  • In this paper, to develop a smart CAD/CAM system for systematically performing from the 3-D solid shape design of products to the CNC cutting operation of products by a machining center, a B-Rep solid modeler is realized based on the half edge data structure. Because the B-Rep solid modeler has the various capabilities related to the solid definition functions such as the creation operation of primitives and the translational and rotational sweep operation, the solid manipulation functions such as the split operation and the Boolean set operation, and the solid inversion function for effectively using the data structure, the 3-D solid shape of products can be easily designed and constructed. Also, besides the automatic generation of CNC code, the B-Rep solid modeler can be used as a powerful tool for realizing the automatic generation of finite elements, the interference check between solids, the structural design of machine tools and robots and so on.

  • As the number of cafeterias at universities has increased, studies on student perception of price sensitivity at cafeterias have gained increased attention. Therefore, the study investigated the relationship between students and university cafeterias according to price sensitivity measurement (PSM). According to the analysis, the indifference price (IDP) was 3,444.06 Korean Won while the subsequent cumulative distribution percentage was approximately 17.68%. The optimal pricing point (OPP) was 3,233.73 Korean Won and the stress price (IDP-OPP) was 210.33 Korean Won. The point of marginal expensiveness (PME) was 4,602.24 Koean Won and the point of marginal cheapness (PMC) was 2,036.29 Korean Won. Therefore, the range of acceptable prices (RAP) was established as 2,565.95 Korean Won. In addition, the study examined differences between price sensitivity measurement (PSM) for the respondent subgroups. Hence, the results will provide a practical background for development of business plans for university cafeterias.

  • We studied the effect of current-aging on field emission from carbon nanotubes field emitter arrays (CNT-FEAs) selectively patterned by the resist-assistan tpatterning(RAP) process. After sustaining the electric field when starting emission current density $(J_s)$ is $0.1\;mA/cm^2$ during 40 hrs, it was observed that the field emission property and uniformity were remarkably improved due to the elimination of oxygen atom and thus the reconstruction of carbon bonding at the tip of CNTs during field emission.

  • Population increase and economic developments can lead to construction as well as demolition of infrastructures such as buildings, bridges, roads, etc resulting in used concrete as a primary waste product. Recycling of waste concrete to obtain the recycled concrete aggregates (RCA) for base and/or sub-base materials in road construction is a foremost application to be promoted to gain economical and sustainability benefits. As the mortar, bricks, glass and reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) present as constituents in RCA, it exhibits inconsistent properties and performance. In this study, six different types of RCA samples were subjected classification tests such as particle size distribution, plasticity, compaction test, unconfined compressive strength (UCS) and California bearing ratio (CBR) tests. Results were compared with those of the standard road materials used in Queensland, Australia. It was found that material type 'RM1-100/RM3-0' and 'RM1-80/RM3-20' samples are in the margin of the minimum required specifications of base materials used for high volume unbound granular roads while others are lower than that the minimum requirement.

  • The purpose of this research is to examine track suits which appear in mass media and to attempt to understand their embedded symbolism. Hence, a theoretical inquiry and case study on suit tracks were carried out. The case study was confined to the period since 2000, when sportswear emerged as a megatrend in fashion, to 2012. Occurrences of track suits in film, TV dramas, music videos, advertisements, and fashion collections were examined. Research indicated that the track suits in film or TV drama worked as items to give a change to coordination, material and decoration, so that the track suits highlighted the characters in them rather than emphasizing external factors or their own design. They were used as tools to indicate the sensual and dynamical feminine image in the rap and hip hop genres in music video. They also showed the dynamic image of modern woman via advertisements of sports brands. In the case of celebrity fashion, both inside and outside Korea, they introduced the track suits in a comfortable and sensual manner through both official and unofficial image releases. In the fashion collections, transboundary deconstructiveness was strongly expressed in terms of design, material, color, and production method. The case study in this research indicated that the symbolism in track suits was characterized as transboundary deconstruction as well as value in dynamic femininity, and products from reactionary nostalgia.

  • Purpose: In this study, the lifetime distribution of a k-out-of-n system with heterogeneous components is suggested as Markov model, and the time-to-failure (TTF) distribution of each component is considered as phase-type distribution (PHD). Furthermore, based on the model, a redundancy allocation problem with a mix of components (RAPMC) is proposed. Methods: The lifetime distribution model for the system is formulated by the structured Markov chain. From the model, the various information on the system lifetime can be ascertained by the matrix-analytic (or-geometric) method. Conclusion: By the generalization of TTF distribution (PHD) and the consideration of heterogeneous components, the lifetime distribution model can delineate many real systems and be exploited for developing system operation policies such as preventive maintenance, warranty. Moreover, the effectiveness of the proposed RAPMC is verified by numerical experiments. That is, under the equivalent design conditions, it presented a system with higher reliability than RAP without component mixing (RAPCM).

  • Ras small GTPases are involved in regulating various cellular signaling pathways including cell migration, proliferation, and differentiation. Ras GTPase subfamily is comprised of 15 proteins; 11 Ras, 3 Rap, and one Rheb related protein. Some Ras proteins, such as RasC and RasG, have been identified for their major functions, but there are proteins whose functions have not been studied yet, such as RasU and RasX. Here, we investigated the roles of RasU in cell motility and development. RasU shows the highest homology with RasX. To investigate the functions of RasU, rasU null cells were used to observe the phenotype. Cells lacking RasU were larger and more spread than wild-type cells. These results indicate that RasU plays a negative role in cell spreading. In addition, we investigated the roles of RasU in cell motility and development of Dictyostelium cells and found that rasU null cells exhibited decreased random migration speed and delayed developmental process. These results suggest that RasU plays an important role in cell motility and development.

  • Lck-interacting transmembrane adaptor 1 (LIME) has been previously identified as a raft-associated transmembrane protein expressed predominantly in T and B lymphocytes. Although LIME is shown to transduce the immunoreceptor signaling and immunological synapse formation via its tyrosine phosphorylation by Lck, a Src-family kinase, the in vivo function of LIME has remained elusive in the previous studies. Here we report that LIME is preferentially expressed in effector T cells and mediates chemokine-mediated T cell migration. Interestingly, in LIME-/- mice, while T cell receptor stimulation-dependent proliferation, differentiation to effector T cells, cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL) function and regulatory T lymphocyte (Treg) function were normal, only T cell-mediated inflammatory response was significantly defective. The reduced inflammation was accompanied by the impaired infiltration of leukocytes and T cells to the inflammatory sites of LIME-/- mice. More specifically, the absence of LIME in effector T cells resulted in the reduced migration and defective morphological polarization in response to inflammatory chemokines such as CCL5 and CXCL10. Consistently, LIME-/- effector T cells were found to be defective in chemokine-mediated activation of Rac1 and Rap1, and dysregulated phosphorylation of Pyk2 and Cas. Taken together, the present findings show that LIME is a critical regulator of inflammatory chemokine-mediated signaling and the subsequent migration of effector T cells to inflammatory sites.

  • The usage of recycling agent is the most effective way of enhancing the performance of recycled asphalt pavement. Generally, many countries accepted these recycling agents retarding the various types of cracks resulted in binder aging. Contrary to such general tendency, recycling agents are used as very small amount in domestic recycling plant. The main reason of this is relatively high price of recycling agent. Even though agent price is high, agent can be a effective and economical way of alternative in asphalt recycling. In this study, penetration and softning point test performed by using RTFO(Rolling Thin Film Oven) aged binder. And, PG(Performance Grade) at high temperature, fatigue and MSCR(Multi Stress Creep and Recovery) tests exercised. The oil type agent is worked well to retrieving target penetration number. In PG test, $G^*/sin{\delta}$ of agents identically showed high value and polymer type agent is good at recovery value.
