Blind Image Quality Assessment on Gaussian Blur Images

  • Multimedia is a ubiquitous and indispensable part of our daily life and learning such as audio, image, and video. Objective and subjective quality evaluations play an important role in various multimedia applications. Blind image quality assessment (BIQA) is used to indicate the perceptual quality of a distorted image, while its reference image is not considered and used. Blur is one of the common image distortions. In this paper, we propose a novel BIQA index for Gaussian blur distortion based on the fact that images with different blur degree will have different changes through the same blur. We describe this discrimination from three aspects: color, edge, and structure. For color, we adopt color histogram; for edge, we use edge intensity map, and saliency map is used as the weighting function to be consistent with human visual system (HVS); for structure, we use structure tensor and structural similarity (SSIM) index. Numerous experiments based on four benchmark databases show that our proposed index is highly consistent with the subjective quality assessment.

마인드맵을 활용한 회상치료가 여성 치매 의심 노인의 인지기능, 우울 지수 및 삶의 질에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Reminiscence Therapy Using Mind Map to Improve Cognitive Function, Depression Index, Quality of Life for Elderly Women Suspected Of Dementia.)

  • 목적 마인드맵을 활용한 회상치료가 여성 치매 의심 노인의 인지기능과 우울 지수 및 삶의 질에 미치는 영향을 알아보고자 하였다. 연구방법 본 연구는 무작위 대조군 전 후 실험설계를 사용하였다. 연구 대상자는 여성 치매 의심 노인으로 실험군 7명, 대조군 7명으로 이루어져 있다. 모든 대상자는 중재 기간 동안 동일하게 20분간 그리기 활동에 참여하였고, 실험군은 추가로 마인드맵을 활용한 회상치료를 적용하였다. 마인드맵을 활용한 회상 치료는 5주간, 주 2회, 1회당 40분씩 총 10회기로 구성하였다. 중재 효과를 검증하기 위해 사용된 평가 도구로 인지기능은 간이 정신상태 검사-한국판(Mini-Mental State Examination Korean Version ; MMSE-K), 우울 지수는 벡 우울증 척도 한국판(Korean Version of Beck Depression Inventory ; K-BDI), 삶의 질은 한국판 세계보건기구 삶의 질 간편형 척도(Korean Version of the World Health Organization Quality of Life Scale Abbreviated Version ; WHOQOL-BREF)를 사용하였다. 결과 분석은 기술 통계와 맨-휘트니 검정(Mann-Whitney U test), 윌콕슨 부호 순위 검정(Wilcoxon signed rank test)을 시행하였다. 연구결과 중재 후 집단 내에서 인지기능, 우울 지수, 삶의 질에 유의한 차이가 있었고, 집단 간 에서는 인지 기능에 유의한 차이가 있었다. 결론 마인드맵을 활용한 회상치료가 여성 치매 의심 노인의 인지기능과 우울 지수 및 삶의 질에 긍정적인 효과가 있음을 확인하였다.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to measure the Airline Educational Service Quality and to find ways to improve the priority factors that need improvement. Methods: The 267 collected data from the survey of K-airline calculate the Potential Customer Service Improvement Index based on the Kano Model, Timko Customer Satisfaction Index and conduct Focus Group Interview. Results: The satisfaction of Airline Educational Service Quality can be improved if instructor operations are intensively managed considering field experience and contents that can be applied in the field. Conclusion: This study would provide useful information about Airline Educational Service Quality and can be applied to map out strategies to improve the satisfaction of the Airline Educational Service.

Comparative Analyses of Community and Biological Indices based on Benthic Macroinvertebrates in Streams using a Self-Organizing Map

  • Benthic macroinvertebrate communities collected from eight different streams in South Korea were analyzed to compare community and biological indices across different levels of water pollution. The Self-Organizing Map (SOM) was utilized to provide overview on association of the proposed indices. The sample sites were accordingly clustered according to the gradient of pollution on the SOM. While the general trends of the indices were commonly observable according to different levels of pollution, the detailed differences among the indices were also illustrated on the SOM. The conventional diversity and evenness indices tended to be high even though the water quality state was poor representing relatively weak gradient at polluted sites, while the index presenting the saprobic degree such as family biotic index showed the stronger gradient at the polluted area and was robust to present the gradient. Our results also confirmed the general characterization of two indices: The Shannon index is more strengthened by the number of species occurring at the sample sites, while the Simpson index is more influenced by the degree of evenness among the species. The patterning based on the SOM was efficient in comparatively characterizing the proposed indices to present ecological states and water quality.

  • Purpose: Propose model to diagnose and assess National Defense Industry and quality management by investigating and analyzing established standard model. Methods: Research on established internal model including MB, EQA and JQA model and make standard index for quality index extraction and quantitative index to test objectively for internal state. Results: Extract advantage and disadvantage by performance of National Defense Industry level diagnose and build foundation for quality management policy and road map. Conclusion: Due to result of diagnostic assesment of quality management of national defense industry, dependability, SCQM and safety part shows vulnerability and require improvement and support.

방사선치료에서 환자맞춤형 선량품질보증 장치의 비교 (A Comparison of Patient-specific Delivery Quality Assurance (DQA) Devices in Radiation Therapy)

  • This study aimed to compare the results of delivery quality assurance (DQA) using MapCHECK and OCTAVIUS for radiation therapy. Thirty patients who passed the DQA results were retrospectively included in this study. The point dose difference (DD) and gamma passing rate (GPR) were analyzed to evaluate the agreement between the measured and planned data for all cases, Plan complexity was evaluated to analyze dosimetric accuracy by quantifying the degree of modulation according to each plan. We analyzed the monitor units (MUs) and total MUs for each plan to evaluate the correlation between the MUs and plan complexity. We used a paired t-test to compare the DD and GPRs that were obtained using the two devices. The DDs and GPRs were within the tolerance range for all cases. The average GPRs difference between the two devices was statistically significant for the brain, and head and neck for gamma criteria of 3%/3 mm and 2%/2 mm. There was no significant correlation between the modulation index and total MUs for any of the cases. These DQA devices can be used interchangeably for routine patient-specific QA in radiation therapy.

  • Most organizations have recently put more emphasis on the improvement in service quality. This phenomenon could come from the recognition that service quality plays an essential role in enhancing organization's business performance. Hence this paper presents a framework for improving such service quality. The presented framework involves the methodology for (i) developing service quality indices, (ii) measuring and evaluating service quality, (iii) analyzing the level of service quality, (iv) constructing the quality improvement road map, (v) determining the quality improvement action plan. This methodology is intended to create self-sustaining improvement in service quality from the entire organization's perspective. An illustration is also given.

Analysis of Land Cover Changes Based on Classification Result Using PlanetScope Satellite Imagery

  • Compared to the imagery produced by traditional satellites, PlanetScope satellite imagery has made it possible to easily capture remotely-sensed imagery every day through dozens or even hundreds of satellites on a relatively small budget. This study aimed to detect changed areas and update a land cover map using a PlanetScope image. To generate a classification map, pixel-based Random Forest (RF) classification was performed by using additional features, such as the Normalized Difference Water Index (NDWI) and the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI). The classification result was converted to vector data and compared with the existing land cover map to estimate the changed area. To estimate the accuracy and trends of the changed area, the quantitative quality of the supervised classification result using the PlanetScope image was evaluated first. In addition, the patterns of the changed area that corresponded to the classification result were analyzed using the PlanetScope satellite image. Experimental results found that the PlanetScope image can be used to effectively to detect changed areas on large-scale land cover maps, and supervised classification results can update the changed areas.

환경요인에 의한 주요 침엽수종의 지위지수 추정식 개발과 적지 평가 (Development of Site Index Equations and Assessment of Productive Areas Based on Environmental Factors for Major Coniferous Tree Species)

  • 본 연구는 환경인자를 이용하여 우리나라에 분포하는 주요 침엽수종(중부지방소나무, 강원지방소나무, 낙엽송, 잣나무)의 지위지수 추정식을 개발하고 적지면적을 추정하기 위해 수행하였다. 이를 위해 산림입지도와 산림기후도로부터 산림생산력에 영향을 미칠 것으로 판단되는 43개 환경인자를 도출한 후, 최적 조합에 의해 수종별 지위지수 추정식을 조제하였다. 최종 수종별 지위지수 추정식에는 각각 6개의 환경인자가 독립변수로 사용되었으며, 경사형태, 유효 토심, 연 평균기온, 연 최고기온, 연 최저기온, 그리고 생장기간 동안의 총강수량 등의 변수가 지위지수 추정에 가장 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 수종별 지위지수 추정식의 설명력을 나타내는 결정계수는 0.36~0.56의 범위에 있는 것으로 분석되었으며, 모형의 평균편의, 정도, 표준오차의 3가지 평가통계량에 근거하여 검증을 실시한 결과 비교적 지위 추정능력이 높은 것으로 판명되었다. 또한 본 연구에서는 수종별 지위지수 추정식을 이용하여 각 수종의 적지면적을 산출하고 적지분포를 도해하였다.

환경요인을 이용한 생태권역별 상수리나무의 적지판정 (Assessment of Productive Areas for Quercus acutissima by Ecoprovince in Korea Using Environmental Factors)

  • 본 연구는 환경인자를 이용하여 우리나라에 생태권역별로 분포하는 상수리나무의 지위지수 추정식을 개발하고 적지면적 및 분포를 추정하기 위해 수행하였다. 이를 위해 산림입지도와 전자기후도로부터 산림생산력에 영향을 미칠 것으로 판단되는 19개의 기후변수를 포함한 총 48개 환경인자를 도출한 후, 최적 조합에 의해 지위지수 추정식을 개발하였다. 최종 생태권역별 상수리나무의 지위지수 추정식에는 각각 4~6개의 환경인자가 독립변수로 사용 되었고, 지위지수 추정식의 설명력을 나타내는 결정계수는 0.30~0.41의 범위에 있는 것으로 분석되었다. 또한 모형의 평균편의, 정도(精度), 표준오차의 3가지 평가통계량을 이용하여 검증을 실시한 결과 비교적 지위 추정능력이 높은 것으로 판명되었다. 본 연구에서는 이와 같이 개발된 생태권역별 상수리나무의 지위지수 추정식을 이용하여 적지면적을 산출하고 적지분포를 도해하였다.
