  • Among the resource provisioning mechanisms for the hose based Virtual Private Network (VPN) Quality of Service (QoS ), VPN-specific state provisioning allows the service provider to obtain highest resource multiplexing gains. However, dynamic and automatic resource reservation for the VPN-specific state provisioning is difficult due to the lack of appropriate resource reservation protocol. Furthermore, users of a VPN may experience unfair usage of resources among themselves since the reserved resources of a VPN are shared by the VPN users in a similar way that the traditional LAN bandwidth is shared by the attached hosts. In this paper, we propose a resource reservation protocol and a traffic service mechanism, which not only enable dynamic and automatic resource reservation according to the VPN-specific state provisioning algorithm, but also enforce the fair usage of reserved resources among the users of a VPN in case of congestion.

  • Recently, there has been a dramatic increase in data traffic, driven primarily by the explosive growth of the Internet. Optical networking is believed as a key solution to keep up with the growth, thus, the most pressing issue is how to manage and control large optical networks. Currently, provisioning end-to-end connections across the transport network has involved the network operator, leading to long provisioning times in an era when customers are demanding shorter provisioning time. To address this critical issue, new control intelligence is being studied for use within optical networks to shorten provisioning time. Both the IETF and the ITU-T have been aggressively defining many aspects of a control plane for the next generation convergence transport network. Basically, they are based on the distributed control scheme. In this Paper, we suey the applicability of the centralized control scheme for the provisioning control of optical transport network to utilize its inherent advantages over the distributed control scheme. We discuss new central control architecture, and control procedure. Also, we examine the applicability of the existing IETF routing and signaling protocols to the new control concepts, and then, we propose the additional routing and signaling information elements.

  • Ubiquitous computing environment, as a new paradigm of the digital information era, has been introduced to respond to rapid changes in society and culture. Today, technology research around the world competes for the preoccupancy of the core technology as well as the development of technology for providing context aware system more intelligent, more sophisticated. Research in recent is underway the implementation of intelligent provisioning system using the ontology. Erstwhile provisioning system did not providing a personalized service that provides the service after context aware. Accordingly, there is a need for studies of intelligent context aware provisioning technique considering environments and context necessary to user. In this paper, in order to provide a service that is optimized for the needs of the user, propose an ontology-based intelligent provisioning service method taking into account the usage patterns and the context of the user. The proposed system is recognized the status of the user and demonstrated a process of reasoning techniques for fit service. And it is possible to the expansion of intelligence.

  • Cloud service is one of major technologies in modern IT business. Due to the dynamics of user demands, service providers need VM(Virtual Machine) provisioning mechanism to predict the amount of resources demanded by cloud users for the next service and to prepare the resources. VM provisioning provides the QoS to cloud user and maximize the revenue of a service provider by minimizing the expense. In this paper, we propose a new VM provisioning technique to minimize the total expense of a service provider by minimizing the expected value of the expense based on the predicted demands of users. To evaluate the effectiveness of our prediction technique, we compare the total expense of our technique with these of the other prediction techniques with a series of real trace data.

  • Cloud computing is one of the distributed computing environments and utilizes several computing resources. Cloud environment uses a virtual machine to process a requested job. To balance a workload and process a job rapidly, cloud environment uses a provisioning technique and assigns a task with a status of virtual machine. However, a scheduling method for cloud computing requires a definition of virtual machine availabilities, which have an obscure meaning. In this paper, we propose Fuzzy logic driven Virtual machine Provisioning scheduling using Resource Evaluation(FVPRE). FVPRE analyzes a state of every virtual machine and actualizes a value of resource availability. Thus FVPRE provides an efficient provisioning scheduling with a precise evaluation of resource availability. FVPRE shows a high throughput and utilization for job processing on cloud environments.

  • Recently, resource optimization research has been actively conducted in enterprises and data centers to manage the rapid growth of big data. In particular, thin provisioning, which allocates a large number of resources compared to fixedly allocated storage resources, has the effect of reducing initial costs, but as the number of resources actually used increases, the cost effectiveness decreases and the management cost for allocating resources increases. In this paper, we propose a technique that divides the physical blocks of flash memory into single-bit cells and multi-bit cells, formats them with a hybrid technique, and manages them by dividing frequently used hot data and infrequently used cold data. The proposed technique has the advantage that the physical and allocated resources are the same, such as thick provisioning, and can be used without additional cost increase, and the underutilized resources can be managed in multi-bit cell blocks, such as thin provisioning, which can allocate more resources than typical storage devices. Finally, we estimated the resource optimization effectiveness of the proposed technique through experiments based on simulations.

  • In this paper, we propose an advanced QoS provisioning scheme (AQPS) that can provide satisfied QoS for multimedia applicatios based on accurate traffic measurements. We first consider the 1xEV-DV system as a target system, extract QoS requirements or the system, and then develop a corresponding QoS provisioning method using CDMA traffic measurement. The AQPS has been verified to outperform the existing system used in the current 1xEV-DV network and to efficiently manage network resources by computer simulations.

  • Vehicular Adhoc Networks (VANET), a Vehicle-to-Infrastucture or Vehicle-to-Vehicle communication technology, is an area that makes more specific use of Mobile Adhoc Networks(MANET). VANET's Quality of Service(QoS) focuses on preventing possible emergencies like car crash from happening by immediately transmitting information to the cars around, while MANET's QoS is being studied for the quality of multimedia data such as Video on Demand(VoD), Video streaming, Voice over IP(VoIP), etc. In this paper, I structure the actual network configuration using Link State Routing(LSR), implement QoS Provisioning Model using Common Open Policy Service(COPS), and suggest more effective k-hop Cluster and inter-domain policy negotiation which fit better to the characteristics of VANET.

  • In this paper, we propose a dynamic bandwidth provisioning method based on traffic forecasting in IEEE 802.16e packet core network. The traffic is categorized as 4-different classes and the traffic amount of each class is forecasted by the Box-Jenkins method. To increase the service provider's revenue we provision the bandwidth of 4-different classes dynamically using greedy algorithm. The simulation results show that the number of packet drops is reduced and the level of QoS is improved compared with two different the methods - no priority considering and static provisioning.

  • Cloud provides dynamically scalable virtualized computing resources as a service over the Internet. To achieve higher resource utilization over virtualization technology, an optimized strategy that deploys virtual machines on physical machines is needed. That is, the total number of active physical host nodes should be dynamically changed to correspond to their resource usage rate, thereby maintaining optimum utilization of physical machines. In this paper, we propose a pattern-based prediction model for resource provisioning which facilitates best possible resource preparation by analyzing the resource utilization and deriving resource usage patterns. The focus of our work is on predicting future resource requests by optimized dynamic resource management strategy that is applied to a virtualized data center in a Cloud computing environment. To this end, we build a prediction model that is based on user request patterns and make a prediction of system behavior for the near future. As a result, this model can save time for predicting the needed resource amount and reduce the possibility of resource overuse. In addition, we studied the performance of our proposed model comparing with conventional resource provisioning models under various Cloud execution conditions. The experimental results showed that our pattern-based prediction model gives significant benefits over conventional models.
