  • Objective: This study proposes a methodology to analyze important variables that have a significant impact on the putting direction prediction using a machine learning-based putting direction prediction model trained with IMU sensor data. Method: Putting data were collected using an IMU sensor measuring 12 variables from 6 adult males in their 20s at K University who had no golf experience. The data was preprocessed so that it could be applied to machine learning, and a model was built using five machine learning algorithms. Finally, by comparing the performance of the built models, the model with the highest performance was selected as the proposed model, and then 12 variables of the IMU sensor were applied one by one to analyze important variables affecting the learning performance. Results: As a result of comparing the performance of five machine learning algorithms (K-NN, Naive Bayes, Decision Tree, Random Forest, and Light GBM), the prediction accuracy of the Light GBM-based prediction model was higher than that of other algorithms. Using the Light GBM algorithm, which had excellent performance, an experiment was performed to rank the importance of variables that affect the direction prediction of the model. Conclusion: Among the five machine learning algorithms, the algorithm that best predicts the putting direction was the Light GBM algorithm. When the model predicted the putting direction, the variable that had the greatest influence was the left-right inclination (Roll).

  • We investigated the effects of prolonged exposure in hot environmental condition and ingestion of fluid on various physiological variables including plasma glucose, lactate, the rating of perceived exertion (RPE), and heart rate as well as golf putting performance. Six male professional golfers were voluntarily participated in three different putting trials which were separated by seven days of time interval period. Three different putting trials were conducted at either 20℃ or 32℃, or 32℃ + Fluid ingestion. Performing 32℃ + Fluid ingestion trial, all subject ingested sport drink as much as their body mass was decreased. For each experiment, all subjects were undertaken total 48 putting, which separated by four x 12 putting in four different time points (i.e., Rest, 1 hr, 2 hr, and 3 hr). Plasma glucose concentration was significantly decreased with hot ambient condition but it was almost fully recovered by fluid ingestion. Plasma lactate concentration was significantly higher when subjects were exposed in hot environmental condition, and it did not change with fluid ingestion. There was a no different in putting performance and psychological fatigue level (performed by GRID test) at any environmental conditions. The RPE, commonly used for evaluating of physical fatigue level, was significantly dropped by fluid ingestion which indicates lower physical fatigue level. In addition to this, heart rate (HR) was also significantly decreased after fluid ingestion. Based on these results, it was concluded that the ingestion of fluid during prolonged exposure in hot ambient condition decrease the degree of physical fatigue levels and heart rate, which will possibly improve the golf performance when exposed in extreme weather condition in summer. • The purpose of this study was to compare the golf performance on transcranial direct current stimulation(tDCS). Ten collegiate golfers were participated. SAMPutt basic unit was used to analyze the kinematic data of putter head. A putting platform and a tDCS were used for putting tasks. It was performed paired t-test to compare between before tDCS and after tDCS. A significant level of .05 using SPSS 24.0. Face at aim and backswing variables of putter head were significantly different during flat putting. Impact spot of putter head was significantly different during 2° of hook slope. However, there were not significantly different others slope angle. It was found that transcranial direct current stimulation had a positive effect on kinematic variables. Based on these results, further research is needed to confirm the effect of transcranial direct current stimulation on body stability during putting task.

  • Physical and chemical properties of root zone mixes and methods of green construction are important considerations for improving turf grass quality for putting greens. This study compared Penncross creeping bentgrass (Agrostis palustris Huds.) performance as affected by three root zone construction systems with three amendments (sand, peat, and zeolite). The objective of this study was to determine if an amended California construction system would improve green performance during establishment (1998-1999) and maturation (2000-2001). Three treatments were tested: California ($100\%$ sand), USGA($90\%$ sand and $10\%$ peat, v/v), and California-Z ($85\%$ sand and $15\%$ zeolite, v/v). Treatments were arranged in a randomized complete block with four replicates. Physical and chemical properties of the root zone and bentgrass performance were compared for the treatments. The California-Z treatment had the highest saturated hydraulic conductivity, field infiltration rate and the lowest bulk density. It also had the highest cation exchange capacity and plant available nutrient concentrations among the three treatments. The California-Z treatment produced bentgrass quality and color during green establishment and maturation that were equal to or higher than the California treatment, and consistently higher than the USGA treatment. The addition of an inorganic amendment to the California system improved physical and chemical properties of the root zone and improved quality and color of bentgrass during green establishment. During green maturation, creeping bentgrass in the California-Z treatment was equal (6 of 15 sampling dates) or $20\%$ higher (9 of 15 dates) in quality compared to the California system.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify critical parameters of a putting performance using jerk cost function. Jerk is the time rate of change of acceleration and it has been suggested that a skilled performance is characterized by decreased jerk magnitude. Four elite golfers($handicap{\leq}2$) and 4 novice golfers participated in this study for the comparison. The 3D kinematic data were collected for each subject performing 5 trials of putts for each of these distances (random order): 1m, 3m, 5m The putting stroke was divided into 3 phases such as back swing. down swing and follow-through. In this study, it was assumed that there exist smoothness difference between elite and novice golfers during putting. The distance and jerk-cost function of Putting stroke for each phase were analyzed Results showed that there was a significant difference in jerk cost function at putter toe (at media-lateral direction) and at the center of mass between two groups by increasing putting distance. From these it could be concluded that jerk can be used as a kinematic parameter for distinguishing elite and novice golfers.

  • This studies was carried out to estimate the influence of mowing height, time lapse, rolling, and dew removal on green speed of putting green in Lake Side C. C. on 29, 30 Jun. 1998. The results were as follows. As mowing height increased, green speed tended to be decreased. After mowing, green speed tended to be decreased over the time, and appeared to be decrease significantly on the next day[Y=3.206-0.127.X1-1.41$\times$10-2.X4(Y=green speed, X1=mowing height, X4=time lapse)]. This suggests that the frequency of mowing must be increased to maintain the green speed. But, frequent mowing cause the turfgrass of putting green to be stressed. Rolling tended to increase green speed[Y=3.555-0.202.X1+0.111.X2(Y=green speed, X1=mowing height, X2=rolling)]. Thus, rollers is thought to be an tool used to increase green speed and rolling is expected to be able to decrease turfgrass stress while maintaining the performance level of the putting green. Dew removal appeared to increase green speed significantly[Y=2.499-0.125.X1+0.366.X3(Y=green speed, X1=mowing height, X3=dew removal)]. Thus, dew removal is expected to maintain the green speed in the morning.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the impact accuracy and kinematic parameters of skill level and eye-tracking type during putting strokes. For comparison, five elite golfers and five novice golfers participated in this study. Three-dimensional kinematic data were collected for each subject while 10 putting trials were performed for each skill level and eye-tracking type. The APAS system was used to compute the impact accuracy and kinematic parameters of putter heads. The putting stroke was divided into three phases: back swing, downswing, and follow-through. The findings indicated that significant differences were found in skill level as it affected the rate of success. For impact accuracy and the displacement of putter heads, a significant difference was found for the skill level, particularly in backs-wing and follow-through. In addition, the displacement of the putter head had a greater influence on stroke accuracy than on velocity.

  • This paper is a study on the development of an app that assists in putting alignment in golf. The proposed app measures the position and size of the hole cup on the green to provide the distance between the hole cup and the aiming point. To achieve this, artificial intelligence object recognition technology was applied in the development process. The app measures the position and size of the hole cup in real-time using object recognition technology on the camera image of the smartphone. The app then displays the distance between the aiming point and the hole cup on the camera image to assist in putting alignment. The proposed app was developed for iOS on the iPhone. Performance testing of the developed app showed that it could sufficiently recognize the hole cup in real-time and accurately display the distance to provide helpful information for putting alignment.

  • In this paper, a multi-purpose golf putting range finder based on an IR razer sensor and an inertial sensor was designed and made. It was designed to measure distance and slope within a 50m outdoor measurement range for the main purpose of golf putting distance measurement, and at the same time, it is designed to measure temperature information that affects putting. In addition, the distance meter supports house maintenance work by providing length and horizontality measurement values within the indoor 80m measurement range, and provides safety from indoor or vehicle fires by providing indoor temperature measurement values to mobile phones through linkage with the web server. In order to evaluate the accuracy of the proposed method and its interworking performance with a smartphone, a prototype was produced and a web server was built, and the usefulness was confirmed by showing an acceptable error rate within 5% in repeated experiments.

  • Today, fires are becoming so catastrophic and complicated due to the industrialization and diversification of energy sources that it is getting more difficult to define the survey items in order to find out the causes and processes of the fire. As an organization of prevention, vigilance and putting out of the fire, Fire Fighting authorities are ultimately pursuing the system of fire fighting administration to protect human lives and their properties through establishment and performance of fire prevention policy based on the fire-related statistics they have gathered and prevention of future fires of the kind which can promote the safety of structural space. Thus, to facilitate the fire detection, it can be said that good understanding of the tasks of both investigation and putting out of the fire as being two axes has the greatest significance. For this study, textbooks from the organization of fire fighting and police, which are designed for the literature study on the investigation and putting out of fire, are used and for the demonstrative study, the conclusions have been reached by the analyses of the 64 questionnaires of three parts which were divided by fire investigation and fighting for three hundred and six governmental employees engaging in the above fields.
