The purpose of this case study was to introduce a myoelectric hand prosthesis for upper extremity amputee and prosthetic training program. Limb loss can result from disease, injury, or congenital causes. Trauma has been increasingly important role as the cause of amputaion in young, vigorous, and otherwise healthy individuals. The higher the level of amputation the greater the functional loss of the part, and the more the amputee must depend on the prostheis for fuction and cosmesis. Myoelectrical control of prostheses is a recent development and has been steadily gaining in clinical use over the past 20 years. Such a prosthesis uses signals from muscle contraction within the stump to activate a battery driven moter that operates specific component fuctions of the prosthesis. This twenty years old male case was operated a right above-elbow amputation due to tracffic accident and admitted to Yonsei Rehabilitaion hospital for the preprosthetic and prosthetic training. The case was able to successfully complete his myoelectric hand prosthesis training in the February of 1995.

This case study is aimed at introducing a full-mouth rehabilitation of a patient with severe tooth wear using fixed prosthesis. This is a case report of a patient with severe wear dentition with changing vertical dimension. In line with using prosthetic treatment, patient adaptation was verified with provisional restorations followed by diagnostic wax-up. Function, esthetics, and occlusal stability were verified during a 4-week follow up period. Prosthodontic reconstruction based on systemic analysis, diagnosis, and treatment plan led to satisfactory results after delivery of definitive prosthesis. Prosthetic treatment of severe wear dentition was functionally and esthetically successful. Dentists and dental technicians would be able to develop better treatment approaches using fixed dental prosthesis.

수술로 인한 상악골 결손 환자는 저작, 발음, 연하의 기능적 손상과 안모 변형으로 인한 어려움을 겪게 된다. 보철 치료의 목적은 폐쇄 장치를 통해 가능한 한 정상적인 기능과 안모를 회복하는 것이다. 이러한 목표는 재건에 대한 보철과 의사와 외과 의사의 술 전 의사소통을 통해 성취할 수 있다. 본 증례에서는 우측 상악동에 편평상피암 진단을 받은 환자에서 수술 전 치과 검진을 통해 보철적 재건에 대한 계획을 수립하였다. 상악골 절제술 4개월 후 수술용 폐쇄장치, 이행 폐쇄장치를 거쳐 최종 폐쇄장치를 제작하였다. 이를 통해 환자는 저작, 발음, 연하, 안모의 만족스러운 개선을 얻었기에 보고하고자 한다.

상악골 결손을 갖고 있는 무치악 환자를 폐쇄장치로 수복할 때 임상가들은 많은 어려움을 겪게 된다. 결손부를 통한 공기의 누출, 안정성과 지지의 부족, 감소된 의치 피개 면적은 의치의 흡착과 변연 폐쇄를 어렵게 한다. 본 증례는 편평상피암에 이환된 우측 상악동 부위에 상악골 절제술을 받은 무치악 환자로 술전 치과 검진, 수술용 폐쇄장치, 이행 폐쇄장치, 그리고 최종 폐쇄장치에 이르는 단계적 치료 과정을 통해 보철적 재건을 완료하였다. 본 증례의 환자는 전상악골 및 양측 상악 결절이 온전하며 한정된 크기의 결손부를 가져 적절한 유지와 지지를 갖는 폐쇄장치를 제작할 수 있었으며 심미 및 기능면에서 양호한 예후를 보였기에 이를 보고하는 바이다.

In this paper, the control of a prosthetic arm using the flex sensor signal is described. The flex sensors are attached to the biceps and triceps brchii muscle. The signals are passed a differential amplifier and noise filter. And then the signals are converted to digital data by PCI 6036E ADC. From the data, position and velocity of arm joint are obtained. Also motion of the forearm - flexion and extension, the pronation and supination are abstracted from the data by proposed algorithm. A two D.O.F arm with RC servo-motor is designed for experiment. The arm length is 200 mm, weight is 4.5 N. The rotation angle of elbow joint is $120^{\circ}$. Also the rotation angle of the wrist is $180^{\circ}$. Through the experiment, we verified the possibility of the prosthetic arm control using the flex sensor signal. We will try to improve the control accuracy of the prosthetic arm continuously.

In difficult case of mouth rehabilitation by making the fixed bridge, we obtained the satisfied results by reconstructing of partial dentures with telescopic system and ASC(52) attachments instead of clasped partial dentures.

Before the advent of early plastic or maxillofacial reconstructive surgery, facial features could only be replaced and mimicked by prosthetic, artificial means. Facial deformity or dysfunction, whether congenital or acquired by trauma or mutilating disease, has long been an area of constant research, development and innovation in many cultures of the world. One of the greatest contributors to the need for maxillofacial prosthetics has been physical conflict and warfare. The use of maxillofacial prostheses is not merely the replacement of a missing or disfigured aspect of the face, but the rehabilitation of that individual back into the society from which they originate. Rehabilitation includes the restoration of the person's self worth and confidence, not just physically but psychologically. In sixteenth century, Ambroise Pare, French military surgeon, first have tried many maxillofacial prosthetics for injured war soldiers with papier-mache, silver, gold and copper. According to patient's demand who lost their maxillofacial figures, maxillofacial personnel have increased and prosthetic's skill have been advanced all of the world. Over the last decade, there has been a very rapid development in technical possibilities to provide patients with facial prostheses retained by skin penetrating implants. This article will present overall history of maxillofacial prostheses and some background information on the materials used from the old world. And to overcome still many limitation of prosthetic, new minds and new ideas for technique and materials should be developed.

Dental clinicians often encounter cases wherein the patient's lost molar area was neglected and left untreated for an extended period of time, thereby causing the extrusion of opposite molars and occlusal disharmony as well as occlusion in the anterior teeth and consequently resulting in anterior displacement in the area. Clinicians normally carry out prosthetic treatment via occlusal plane lifting when such becomes absolutely necessary due to the lack of sufficient space needed for prosthetic therapy aimed at proper anterior and lateral induction. In this case report, we examined occlusal disharmony and VDO loss in a patient who had lost his molars and had not received prosthetic treatment for an extended period of time. We treated the maxillary area with dental implant prosthetics and Kennedy Class I RPD and the mandibular area with residual natural tooth-based implant placement and dental implant prosthetics. The patient reported treatment outcomes that were deemed satisfactory both functionally and aesthetically.
