Among components of digital topographic maps used officially in Korea, only contours have 3D values except buildings and trees that are demanded in landscape planning. This study presented a series of processes for 3Dreconstructing landscape features such as terrain, buildings and standing trees using LiDAR (Light Detection And Ranging) data and aerial digital photo graphs. The 3D reconstructing processes contain 1) building terrain model, 2) delineating outline of landscape features, 3) extracting height values, and 4) shaping and coloring landscape features using aerial photograph and 3-D virtual data base. LiDAR data and aerial photograph was taken in November 2006 for $50km^{2}$ area in Sorak National Park located in eastern part of Korea. The average scanning density of LiDAR pulse was 1.32 points per square meter, and the aerial photograph with RGB bands has $0.35m{\times}0.35m$ spatial resolution. Using reconstructed 3D landscape features, visibility with the growing trees with time and at different viewpoints was analyzed. Visible area from viewpoint could be effectively estimated considering 3D information of landscape features. This process could be applied for landscape planning like building scale with the consideration of surrounding landscape features.

In this paper, the performance of the noncoherent code tracking loop designed at baseband for CDMA applications is analyzed in detail and is confirmed by computer simulations. Analytical closed-form formula for jitter variance is derived for AWGN channel environments as a function of pulse shaping filter, timing offset, signal-to-interference ratio, and loop filter coefficients. The design issue of the loop filter is also addressed with emphasis on the second-order tracking loop. Finally, the performance of the designed tracking loop is examined by computer simulations for both AWGN and Rayleigh fading channels, when applied to the reverse link of the coherent CDMA system for IMT-2000 designed by ETRI.

Dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry (DXA) is the noninvasive method to diagnose osteoporosis disease characterized by low bone mass and deterioration of bone tissue. Many global companies and research groups have developed the various DXA detectors using a direct photon-counting detector such as a cadmium zinc telluride (CZT) sensor. However, this approach using CZT sensor has some drawback such as the limitation of scalability by high cost and the loss of efficiency due to the requirement of a thin detector. In this study, a SiPM based DXA system was developed and its performance evaluated experimentally. The DXA detector was composed of a SiPM sensor coupled with a single LYSO scintillation crystal (3 × 3 × 2 ㎣). The prototype DXA detector was mounted on the dedicated front-end circuit consisting of a voltage-sensitive preamplifier, pulse shaping amplifier and constant fraction discriminator (CFD) circuit. The SiPM based DXA detector showed the 34% (at 59 keV) energy resolution with good BMD accuracy. The proposed SiPM based DXA detector showed the performance comparable to the conventional DXA detector based on CZT.
This paper presents a 1.6[kW]class single phase high power factor(HPF) pulse width modulation(PWM) boost rectifier featuring soft commutation of the active switches at zero current. It incorporates the most desirable properties of conventional PWM and soft switching resonant techniques. The input current shaping is achieved with average current mode control and continuous inductor current mode. This new PWM converter provides zero current turn on and turn off of the active switches, and it is suitable for high power applications employing insulated gate bipolar transistors(IGBT'S). The principle of operation, the theoretical analysis, a design example, and experimental results from laboratory prototype rated at 1.6[kW] with 400[Vdc] output voltage are presented. The measured efficiency and the power factor were 96.2[%] and 0.99[%], respectively, with an input current Total Harmonic Distortion(THD) equal to 3.94[%], for an input voltage with THD equal to 3.8[%], at rated load.

The purpose of this study is to design and analyze the pre-modulation filter with the variable -3dB cutoff frequency and linear phase response for bandlimiting the allocation of radio frequency bandwidth in PCM/FM transmission system. For the implementation of this required filter, the digital FIR filter, DAC and variable 2nd order LPF have been constructed with the filter block which designed and analyzed by each stage in order to satisfy the attenuation characteristic requirement of the analog 7th order bessel filter. The paper also concerned the linear phase properties for the filter block. Especially we have carried out the linear phase simulation with real parts for variable 2nd order LPF and compared this simulation results with the one of the fixed bandwidth 2nd order bessel filter for validating the linear phase requirement.
In this study, we estimated the dynamic tensile strength and strain rate from Brazilian tensile test using Split Hopkinson Pressure Bar (SHPB) system. A pulse shaping technique, which controls the shape of the impactinduce incident waves, was used for achieving the dynamic stress equilibrium and constant strain rate before fracture of rock samples. Three kinds of rock type, Inada granite, Kimachi sandstone and Tage tuff were prepared as 50mm in diameter and 26 mm in thickness. The high-speed videography system was used to observe the fracture processes of the rock samples. As the results of the tests, the ratio of dynamic tensile strength and static tensile strength was 11.9 for Inada granite, 8.5 for Kimachi sandstone and 9.2 for Tage tuff.

Owing to the advances in ADC and DSP technologies, signals in If band, which once had to be processed in analog technology, can new be digitally processed. This is referred to as "Digital IF" or "Digital Radio", which is a preliminary stage of SDR. Applying the digital radio technology to a multi-carrier receiver design, a processing gain is generated through an over-sampling of input data. In the digital receiver, decimation is performed for reducing the computational complexity CIC and half band filter is used together with the decimation as an anti-alising filter. The CIC filter, however, should introduce the roll-off phenomenon in the passband, which causes the receiving performance to be considerably degraded due to the distorted Passband flatness of receiving filter. In this paper, we designed a CIC roll-off compensation filter for W-CDMA digital receiver. The performance of the proposed compensation filter is confirmed through computer simulations in such a way that the BER is minimized by compensating the roll-off characteristics.off characteristics.

The SC-FDMA(single carrier-frequency division multiple access) was recently adopted as the uplink multiple access scheme from 3GPP LTE(3rd Generation Partnership Project Long Tenn Evolution) due to its low PAPR (Peak-to-averaged power ratio). The bandwidth of IFDMA(interleaved FDMA), one of the sub-carrier mapping methods of SC-FDMA, gets narrower as the roll-off factor of RRC(root raised cosine) filter decreases from 1 to 0, whereas its PAPR can increase significantly. In practice, to increase the power efficiency of an amplifier, signals with high PAPR undergo the process of clipping. Clipping of signals may cause regeneration of high-frequency components as well as distortion of signals. The current paper deals with the effect of clipping on the spectrum and BER of IFDMA signals with RRC filters.
In this paper, the characteristics of therapy radiation diode sensors have been studied by using therapy radiation from the MM22 microtron accelerator. The linearity, reproducibility and error ratio were measured for feasibility as a radiation detector. Energy dependence, sensitivity change after a amount of irradiation and output value according to a number of diodes were also measured for same purpose. We have formed pulse shaping of diode signal with nuclear instruments for portal image reconstruction. The percent depth dose ratio according to field size and depth was compared with that of the detector of a ion chamber. Using thirteen silicon diodes, we can directly read diode outputs on a computer monitor after A/D conversion with 16 channels analog to digital conversion board with 12 bit resolution. The possibility for portal image with diodes has been suggested from output comparison between output value with a human phantom and that without a human phantom.

In this paper, we propose a wireless transmission scheme that maximizes transmission efficiency per frequency bandwidth in a single carrier modulation scheme. The proposed scheme employs a decision directed channel tracking technique to remove both pilot signal and the guard interval signal between symbols in frames. It performs a raised cosine pulse shaping function with an roll-off factor of 0.05. In addition, 2×2 multiple input and multiple output using two polarized antennas is applied and both equalization and signal separation are performed in the frequency domain. The wireless modem with this technology confirms that the transmission speed of up to 63.3Mbps is achieved under the 5MHz frequency bandwidth
