There exists strong evidence supporting the co-evolution of central supermassive black holes and their host galaxies; however it is still under debate how such a relation comes about and whether it is relevant for all or only a subset of galaxies. An important mechanism connecting AGN to their host galaxies is AGN feedback, potentially heating up or even expelling gas from galaxies. AGN feedback may hence be responsible for the eventual quenching of star formation and halting of galaxy growth. A rich multi-wavelength dataset ranging from the X-ray regime (Chandra), to far-IR (Herschel), and radio (WSRT) is available for the North Ecliptic Pole field, most notably surveyed by the AKARI infrared space telescope, covering a total area on the sky of 5.4 sq. degrees. We investigate the star-formation properties and possible signatures of radio feedback mechanisms in the host galaxies of 237 radio-AGN below redshift z=2 and at a radio 1.4 GHz flux density limit of 0.1 mJy. Using broadband SED modeling, the nuclear and host galaxy components of these sources are studied simultaneously as a function of their radio luminosity. Here we present results concerning the AGN content of the radio sources in this field, while offering evidence supporting a "maintenance" type of feedback from powerful radio-jets.

Radio-loud active galaxies have been found to exhibit a close connection to galactic mergers and host galaxy star-formation quenching. We present preliminary results of an optical spectroscopic investigation of the AKARI NEP field. We focus on the population of radio-loud AGN and use photometric and spectroscopic information to study both their star-formation and nuclear activity components. Preliminary results show that radio-AGN are associated with early type, massive galaxies with relatively old stellar populations.
We have mapped $1 deg^2$ region toward a high latitude HII region S73 (l, b) = ($37^{\circ}.69$, $44^{\circ}.55$) and associated molecular cloud in $^{12}CO$ J = 1 - 0, and $^{13}CO$ J = 1 - 0, using the 3 mm SIS receiver on the 14 m telescope at Taeduk Radio Astronomy Observatory. A high resolution autocorrelator is used to resolve extremely narrow CO linewidths (FWHP < 1 km/s) of the molecular cloud. Though the linewidths are very narrow, it is found that there is systematic velocity gradient in the molecular gas associated with the H II region. Both of $^{12}CO$ and $^{13}CO$ averaged spectra are non-gaussian, and there are obvious blue wings in the spectra. It is remarkable that the linewidths at the blueshifted region are broader than those of the rest of the cloud. The CO emission does match well with the dust emission.

We report preliminary results from our radio study of X-ray selected complete AGN sample in the Local Universe (z < 0.05), using the KVN/KaVA. The main goal is to probe the parsec-scale radio properties of the X-ray selected AGNs, which has not been done systematically before. The BASS (Burst Alert Telescope AGN spectroscopic survey) sample from the Swift-BAT hard X-ray all-sky survey is the least biased AGN sample against dense gas/torus obscurations compared to optically selected AGNs, providing ideal targets to study the general properties of local AGNs in radio wavelengths. Combining our radio data with BASS X-ray/optical measurements, we will probe the relations of radio powers with the fundamental quantities of black holes such as bolometric luminosity, black hole mass, and Eddington ratio. Using these relations, we will discuss our current understandings of how accretions and jets of local AGNs are linked together, and what they imply for the nature of our AGN sample.
To investigate the connection between radio activity and AGN outflows, we present a study of ionized gas kinematics by using [O III] ${\lambda}5007$ emission line along the radio jet for six radio AGNs. These AGNs are selected based on the radioactivity (L1.4GHz ${\geq}$ 1039.8 erg s-1) as well as optical properties as type 2 AGNs. By using the high spatial resolution of the Red Channel Cross Dispersed Echellette Spectrograph at the Multiple Mirror Telescope, we investigate in detail the [O III] and stellar kinematics. We spatially resolve and probe the central AGN-photoionization sizes, which is important in understanding the structures and evolutions of galaxies. We find that the typical central AGN-photoionization sizes of our targets are in range of 1.8-3.8 kpc. We study the [O III] kinematics along the radio jets to test whether there is a link between gas outflows in the narrow-line region and radio jet emissions. Contrary to our expectation, we find no evidence that the gas outflows are directly connected to radio jet emission.
The probability distribution function of column density (N-PDF) has been used for studying the characteristics of molecular clouds. In particular, the properties of N-PDF can reveal the nature of turbulence and gravity inside the molecular cloud. We use the dust continuum emission at $450{\mu}m$ and $850{\mu}m$ observed as part of the JCMT Gould Belt Survey (GBS) (Mairs et al. 2016), the 12CO J=1-0 line observed with the 45 m telescope at Nobeyama Radio Observatory (NRO) (Shimajiri et al. 2011), 13CO, C18O and HCO+ J=1-0 observed with the 13.7 m telescope at Taeduk Radio Astronomy Observatory (TRAO), as part of the TRAO key science project, "mapping Turbulent properties In star-forming MolEcular clouds down to the Sonic scale" (TIMES; PI: Jeong-Eun Lee). We here present the N-PDFs derived from the continuum and the molecular line emission toward the Orion A molecular cloud and compare their behaviors in order to investigate the chemical and optical depth effects on the N-PDF.
To investigate the properties of the narrow-line regions and the accretion disks of YRGs, we study a sample of 28 young radio galaxies (YRGs) observed with the Kast Double Spectrograph at the Shane 3-m telescope and with the DBSP (Double Spectrograph for the Palomar 200-inch Telescope) at Palomar observatory. In addition we collect an addition sample of 15 YRGs with the optical spectra from the SDSS archive. We present the measured narrow-line region properties based on the various emission line ratios, i.e., [O III]/$H{\beta}$, [N II]/$H{\alpha}$, [S II] 6716/6731, [O I]/[O III], [O II]/[O III] and [Ar III]/[O III], which are useful to constrain the gas properties and the states of the accretion disk. We will discuss the characteristics of YRG.
Immediate vicinity of a supermassive black hole (SMBH) is an important place to test general relativity in strong gravity regime. Also, this is a place where mass accretion and jet formation actively occurs at the centers of active galaxies. Theoretical studies predict presence of bright ring-like emission encircling an accreting SMBH with a diameter of about 5 Schwarzschild radii, and a flux depression at the center (i.e., BH shadow). Direct imaging of the BH shadow is accordingly of great importance in modern astrophysics. However, the angular sizes of the horizon-scale structures are desperately small (e.g., ~40-50 microarcseconds (uas) diameter for the nearest best candidates). This poses serious challenges to observe them directly. Event Horizon Telescope (EHT) is a global network of sensitive radio telescopes operating at 230 GHz (1.3 mm), providing ultra-high angular resolution of 20 uas by cutting-edge very long baseline interferometry techniques. With this resolution, EHT aims to directly image the nearest SMBHs; M87 and the galactic center Sgr $A{\ast}$ (~40-50 uas diameters). In Spring 2017, the EHT collaboration conducted a global campaign of EHT and multiwavelength observations of M87 and Sgr $A{\ast}$, with addition of the phased ALMA to the 1.3mm VLBI array. In this talk, I review results from past mm-VLBI and EHT observations, provide updates on the results from the 2017 campaign, and future perspectives.
