옥계 함금석영맥광상 주변모암에서의 원소들의 일차분산 (Primary Dispersion of Elements in Altered Wallrocks around the Gold-bearing Quartz Veins at the Okgye Mine)

  • Geochemical studies on gold-bearing quartz veins and wallrocks from the Okgye mine were carried out in order to investigate the primary dispersion patterns of gold and associated elements and to quantify the dispersion width of elements with distance from the gold-bearing quartz veins. Gold-bearing quartz veins occur in basaltic trachyandesite of unknown age. Enrichment of $k_2O$, MnO, Au, As, Rb, Sb, Pb, Zn, Cu, Ag and Cd, and depletion of $Na_2O$ and Sr are found in altered wallrocks. The ratio of $k_2O(k_2O+Na_2O)$, alteration index for trace elements, and Rb/Sr in altered wallrocks are increased, whereas Sr/CaO ratio is decreased with approach to the gold-bearing quartz veins. The widths of primary dispersion range from 17 cm to 155 cm. The relative dispersion width increases in order Au=Cu=Zn=Ag=Cd$k_2O$=Rb and Ba< $Na_2O$ $Na_2O$, As, Sb, Sr, Pb, Au, Cu, Zn, Ag and Cd, and a quadratic function for $k_2O$, MnO, Rb and Ba.

석영 나노 결정의 합성과 특성 (Synthesis and Characterization of Quartz Nanocrystals)

  • 본 연구에서는 석영 나노 결정의 합성과 특성 분석을 진행하였다. 비정질 실리카 나노 입자 전구체가 용해된 용액을 섭씨 250도 온도와 자가 압력의 온건한 열수 반응 하에서 석영 나노 결정을 성공적으로 합성하였다. 합성된 나노 결정의 화학적 조성과 구조 분석을 시행하였다. 알파 석영의 특징적인 고결정질 상의 나노 구조를 가지는 석영 나노 결정의 평균 크기는 반응 시간에 따라 407.5 에서 826.2 nm까지 비교적 좁은 범위에서 조정될 수 있음을 발견하였다. 본 연구를 통해 발견된 석영 나노 입자는 광전자, 센서, 및 충전식 배터리 소자의 기술 응용에 매우 중요한 잠재적 용도가 있을 것으로 사료된다.

  • Several mines in Jeonnam produce the ores of having high SK number of refractoriness. Among those for 5 mines, this paper deals with the relationahip between SK number and mineral composition of the ore, and with the genesis of the deposits. 1. Byok-Song and Chon-Un Mine: Mineral compositions of the ores are chiastolite, chloritoid(monoclinic), kaolinite, sericite, diaspore, corundum, and quartz. The ores having SK number of 36 or 37, consist chiefly of chiastolite and diaspore and a little amount of kaolinite, sericite, corundum, chloritoid, and quartz. The ores having SK number of 33 or 34 consist of chloritoid, sericite, kaolinite, chiastolite, and diaspore. With increasing the amount of chloritoid and sericite, and decreasing the amount of diaspore and chiastolite, the SK number of the ores decreases. The deposit, originally high alumina-bearing shale of Chon-Un San formation, seems to be formed by contact metamorphism(forming of chiastolite), regional metamorphism(forming of monoclinic chloritoid), and hydrothermal replacement(forming of large crystal of diaspore veinlets). 2. Song-Sauk Mine: Mineral compositions of the ores are chiefly pyrophyllite and quartz and a little amount of kaolinite, dickite, diaspore, and pyrite. Many spherical inclusions containing in pyrophyllite deposits, consist chiefly of diaspore and kaolinite, The inclusions have the high SK number of 38. Amount of spherical inclusions is about 5 % to the whole pyrophyllite ores. The SK number of other pyrophyllite ore is less than 32. Quartz and pyrite are chief minerals lowering the SK number of the ore. The deposits have been formed by hydrothermal processes by replacing the siliceous tuff of Mesozoic age. Spherical inclusions consisting of diaspore and kaolinite, show the selective replacement of hydrothermal solutions to the materials of feldspar in tuff. 3. Seung-San Mine: Mineral compositions of the ores are chiefly kaolinite, dickite, diaspore, and quartz. But some part of the mine consists of alunite deposits. The ores having SK number of 35 or higher consist chiefly of kaolinite and diaspore and a little amount of quartz. With increasing the amount of quartz and decresing the amount of diaspore, the SK number of the ore decreases. The deposits have been formed by hydrothermal processes by replacing the siliceous tuff and quartz porphyry. 4. Wan-Do Mine: Mineral compositions of the ores are chiefly pyrophyllite and quartz. But some ore contains a little amount of diaspore, kaolinite, pyrite, and chloritoid. The ores having high SK number of 36 consist chiefly of diaspore and pyrophyllite. Pyrophyllite ore has a SK number of 32 or lower. Amount of quartz and pyrite decreases the SK number of ores in this mine. Rhyolite was replaced by the action of hydrothermal solutions forming the pyrophyllite deposits.

Lithium Alumino Silicate계 유리에서 알카리 토류 첨가에 따른 $\beta$-quartz고용체의 형성에 관한 연구 (The formation of $\beta$-quartz solid silution in lithiu alumino silicate glasses)

  • 본 연구는 Lithium Alumino Silicate 기본계에 핵형성제로 $TiO_{2}$$ZrO_{2}$를 사용하여 기본유리를 제조하고 열처리에 따른 $\beta$-quartz고용체의 미결정 형성과정을 분석하였다. 또한 $\beta$-quartz고용체의 형성에 따른 열적 특성과 광학적 특성을 비교하였다. 그 결과, 기본 유리의 열팽창 계수는 $45\sim 55 \times 10^{-7} \textrm{cm}/^{\circ}C$였으며, 결정화 시편의 열팽창 계수는$ -8\sim +8 \times 10^{-7}\textrm{cm}/^{\circ}C$ ($25^{\circ}C \sim 525^{\circ}C$)였다. $900^{\circ}C$이하에서 열처리된 Glass Cermics의 결정은 $\beta$-quartz 고용체가 형성되었고, 결정의 크기가 0.21$\mu \textrm{m}$를 초과하지 않았으며, 최고의 투광도는 80%이상을 나타냈다. RO성분을 MgO와 ZnO를 사용한 경우보다 MgO 단독으로 사용한 시편을 결정입자의 크기가 온도에 의존하지 않고 일정함을 나타냈으며, ZnO의경우는 입자의 크기가 최소값(0.18$\mu \textrm{m}$)을 보이며 온도의존성이 크게 나타냈다.

FTIR과 XRD를 이용한 α-Quartz 분석법 비교 (Comparison of Analytical Methods for α-Quartz by FTIR and XRD)

  • This study compared FTIR with XRD method for the analysis of quartz by % recovery, coefficient of variation (CV) and influence of the interference. the results were as the following. 1. In FTIR method, the coefficient of determination ($r^2$) was 0.9998 in a calibration curve of $695\;cm^{-1}$, and the limit of detection was $4.9{\mu}g/sample$. 2. The highest recovery was $799\;cm^{-1}$ (98.2%). 3. The CVpooled of the FTIR method was approximately 10% in three wave numbers. 4. The analysis of qualitative and quantitative for quartz is difficult with mixed cristobalite and iron oxide. 5. In XRD method with rotating sample holder and LynxEye detector, the coefficient of determination was 0.9996 in a calibration curve, and the limit of detection was $5.9{\mu}g/sample$. 6. The recovery and CV pooled were 104.3%, and 11 %, respectively. 7. In muffle furnace ashing, the quartz weight decreased to 34% when the maximum weight of the iron oxide was more than eight times. In conclusion, the accuracy (% recovery) and precision (CV) of FTIR and XRD method for analyzing $\alpha$-quartz were similar. FTIR method was a disadvantage for sample matrix because it indicates possibility of interference. However, XRD method distinguished specific crystalline forms of silica, and the majority of silicate minerals. In addition, XRD method recommend filter dissolution to pretreatment method.

간섭식 적외선 분광기에 의한 태백지역 석탄광의 호흡성 분진 중 석영, 운모 및 장석의 정량분석 (Quantitative Analysis of Quartz, Mica, and Feldspar in Respirable Coalmine Dust in Taebaek Area by Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrophotometry)

  • A Fourier transform infrared spectrophotometric method was described for the determination of quartz, mica(sericite) and feldspar(potassium feldspar) in respirable dust in Taebaek area. The results were as follows; 1) The concentration of minerals were determined from the intensity of absorption peak of quartz at $799cm^{-1}$, sericite at $539cm^{-1}$, and potassium feldspar at $648cm^{-1}$ respectively. 2) The precision(C. V. %) for the quartz determination was $7.70{\pm}2.68%$ from 10 to $200{\mu}g$ of quartz. 3) The precision for the sericite determination was $16.34{\pm}6.82%$ from 30 to $500{\mu}g$ of serictite. 4) The precision for the potassium feldspar determination was $5.28{\pm}1.74%$ from 30 to $500{\mu}g$ of potassium feldspar. 5) The concentration of respirable dust in Taebaek area was $4.90{\pm}3.29mg/m^3$ (0.4-93.7%), percent quartz was $1.80{\pm}4.14%$ (0.01-20.56%), percent sericite was $11.37{\pm}6.43%$ (0.00-29.69%), percent potassium feldspar was 8.15% (n=7, 3.41-19.70%). 6) The difference of respirable coal dust, quartz, and sericite concentrations in drilling, coal cutting, hauling and seperating was significant respectively (p<0.05).

동보(東寶) 중석(重石)-모리브덴 광상(鑛床)의 광물공생(鑛物共生)과 유체포유물(流體包有物) (Mineral Paragenesis and Fluid Inclusions of the Dongbo Tungsten-Molybdenum Deposits)

  • The Dongbo tungsten-molybdenum deposits are fissure-filling veins emplaced in granites of late Cretaceous age. Integrated field, mineralogic and fluid inclusion studies were undertaken to illuminate the characters and origin of the ore deposits. Mineral paragenesis is complicated by repeated fracturing, but four distinct depositional stages can be recognized; (I) tungsten-molybdenum minerals-quartz-chlorite stage, (II) iron-oxide and sulfides-quartz stage, (III) iron -oxide-base metal sulfides-sulfosalts-quartz-carbonates stage, (IV) barren rhodochrosite-zeolite stage. Fluid inclusion studies were carried out for stage I quartz and stage III quartz, sphalerite and calcite. Fluid inclusion studies reveals highly systematic trends of homogenization temperature and salinity throughout the mineralization. Ore fluids during stage I were complex, NaCl rich brine and salinity reached values as high as 34.4 weight percent equivalent NaCl, but the later ore fluids were more dilute and reached to 9.7 weight percent equivalent NaCl during stage III. Intermittent boiling of ore fluid during stage I is indicated by the fluid inclusions in stage I quartz. Depositional temperatures and pressures during stage I range from $520^{\circ}C$ to $265^{\circ}C$and from 600 to 400 bars. Homogenization temperatures of the stage III quartz, sphalerite and calcite range from $305^{\circ}C$ to $190^{\circ}C$. Fluid inclusion data from the Dongbo mine are nearly similar to those from other hydrothermal tungsten deposits in the Kyeongsang basin. Depositional temperature and salinity of ore fluids during precipitation of tungsten-molybdenum minerals in Dongbo mine were much higher, but $CO_2$ contents were much lower than those from hydrothermal tungsten-molybdenum deposits of late Cretaceous plutonic association in central parts of Korean peninsula.

  • 일반적으로 석영은 지각을 구성하는 광물 가운데 가장 많은 부분을 차지하고 있으며, 이러한 석영의 용해와 침전에 대한 이해는 암석의 풍화 매커니즘과 열수작용 및 변성환경에서의 암석과 물의 관계를 규명하는데 매우 중요한 역할을 한다. 본 논문에서는 석영의 용해와 침전에 영향을 미치는 다양한 물리화학적 환경을 수식을 이용해 재정리하였으며, 이전의 연구자들이 발표한 연구결과를 바탕으로 물리화학적 조건하에서의 석영 용해에 대해 이론적 접근을 실시하였다. 본 논문을 통해서 석영의 용해 및 침전이 다양한 환경에 영향을 받으며, 특히 이론적 접근을 통해서 석영에 작용된 압력보다는 주변의 pH 및 온도 조건에 더 큰 영향을 받는다는 것을 확인하였다.

Sulfide MINERALs texture AT THE HUGO DUMMETT PORPHYRY Cu-Au DEPOSIT, OYU TOLGOI, MONGOLIA

  • Mineralogical studies of ore and alteration minerals have been conducted for the Hugo Dummett porphyry copper deposit. The Hugo Dummett porphyry copper gold deposit is located in the South Gobi region, Mongolia and currently being explored. This deposit divided into the Cu-rich Hugo Dummett South and the Cu-Au-rich Hugo Dummett North deposits. The Hugo Dummett deposits contain 1.08% copper(1.16 billion tonnes in total) and 0.23 g/t gold(Oyunchimeg et al., 2006). Copper-gold mineralization at these deposit are centered on a high-grade copper(typically>2.5%) and gold(0.5-2 g/t) zone of intense quartz stockwork veining. The high grade copper and gold zone is mainly within the Late Devonian quartz monzodiorite intrusions and augite basalt, also locally occurs in dacitic rocks. Intense quartz veining forms a lens up to 100 m wide hosted by augite basalt and partly by quartz monzodiorite. Although many explorations have been carried out, only a few scientific works were done in the Oyu Tolgoi mining area. Therefore the nature of copper-gold mineralization and orgin of the deposit is not fully understood. Copper-gold mineralization in the Hugo Dummett deposits occurs in dominantly quartz monzodiorite and minor augite basalt, dacitic rocks and locally biotite granodiorite. Chalcopyrite, pyrite, bornite, molybdenite, tennantite, tetrahedrite, enargite, sphalerite, chalcocite, covellite, eugenite, galena and gold occur as main ore minerals in the Hugo Dummett North and South deposits. These sulfides occur as: (1) a vague vein-like trail 1-3cm long and 2-3 mm wide, (2) minute, discontinuous cracks within quartz(micron scales), and (3) irregular blebs/spots(micron scales)and (4) disseminated within the sericite and plagioclase, commonly concentrated in the quartz. Sulfide minerals commonly display as a replacement, intergrown and minor exsolution texture in the both of the Hugo Dummet deposits.

  • The Mugeug gold deposits is consisted of more than fourteen gold and silver-bearing quartz veins emplaced in Mesozoic granodiorite mass. In the Samhyungje vein, one of the representative vein in the mine, six stages of mineralizatidns are recognized: Stage I, deposition of base-metal sulfides and gray quartz; stage II, deposition of base-metal sulfides, electrum and white quartz with pinkish tint; stage m, deposition of base-metal sulfides and dark gray quartz; stage N, deposition of native silver, argentite, Ag-tetrahedrite, polybasite, arsenpolybasite and quartz; stage V, deposition of nearly barren quartz; stage VI, deposition of transparent quartz veinlets with minor pyrite. Ag contents of electrum increase steadily from stage II to stage N; 57.25-61.44 atom. % for stage II, 62.85-69.66 atom. % for stage m, 69.79-74.12 atom. % for stage N. Homogenization temperatures of fluid inclusions are as follows; stage II, from $194^{\circ}$ to $287^{\circ}C$; stage V, from $137^{\circ}$ to $171^{\circ}C$, stage VI, from $192^{\circ}$ to $232^{\circ}C$. Salinities of fluid inclusions range from 3.7 to 7.9 wt.% equivalent NaCl in stage II and from 0.8 to 4.3 wt.% equivalent Nael in stage V. Ore mineralogy suggest that temperature and sulfur fugacity declined steadily from $290^{\circ}$ to $150^{\circ}C$ and from $10^{-10.5}$ to $10^{-19.0}$atm. through stage II into stage N. Fluid pressure during stage II inferred from data of mineral assemblages and fluid inclusions is 370bar.
