In electric railway system, potential of rail has been risen, for return-current flows through rail. The magnitude of rising voltage is different to railway feed system, ground admittance of rail and the load current. If rising voltage of rail is large, electric shock can be occurred to passengers and maintenance- worker, In this paper, we estimate the rising voltage of rail in high speed railway system and check the safety to human beings.
An algorithm and a computer software are developed for the analysis of rail potential rise. The algorithm is intended to be integrated with the traction power system simulation program. In the algorithm, rail potentials are obtained by two step process. First the injection currents to the negative rail are obtained from load-flow study. In the next step, a network consisting of negative rail and the injection currents are constructed. Leakage resistance to ground are added to the network. And the network is analyzed for rail potentials. A software is developed to verify the validity of the algorithm. The result of the software is compared with the Simulink/SymPower circuit analysis result. The differences between the two results are with the acceptable range. The advantage of this algorithm is that it can be integrated with the existing traction power supply simulation program easily, which usually ignores negative rail's leakage resistance.
Successful market adoption of rail freight transport innovations that might offer opportunities for market share increase is the focus of this paper. Firstly, seen from a theoretical point of view, it is not incremental innovations but radical organizational and transformation innovations that are likely to increase the market share of rail freight transport. Secondly, the particular inovations that offer some success potential for market adoption are: dedicated infrastructure, the fixed timetable, locomotive upgrades, and INTERFACE. Thirdly, unfortunately, the opportunities to increase the market share of rail freight transport appear to be limited.
To study the rail mapped deformation caused by the pier settlement of simply - supported bridges with China Railway Track System III (CRTS III) slab ballastless track (SBT) system under the mode of non-longitudinal connection ballastless track slab, this study derived an analytical solution to the mapped relationships between pier settlement and rail deformation based on the interlayer interaction mechanism of rail-pier and principle of stationary potential energy. The analytical calculation results were compared with the numerical results obtained by ANSYS finite element calculation, thus verifying the accuracy of analytical method. A parameter analysis was conducted on the key factors in rail mapped deformation such as pier settlement, fastener stiffness, and self-compacting concrete (SCC) stiffness of filling layer. The results indicate that rail deformation is approximately proportional to pier settlement. The smaller the fastener stiffness, the smoother the rail deformation curve and the longer the rail deformation area is. With the increase in the stiffness of SCC filling layer, the maximum positive deformation of rail gradually decreases, and the maximum negative deformation gradually increases. The deformation of rail caused by the pier settlement of common-span bridge structures will generate low-frequency excitation on high-speed trains.

The high pressure common rail injection system offers a high potential for improving emmisions and performance characteristics in large direct diesel engines. High pressures in the common rail with electronic control allows the fuel quantity and injection timing to be optimized and controlled throughout a wide range of engine rpm and load conditions. In this study, high pressure supply pump, common rail, pipes, solenoid and control chamber, and nozzle were modeled in order to predict needle lift, rate of injection, and total injected fuel quantity. When the common rail pressure is raised up to 13.0 ㎫ and the targer injection duration is 1.0ms, the pressure drop in common rail is about 5.0㎫. The angle of effective pressurization is necessary to be optimized for the minimum pump drive torque and high pressure in common rail depending on the operating conditions. The characteristics of injection were also greatly influenced by the pressures in common rail, the areas of the inlet and exit orifice of the control chamber.

Rail breaks and derailments can cause a huge loss to rail players due to loss of service, revenue, property or even life. Maintenance has huge impact on reliability and safety of railroads. It is important to identify factors behind rail degradation and their risks associated with rail breaks and derailments. Development of mathematical models is essential for prediction and prevention of risks due to rail and wheel set damages, rail breaks and derailments. This paper addresses identification of hazard modes, estimation of probability of those hazards under operating, curve and environmental condition, probability of detection of potential hazards before happening and severity of those hazards for informed strategic decisions. Emphasis is put on optimal maintenance and operational decisions. Real life data is used for illustration.
DC feeding system is mainly floating but the rail potential and the leakage current are created because of long parallelism between rails and ground. Rail potential causes electric shock to human and leakage current causes electrolytic corrosion to nearby the buried metals. Therefore the design technologies to reduce, protect and monitor these effects are important recent DC feeding system. Rail potential and leakage current are analysed based on propagation theory that is utilized in order to simulate grounding system. New measurement procedure is proposed based on this analysis in order to more be accurate in result.

DC railway power supply system generally uses the running rails as negative-polarity return conductor for traction load current, and the induced rail potential and stay current cause serious problems to any electrified matter in the underground and also safety problems to human body. This paper presents a new algorithm for the analysis of the rail potential and the stray current in DC railway power system operated under independent/parallel power feeding mode. The effect of load current fluctuation during train operation is also calculated by using TPS(Train Performance Simulation) program to analysis the variation of the railway potential and stray current along railway track. Simulation program is developed based on the proposed algorithm and case studies are provided.
This study presents accurate simulation to examine a reason rail potential rise and how to design ground connection(Cross Connection Cable, CCC) and draw up a plan of an optimal buried grounding system according to section.
