angular rate sensor output. To reduce the attitude error an acceleration of sensor is used similar to leveling method of INS(Inertial Navigation System). When an acceleration of vehicle is increased, it is difficult to calculate the attitude error using acceleration sensor output. In this paper the estimation method of acceleration due to the attitude error only is proposed. Two methods of the attitude calculation depending on vehicle dynamics and the integration method of these two methods are proposed. To verify its performance the monte carlo simulation is performed and shows that it bounds attitude error of ARS to reasonable level.

Fatigue effects on manual lifting acceleration

  • The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of fatigue, caused by frequent manual lifting, on lifting velocity and lifting acceleration. Ten male volunteers performed lifting at a rate of 4 times per minute, continuously, for two hours using the free-style posture. A box $(30cm{\times}30cm{\times}20cm)$ with a fixed weight (15.9kg) was used as the load for lifting. Heart rate, oxygen consumption, and EMG were also measured to estimate the level of fatigue. The posture as well as acceleration was recorded. The results show that the lifting acceleration at the end of two hour increased significantly (20%, p<0.001) compared to the accleration after fifteen minutes of lifting. It was also found that subjects changed their lifting postures as the result of fatigue. All subjects also indicated pain in their upper legs and the lower back at the conclusion of the experiment.

Retrieving the Time History of Displacement from Measured Acceleration Signal

  • It is intended to retrieve the time history of displacement from measured acceleration signal. In this study, the word retrieving means reconstructing the time history of original displacement signal from already measured acceleration signal not just extracting various information using relevant signal processing techniques. Unlike extracting required information from the signal, there are not many options to apply to retrieve the time history of displacement signal, once the acceleration signal is measured and recorded with given sampling rate. There are two methods, in general, to convert measured acceleration signal into displacement signal. One is directly integrating the acceleration signal in time domain. The other is dividing the Fourier transformed acceleration signal by the scale factor of - $\omega$$^2$and taking the inverse Fourier transform of it. It turned out both the methods produced a significant amount of errors depending on the sampling resolution in time and frequency domain when digitizing the acceleration signals. A simple and effective way to convert the time history of acceleration signal into the time history of displacement signal without significant errors is studied here with the analysis on the errors involved in the conversion process.

터보과급디젤기관의 급가속 운전시 압축기출구에의 공기분사가 응답성능에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Air Injection in Compressor Exit on the Response Performance of a Turbocharged Diesel Engine under the Operating Conditions of Rapid Acceleration.)

  • In this paper, an experimental study is carried out under the operating conditions of low speed and rapid acceleration in order to investigate and improve the response characteristics of a turbocharged diesel engine with radial turbine driven by exhaust gas. A rapid acceleration for investigating the response performance is applied to the fuel-pump rack of the engine from 0-10% to 0-40% in steps of 10%, and accelerating time of 1, 2 and 3 seconds is applied to the engine. Further experiment for improving the low speed torque and acceleration performance is also performed by means of injecting air into the inlet manifold at compressor exit during the period of low speed and application of a rapid acceleration. The effects of air injection on the response performance are represented at subjected engine speed with the changes of response performance factors such as air injection pressure, air injection period, accelerating rate, accelerating time and load. From the experimental results obtained throughout this study, it is shown that air injection into the inlet manifold at compressor exit is closely related to the improvement of low speed and acceleration performance of a turbocharged diesel engine.

주행패턴의 상대 가속도에 따른 중소형 자동차의 온실가스 및 대기오염물질 배출 특성 (Greenhouse Gas and Pollutant Emission from Light-Duty Vehicles Regarding the Relative Positive Acceleration)

  • Although driving patterns strongly influence greenhouse gas and air pollutant emission rate from light duty vehicles, emission measurements have been mainly based on chassis dynamometer testing with one standard driving pattern. And there has been limited work on quantifying the independent effect of driving parameters on emission rate because of multidimensional nature of real-world driving pattern. The objective of this study is to obtain the quantitative effect of relative positive acceleration (RPA) on vehicle emission rate. RPA has been used to define the occurrence of acceleration demanding large amounts of power in certain driving distance and shown to be a significant affecting parameter for real-world emission rate. 40 driving patterns have been developed with fixed driving parameters to investigate independent effect of RPA. For the same values of average vehicle speed and power, the trend in carbon dioxide emission rate and fuel consumption with respect to RPA is very clear. Emission rate of nitrogen oxide and particulate matter also increase with respect to RPA, but the trend is less clear. Carbon dioxide emission from diesel vehicle appear to be more affected by high accelerations compared to that from gasoline vehicle because of high intake air restriction during acceleration caused by turbocharger and intercooler. The results have implications for the possible reduction of environmental effects through better traffic planning and management, driver education and car design.

A complete S-shape feed rate scheduling approach for NURBS interpolator

  • This paper presents a complete S-shape feed rate scheduling approach (CSFA) with confined jerk, acceleration and command feed rate for parametric tool path. For a Non-Uniform Rational B-Spline (NURBS) tool path, the critical points of the tool path where the radius of curvature reaches extreme values are found firstly. Then, the NURBS curve is split into several NURBS sub-curves or blocks by the critical points. A bidirectional scanning strategy with the limitations of chord error, normal/tangential acceleration/jerk and command feed rate is employed to make the feed rate at the junctions between different NURBS blocks continuous. To improve the efficiency of the feed rate scheduling, the NURBS block is classified into three types: short block, medium block and long block. The feed rate profile corresponding to each NURBS block is generated according to the start/end feed rates and the arc length of the block and the limitations of tangential acceleration/jerk. In addition, two compensation strategies are proposed to make the feed rate more continuous and the arc increment more precise. Once the feed rate profile is determined, a second-order Taylor's expansion interpolation method is applied to generate the position commands. Finally, experiments with two free-form NURBS curves are conducted to verify the applicability and accuracy of the proposed method.

신호교차로에서 버스와 승용차의 발진가속도 측정 (Estimation of Acceleration Rates of Bus and Passenger car at Signalized Intersections)

  • 신호교차로에서 일시 정지 후 출발하는 차량의 최대 및 평균 발진가속도는 교차로 선진입 및 일시정지 여부가 쟁점이 되는 신호위반 교통사고 분석에서 중요한 해결의 실마리를 제공한다. 본 논문에서는 우리나라의 교통상황 특성이 반영된 차종별 발진가속도 값을 현장조사를 통하여 측정하여 제시하였다. 버스 및 승용차의 평균 발진가속도를 5m 간격 50m 까지 진행거리에 따라 추정한 결과, 버스의 평균 발진가속도는 $1.011^m/s^2{\sim}1.314^m/s^2$(0.1g~0.13g), 승용차는 $1.548^m/s^2{\sim}1.818^m/s^2$(0.16g~0.19g)로 파악되었고 관측된 모든 구간에서 차이가 있는 것으로 파악되었다. 그리고 차종별, 진행거리 위치별로 파악된 발진가속도의 차이는 통계적 분석결과 모두 유의한 수준으로 확인되었다. 본 연구에서 제시된 결과를 적용한다면 향후 신호위반 교통사고 분석 시 보다 합리적이고 정확한 추론이 가능할 것으로 예상된다.

NUMERICAL STUDIES OF COSMIC RAY ACCELERATION AT COSMIC SHOCKS

  • Shocks are ubiquitous in astrophysical environments and cosmic-rays (CRs) are known to be accelerated at collisionless shocks via diffusive shock acceleration. It is believed that the CR pressure is important in the evolution of the interstellar medium of our galaxy and most of galactic CRs with energies up to ${\~}\;10^{15}$ eV are accelerated by supernova remnant shocks. In this contribution we have studied the CR acceleration at shocks through numerical simulation of 1D, quasi-parallel shocks for a wide range of shock Mach numbers and shock speeds. We show that CR modified shocks evolve to time-asymptotic states by the time injected particles are accelerated to moderately relativistic energies, and that two shocks with the same Mach number, but with different shock speeds, evolve qualitatively similarly when the results are presented in terms of a characteristic diffusion length and diffusion time. We find that $10^{-4} - 10^{-3}$ of the particles passed through the shock are accelerated to form the CR population, and the injection rate is higher for shocks with higher Mach number. The time asymptotic value for the CR acceleration efficiency is controlled mainly by shock Mach number, and high Mach number shocks all evolve towards efficiencies ${\~}50\%$, regardless of the injection rate and upstream CR pressure. We conclude that the injection rates in strong quasi-parallel shocks are sufficient to lead to significant nonlinear modifications to the shock structures, implying the importance of the CR acceleration at astrophysical shocks.

차량 가속특성에 따른 이산화탄소(CO2) 배출량 비교 (CO2 Emission Considering Condition of Vehicle Acceleration)

  • PURPOSES : The present study aims to evaluate the added $CO_2$ emissions incurred from accelerating operation when to increase the speed up to the allowed level. METHODS : The methodology used are basically the relationship between emission rates and vehicle speeds or acceleration rate. These rates together are used to calculate the added $CO_2$ emissions incurred from accelerating operation. RESULTS : It was resulted that the all the emission rates are increasing proportionally to vehicle speeds or acceleration rates. Additionally, it was also resulted that allowable speeds increasing, the added emission rates are increasing rapidly. CONCLUSIONS : It may be concluded that if the allowable speed ranges are managed, $CO_2$ emissions during vehicle operation are much reduced. From this reason, it was found that the allowable speed during highway design and operation would be much necessary

등가속도 운동에서 미적분의 기본 아이디어 학습 과정에 관한 사례연구 (A Case Study on Learning of Fundamental Idea of Calculus in Constant Acceleration Movement)

  • 본 연구에서는 먼저, 미적분에서 수학과 물리를 연결한 학습-지도의 필요성을 논의하고, 이를 위한 교수-학습 자료를 개발하여 제시한다. 그 후, 교수-학습 자료 중 하나를 활용하여 질적 사례연구를 하여 등가속도 운동을 탐구하는 활동에서 평균속도와 순간속도 개념이 발달되는 과정을 분석하였다. 연구대상자들은 등가속도 운동을 탐구하는 물리적 실험 상황에서 평균속도, 순간속도, 가속도 개념을 배웠다. 이 과정에서 학생들은 순간속도가 시간과 이동거리의 이차함수 그래프 위의 한 점에서 접선의 기울기를 의미한다는 점과 시간과 속도의 관계그래프 아래의 넓이 변화율이 이동거리의 변화율을 의미한다는 점을 이해할 수 있었다.
