This paper develops a method of modifying the usual maximum likelihood estimators of the parameters of a two state Markov process when the trajectory of the process can only he observed at regular epochs. The method utilizes the limiting behaviors of the process and the properties of state transition counts. An efficient adaptive strategy to be used together with the modified estimator is also proposed. The properties of the new estimators and the adaptive strategy are investigated using Monte Carlo simulation.

Based on single-vendor single-buyer integrated production-inventory problem, a model considering freight costs discounts is suggested when the cargo capacity is constrained. With the cost function formulated, several properties of the model are derived and analyzed. An efficient algorithm to find solutions such as shipment lot size, number of shipments and number of full truckloads using properties derived is suggested. Numerical results are provided to illustrate the proposed solution procedures and to provide additional insights.

초등학교 수학에서 최근 대수적 사고의 중요성과 함께 수와 연산의 성질을 암묵적으로 다루기보다 그 자체로 의미 있게 탐구해야 한다는 필요성이 부각되어 왔다. 이러한 필요성을 바탕으로, 본 연구는 초등학교 3학년 학생들을 대상으로 곱셈 단원을 재구성하여 연산의 성질을 지도한 후, 이에 대한 학생들의 이해가 어떻게 신장되었는지 분석하는 데 초점을 두었다. 이를 위하여 3개의 학급 학생들이 본 연구에 참여하였으며, 곱셈의 연산 성질에 대한 사전·사후 검사를 실시하여 그 결과를 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 학생들은 대체로 곱셈의 결합법칙, 교환법칙, 분배법칙을 (두 자리 수)×(한 자리 수)의 맥락에서 적용하는 문항, (두 자리 수)×(두 자리 수)의 맥락에서도 연산 성질이 적용되는지 추론하는 문항에서 정답률이 향상되었으며, 일부 학생들은 연산 성질에 대해 일반화해서 설명하는 능력이 신장되었다. 이러한 결과를 토대로 초등학교 수학에서 연산 성질을 지도하는 방안과 관련한 시사점을 논의하였다.

This study is on a Boolean B or Boolean lattice L in abstract algebra with closed binary operation *, complement and distributive properties. Both Binary operations and logic properties dominate this set. A lattice sheds light on binary operations and other algebraic structures. In particular, the construction of the elements of this L set from idempotent elements, our definition of k-order idempotent has led to the expanded definition of the definition of the lattice theory. In addition, a lattice offers clever solutions to vital problems in life with the concept of logic. The restriction on a lattice is clearly also limit such applications. The flexibility of logical theories adds even more vitality to practices. This is the main theme of the study. Therefore, the properties of the set elements resulting from the binary operation force the logic theory. According to the new definition given, some properties, lemmas and theorems of the lattice theory are examined. Examples of different situations are given.

학교 교육과정의 초기 단계에서부터 대수를 가르쳐야 한다는 주장이 국제적인 공감을 얻으면서, 초등학교에서 적절한 대수 지도 방안을 찾는데 관심이 높아지고 있다. 그러나 초등학교에서 대수적 추론 능력을 향상시키기 위해 수학 수업이 어떻게 이루어져야 하는가에 관한 실제적인 연구는 여전히 부족한 상황이다. 본 연구는 초등학교에서의 효과적인 대수 교수-학습에 대한 구체적이고 실질적인 정보를 얻기 위해, 곱셈의 결합법칙 탐구를 강조한 4학년 수업 사례를 중심으로 탐구적 질적 사례 연구를 실시하였다. 체계적인 수업 분석을 통해 본 연구는, 구체적인 상황에서 수와 연산의 성질에 초점 맞추기, 충분한 사례 탐구를 통해 수와 연산의 성질 발견하기, 임의의 수 상황에서 연산의 성질 일반화하기의 세 단계에 따라 교사가 어떤 활동들을 구성할 수 있으며 학생들은 어느 정도의 대수적 추론을 발현할 수 있는지를 구체적인 사례를 통해 밝히고자 하였다.

초등학교 수학에서 등식은 덧셈식에서 등호를 기호와 말로 나타낼 때 용어에 대한 정의 없이 처음 제시된다. 대부분의 초등학교 학생들은 등식에서 나타나는 등호의 의미를 연산적으로 이해한다. 또한 교과서에서 연산의 성질이 암묵적으로 사용되어 학생들이 연산의 성질을 명확하게 이해할 수 있는 기회가 제한된다. 따라서 교과서에 특정한 수로 나타난 연산의 성질을 명시적으로 도입하는 것과 등호의 의미를 관계적으로 이해할 수 있는 다양한 맥락의 등식이 필요하다는 주장이 꾸준히 제기되어 왔다. 이에 본 연구에서는 초등학교 수학 교과서에 제시된 계산식을 등식으로 나타내어 암묵적으로 사용된 연산의 성질과 등호의 관계적 의미를 이해할 수 있는 방안을 학습자의 이해 수준에서 논의하고자 한다. 이와 더불어, 연산의 성질과 등호의 관계적 의미를 적용하여 효율적인 계산을 할 수 있는 구체적인 사례를 제시한다.

A vague graph is a generalized structure of a fuzzy graph that gives more precision, flexibility and compatibility to a system when compared with systems that are designed using fuzzy graphs. In this paper, we define two new operation on vague graphs namely normal product and tensor product and study about the degree of a vertex in vague graphs which are obtained from two given vague graphs G₁ and G₂ using the operations cartesian product, composition, tensor product and normal product. These operations are highly utilized by computer science, geometry, algebra, number theory and operation research. In addition to the existing operations these properties will also be helpful to study large vague graph as a combination of small, vague graphs and to derive its properties from those of the smaller ones.

In this paper, we define a concept of some set-theoretical operations of L-R type fuzzy numbers and discuss some properties of these concepts. Using these results, we discuss a concept of cardinality of type-two fuzzy sets.

In object analysis by image processing, finding lines plays a universal role. And these lines can be easily found by detecting ridges and valleys in digital gray scale images. In this paper, a new method of detecting ridges and valleys by using local min/max operations was presented. This method detects ridges and valleys of desired width by using erosion and dilation properties of local min/max operations, and requires no information of ridge or valley direction. Therefore the method is efficient and computationally simple in comparision with the conventional analytical method.

We study the optimal allocation of machines and pallets in a class of manufacturing systems. The FMS is modeled as a closed queueing network with balanced loading of the stations. An Algorithm is developed, which exploits the properties of the throughput function and solves the allocation problem for increasing concave profit and convex cost. We also study the more general case of allocating machines and pallets among a set of FMSs. A dynamic programming approach is developed, which solves the problem with O(M$^{3}$N$^{2}$) operations.
