In this paper, we try to find the optimal locations of NeNB(Nomadic evolved NodeB)s for maximizing the overall throughput of the PS-LTE networks. Since finding optimal locations of all NeNBs in a given area is NP-hard(Non-deterministic Polynomial time-hard) problem, we proposed a PSO-based heuristic approach. In order to evaluate the performance, we conducted two experiments. We compared performance with other schemes such as Exhaustive Search, Random Walk Search, and locating neighboring NeNBs with the same NeNB-to-NeNB distance. The proposed method showed the similar results to the exhaustive search method in terms of locating optimal position and user's data throughput. The proposed method, however, has the fast and consistent convergence time.

A three dimensional random walk particle tracking method is applied to the Saemangeum area in order to find stepwise environmental changes according to long term construction. Flow regime around Mangyeong, Dongjin and Geum river estuary changed greatly due to dike construction. It is distinctive that reduction of Byeonsan area's flow field and stagnant change in the northern part of the inner reservoir. Similar characteristics are found through the tidal excursion analysis. By analysis of the vertical mixing structures according to density stratification based on temperature and salinity variation, a salt wedge and very strong stratification arises in the inner part of the reservoir after final closure, while it has been well mixed or partially mixed estuary during construction. Shrinking of horizontal dispersion and vertical mixing capability may cause adverse effect on water quality not only inner part but also outer region of the Saemangeum reservoir.

Objective: This study aimed to analyze the effects of freezing of gait on spatiotemporal variables, ground reaction forces (GRFs), and joint moments during the sit-to-walk task at the preferred and maximum speeds in patients with Parkinson's disease (PD). Method: The subjects were classified by a neurologist into 12 freezers, 12 non-freezers, and 12 controls. Sit-to-walk parameters were measured during three repetitions of the task in a random order at the preferred and maximum possible speeds. Results: In the sit-to-walk task at the preferred speed, the freezers and non-freezers exhibited a higher peak anterior-posterior GRF (p<0.001) in the sit-to-stand phase and lower step velocity (p<0.001), step length (p<0.001), and peak anterior-posterior GRF (p<0.001) in the first-step phase than the controls. The freezers had higher peak anterior-posterior GRF (p<0.001) and peak moment of the hip joint (p=0.008) in the sit-to-stand phase than the non-freezers. In the sit-to-walk phase at the maximum speed, the freezers and non-freezers had lower peak moment of the hip joint (p=0.008) in the sit-to-stand phase than the controls. The freezers and non-freezers displayed lower step velocity (p<0.001) and peak anterior-posterior GRF (p<0.001) in the first-step phase than the controls. The freezers showed higher peak moments of the hip joint in the sit-to-stand phase than the non-freezers (p=0.008). Conclusion: The PD patients had reduced control ability in sit-to-stand motions for efficient performance of the sit-to-walk task and reduced performance in the sit-to-walk task. Furthermore, the freezers displayed reduced control ability in the sit-to-stand task. Finally, the PD patients exhibited a lower ability to control dynamic stability with changes in speed than the controls.

As heavy precipitation rates have increased due to climate change, the risk of landslides has also become greater. Studies in the field of disaster risk assessment predominantly focus on evaluating intrinsic importance represented by the use or role of facilities. This work, however, focused on evaluating risks according to the external conditions of facilities, which were presented via debris flow simulation. A random walk model (RWM) was partially improved and used for the debris flow simulation. The existing RWM algorithm contained the problem of the simulation results being overly concentrated on the maximum slope line. To improve the model, the center cell height was adjusted and the inertia application method was modified. Facility information was collected from a digital topographic map layer. The risk level of each object was evaluated by combining the simulation result and the digital topographic map layer. A risk assessment technique suitable for the polygon and polyline layers was applied, respectively. Finally, by combining the evaluated risk with the attribute table of the layer, a system was prepared that could create a list of objects expected to be damaged, derive various statistics, and express the risk of each facility on a map. In short, we used an easy-to-understand simulation algorithm and proposed a technique to express detailed risk information on a map. This work will aid in the user-friendly development of a debris flow risk assessment system.

The three-dimensional flows in the Weis-Fogh mechanism are studied by flow visualization and numerical simulation by the vortex method. The vortex method. especially the vortex stick method, is employed to investigate the vortex structure in the wake of the two wings. The pressure is estimated by the Bernoulli equation, and the lift on the wing are also obtained. As the results the eddies near the leading edge of each wing in the fling stage take a convex shape because the eddies shed from both tips entrain the flows and the downwash in the rotating stage is deflected toward the outside because the outside tip vortex is stronger than the inside one. And the lift coefficient on the wings in this mechanism is almost independent of the Reynolds number.
The three-dimensional flows in the Weis-Fogh mechanism are studied by flow visualization and numerical simulation by the discrete vortex method. In this mechanism, two wings open, touching their trailing edges (fling), and rotate in opposite directions in the horizontal plane. The structure of the vortex systems shed from the wings is very complicated and their effects on the forces on the wings have not yet been clarified. The discrete vortex method, especially the vortex stick method, is employed to investigate the vortex structure in the wake of the two wings. The wings are represented by lattice vortices, and the shed vortices are expressed by discrete three-dimensional vortex sticks. The vortex distributions and the velocity field are calculated. The pressure is estimated by the Bernoulli equation, and the lift on the wing are also obtained.
The Flow patterns around two cylinders in various arrangements were studied by a discrete vortex method. The flow for the surface of each cylinder was represented by arranging bound vortices at adequate intervals. The viscous diffusion of fluid was represented by the random walk method. The vortex distributions, streaklines, timelines and velocity vectors around two cylinders were calculated for centre-to-centre pitch ratios of $P/D=1.5 and 2.5$, attack angles of ${\alpha}=0^{\circ},\;30^{\circ},\;60^{\circ}\;and\;90^{\circ}$, and Reynolds number of Re=1200. The results of simulation correspond to the photographs by flow visualization and the flow intereference between two cylinders in various arrangements was clearly visualized by a numerical simulation.

Debris flow is a representative natural disaster in Korea and occurs frequently every year. Recently, it has caused considerable damage to property and considerable loss of life in both mountainous and urban regions. Therefore, It is necessary to estimate the scope of damage for a large area in order to predict the debris flow. A response model such as the random walk model(RWM) can be used as a useful tool instead of a physics-based numerical model. RWM is a probability model that simplifies both debris flows and sedimentation characteristics as a factor of slopes for a subjective site and represents a relatively simple calculation method compared to other debris flow behavior calculation models. Although RWM can be used to analyzing and predicting the scope of damage caused by a debris flow, input variables for terrain conditions are yet to be determined. In this study, optimal input variables were estimated using DEM generated from the Aerial Photograph and LiDAR data of Mt. Umyeon, Seoul, where a large-scale debris flow occurred in 2011. Further, the deposition volume resulting from the debris flow was predicted using the input variables for a specific area in which the deposition volume could not be calculated because of work restoration and the passage of time even though a debris flow occurred there. The accuracy of the model was verified by comparing the result of predicting the deposition volume in the debris flow with the result obtained from a debris flow behavior analysis model, Debris 2D.
