  • In current seismic design practice, the response modification factor (R-factor) is used as a factor to reduce the elastic base shear demand to the design force level. As is well-known, the R-factor is a committee-consensus factor and, as such, highly qualitative and empirical. The relationship between the R-factor and the connection rotation capacity available in a particular structural system has remained a missing link. In this paper, a rational procedure to evaluate the R-factor is proposed. To this end, the relationship between the available connection rotation capacity and the R-factor is defined and quantified using nonlinear pushover analysis. An RRS steel frame designed according to IBC 2000 was used to illustrate and verify the proposed procedure. Nonlinear time history analysis results indicated that the R-factor definition proposed in this study is generally conservative from design perspective.

  • In the contemporary society that changes radically, the problems of Juvenile Delinquency shows a tendency to become out-rageous. Organized, intellectual and lower-aged qualitatively together with its qualitative increase to the extent that it may exceed adult crimes, and it is the circumstances that it emerges as an important social problem. Juvenile Delinqurncy is developing into one of the most pressing and critical issues. But, there is no explicit maesure in any country. Above all, Juvenile Delinqurnce is resultd from various factor. For example, personality, family relation, social and environmental problem.

  • The purpose of this study is to determine the optimal gas turbine system for special purpose ships. First we generate critical evaluation criteria an construct their hierarchical structure. The criteria consist of qualitative ones as well as the economic factor. Then AHP is applied to solve the decision making problem AHP gibes good results different from those only by the economic evaluation methods. And during the analysis, the procedure produces many useful informations to the decision making. The results shows that AHP is an appropriate method for these kinds of problems such as the system selection.

  • This study aims at discovering the reasons why some customers do not want a relationship. In line with this observation, this paper explores customers' future relationship intentions according to the reasons identified. Based upon a qualitative methodology by way of in depth interviews, we have identified seven factors (e.g., passive loyalty, negative experience, relevance, negative indifference, positive indifference, and emotional value) that lead a consumer not wanting to maintain an ongoing relationship with a company. In Study 2, the author attempts to reveal the effects of each factor over time. The findings show that psychological motivations are useful in improving CRM performance.

  • This study presents the intellectual capital (IC) indicator selection criteria based on the review of qualitative characteristics of financial accounting information and data quality of information systems. The AHP survey has been performed to verify the weight difference of the criteria to select effective IC indicators among industry. The results shows that there exists the weight differences in relevance and comparability factor by industry. To management IC effectively, different method considering industry environment should be required.

  • This study was a case about improvement and system of management in park of Japan. Technique of Maintenance make a rapid progress. In the other hand, management was fall behind. Because of, its was not accept change of consciousness and variety of social factor. That is, not make clearly system of administration(organization, budget, etc.) for qualitative improvement of park. Besides, not make accumulation data of management and technique of maintenance. In future, need many study about system of management.

  • The uncertainty assessment is important to improve the reliability of emission inventory data. The DARS (Data Attribute Rating System) have recommended as the uncertainty assessment technic of emission inventory by U.S. EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) EIIP (Emission Inventory Improvement Program). The DARS score is based on the perceived quality of the emission factor and activity data. Scores are assigned to four attributes; measurement/method, source specificity, spatial congruity and temporal congruity. The resulting emission factor and activity rate scores are combined to arrive at an overall confidence rating for the inventory. So DARS is believed to be a useful tool and may provide more information about inventories than the usual qualitative grading procedures (e.g. A through E). In this study, the uncertainty assessment for 2009 CAPSS (Clean Air Policy Support System) emission inventory is conducted by DARS. According to the result of this uncertainty assessment, the uncertainty for fugitive dust emission data is higher than other sources, the uncertainty of emission factor for surface coating is the highest value, and the uncertainty of activity data for motor cycle is the highest value. Also it is analysed that the improvement of uncertainty for activity data is as much important as the improvement for emission factor to upgrade the reliability of CAPSS emission inventory.

  • The objective of this research is to validate the BRQ(Brand Relationship Quality) Construct perceived by fashion product consumers. In order to establish and verify the BRQ scale, qualitative survey and quantitative survey were conducted together. 1592 copies of questionnaire were distributed to women in their 20s to 40s living in Seoul and other metropolitan areas from Dec. 26, 2005 to Jan. 8, 2006, and 723 copies of them were used for statistical data. Samplel(n=482)was used for empirical analysis, and sample2(n=241) was used for cross validity test. The data was analyzed using Exploratory Factor Analysis, Confirmatory Factor Analysis, and Pearson's Correlation Analysis. BRQ emerged from exploratory factor analysis as the hierarchical construct composed of six facets including 'self-connective attachment', 'symbol/mystery', 'trust', 'nostalgia', 'intimacy', and 'knowledge'. As the fit of this structural model was not good as a result of Confirmatory Factor Analysis, it was revised to have better fitting. Finally, empirical survey results indicate the hierarchical construct consisting of eight distinct BRQ facets including 'love/commitment', 'self-connection', 'symbol', 'mystery', 'trust', 'nostalgia', 'intimacy', and 'knowledge' as best representing the final 39item BRQ Scale. Reliability, construct validity, and cross validity of the construct were verified.

  • This paper focus on the analyzing objective bases for Proper assessment in Internet business mall. UP to now, assessment protocol of Internet business mall has been accomplished with financial factor, traffic factor and no quantitative factor respectively. But decision process of this malls value by one of these factors is not the best method. A new assessment model considering qualitative and quantitative factors is suggested and reviewed with existing model . As a result, a quantitative assessment protocol is appraised by a customer for the reason that this model includes not only comparative superiority between company but also weighting factor in assessment factors.

  • Scenario analysis for strategic planning, unlike most forecasting methods, provides a qualitative, contextual description of how the present will evolve into the future. It normally tries to identify a set of possible futures, each of whose occurrence is plausible but not assured. In this paper, we propose the use of Cross Impact Analysis(CIA) approach for scenario generation about the future of Korean IT environments. In this analysis, we classified IT environments into technical, social, legislative, and economic factor. And various variables and events were defined in each factor. From the survey collected from IT related experts, we acquire probability of occurrence and compatibility estimates of every possible pairs of events as input. Then 2 phase analysis is used in order to choice events with high probability of occurrence and generate scenario. Finally, after CIA using Monte Carlo simulation, a detail scenario for 2010 was developed. These scenario drawn from the CIA approach is a result considered by cross impacts of various events.
