  • With the development of wireless network technologies, mobile users may use various networks easily and expect more advanced services. On the other hand, it may bring on some problems with network resource management that should lead the service provider to improve the current service quality and manage the network resource efficiently. This paper proposes the optimized radio resource management (RRM) scheme that integrates the Grey Relational Analysis (GRA) and game theory. The first applies the GRA to determine the Grey Relation Coefficient (GRC) factors that represent the network preference, and the network provider then selects the requested service that provide maximum payoff through Nash Equilibrium. Six requested services that have one application service among four different types of service classes were considered and the game was played repeatedly. In WiMAX, WLAN 1 and WLAN 2 game, the maximum payoff of each players was 93, 90.6 and 92.8 respectively. The experimental results show that every requested service can be selected by the network provider. Consequently, the proposed radio resource management mechanism is more effective in heterogeneous wireless networks.

  • Carrier aggregation is an essential feature in the Long Term Evolution-Advanced (LTE-A) system, which allows the scalable expansion of the effective bandwidth to be delivered to user equipment (UE) through the concurrent use of radio resources across multiple component carriers (CCs). This system's optimal radio-resource use has received much attention under simultaneous access (SA) scenarios for multiple CCs (m-CCs). This letter establishes how many CCs a UE should simultaneously connect to maintain maximum uplink capacity. Under the m-CC LTE-A system, the spectral efficiency of the m-CC SA scheme ($m{\geq}2$) is compared with that of CC selection (CCS). Numerical results reveal that the 2-CC SA scheme outperforms CCS and performs almost equally to the m-CC SA scheme ($m{\geq}3$).

  • The energy-efficient design of sensing-based spectrum sharing of a multi-input and multi-output (MIMO) cognitive radio (CR) system with imperfect multiple antenna spectrum sensing is investigated in this study. Optimal resource allocation strategies, including sensing time and power allocation schemes, are studied to maximize the energy efficiency (EE) of the secondary base station under the transmit power and interference power constraints. EE problem is formulated as a nonlinear stochastic fractional programming of a nonconvex optimal problem. The EE problem is transformed into its equivalent nonlinear parametric programming and solved by one-dimension search algorithm. To reduce searching complexity, the search range was founded by demonstration. Furthermore, simulation results confirms that an optimal sensing time exists to maximize EE, and shows that EE is affected by the spectrum detection factors and corresponding constraints.

  • This letter proposes an efficient joint resource allocation scheme for OFDM-based cooperative cognitive radio networks (CRNs) under various practical limitations. Compared with those traditional approaches, which guarantee the transmission rates of cognitive users, the proposed scheme ensures that cognitive users are maintained in proportion to the predefined target rates. Numerical simulation shows that the proposed scheme can achieve a reasonable tradeoff between performance and computational complexity.

  • Cognitive radio(CR) techniques have been considered as a strong solution of frequency scarcity due to the limitation of frequency resource, In this paper, an orthogonal beamforming method is proposed that enables cognitive radio systems to coexist with a primary users' system in the same spectrum and region without causing interference to primary systems. The orthogonal multiple beams for multi-users of CR systems are obtained through the generation of orthogonal subspaces from primary users' channel state information. To increase the sum-rate of the CR systems, the proposed scheme adopts opportunistic radio resource allocation techniques. Simulation results provides that the proposed scheme achieves 2.72bps/Hz, the sum-rate capacity at 20 cognitive users in an area with two antennas at the cognitive radio basestation.

  • Resource allocation, such as joint rate control and scheduling, is an important issue in cognitive radio networks. However, it is difficult to jointly consider the rate control and scheduling problem due to the stochastic behavior of channel availability in cognitive radio networks. In this paper, we propose an asymmetric joint rate control and scheduling technique under reliability constraints in cognitive radio networks. The joint rate control and scheduling problem is formulated as a convex optimization problem and substantially decomposed into several sub-problems using a dual decomposition method. An algorithm for secondary users to locally update their rate that maximizes the utility of the overall system is also proposed. The results of simulations revealed that the proposed algorithm converges to a globally optimal solution.

  • Cognitive Radio system can guarantee available channel whenever, wherever by sensing surrounding channel condition. Therefore, there is a strict rule that have to use allocated channel efficiently without any interference from incumbent User. In this paper, to avoid interference which can occur during uplink transmission in CR system, we propose reporter using scheme which informs incumbent user's situation to adjacent cell to limit channel usage. Therefore, we can use more channel in each cell without interference. With this scheme we can expect better throughput using more channel in a large space with same resource.

  • Demands for high-speed wireless data services grow rapidly. It is a big challenge to increasing the network capacity operating on licensed spectrum resources. Unlicensed spectrum cellular networks have been proposed as a solution in response to severe spectrum shortage. Licensed Assisted Access (LAA) was standardized by 3GPP, aiming to deliver data services through unlicensed 5 GHz spectrum. Furthermore, the 3GPP proposed 5G New Radio-Unlicensed (NR-U) study item. On the other hand, artificial intelligence (AI) has attracted enormous attention to implement 5G and beyond systems, which is known as Intelligent Radio (IR). To tackle the challenges of unlicensed spectrum networks in 4G/5G/B5G systems, a lot of works have been done, focusing on using Machine Learning (ML) to support resource allocation in LTE-LAA/NR-U and Wi-Fi coexistence environments. Generally speaking, ML techniques are used in IR based on statistical models established for solving specific optimization problems. In this paper, we aim to conduct a comprehensive survey on the recent research efforts related to unlicensed cellular networks and IR technologies, which work jointly to implement 5G and beyond wireless networks. Furthermore, we introduce a positioning assisted LTE-LAA system based on the difference in received signal strength (DRSS) to allocate resources among UEs. We will also discuss some open issues and challenges for future research on the IR applications in unlicensed cellular networks.

  • In Cognitive Radio network, spectrum selection scheme is one of a important part to manage idle spectrums efficiently. However, in CR networks, they have to adopt time-varying channel availability to minimize the interference to primary users (PU), and be able to manage spectrum resources efficiently. In this paper, we proposed a modified PF scheduler which can be appropriate to schedule downlink CR users and channels, by considering the fairness and the throughput as well as the primary user characteristics of each channel.
