  • The purposes of this study were to examine the financial statements and analyze the financial soundness of contract foodservice management companies(CFMC) using the financial ratio. The statistical data analysis was completed using Microsoft Excel(ver.2007) for the trend line equation and using SPSS Win(ver.18.0) for wilcoxon-rank sum test. Increased asset, debt, capital and sales occurred in most of the CFMCs, but the financial trend of firm D decreased for operating profit and net profit. The financial ratio for investigating a firm's financial soundness was based on liquidity, stability, profitability, activity, and growth through financial statements. Most of the CFMCs had maintained outstanding financial soundness from 1999 to 2011. The financial statements during the decade were verified and fluctuated. The directly affected CFMCs by a school foodservice' sanitation accident had maintained better financial statements than those of other CFMCs. Therefore, there was opportunity for directly affecting CFMCs involved in school foodservice' sanitation accident to diversify the business portfolio of the firms.

  • Purpose - It seems common sense that corporate social responsibility (CSR) is a key driver of business sustainability. Nevertheless, there has been little research on the performance of socially responsible activities, including economic and environmentally responsibility activities, in internationally diversified firms. Design/methodology - The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of CSR activities on management performance. For this evaluation, an empirical analysis was conducted with total of 2,520 cases, selected from companies listed on the Korea Composite Stock Price Index market for six years from 2013 to 2018. As proxies for management performance, financial data such as a total asset net profit ratio and a total asset operating ratio were used. A multivariate regression analysis was conducted to test hypotheses. Findings - The results of this analysis indicated that firms in the CSR outstanding group were ranked significantly higher than other groups in management performance. In addition, CSR activities of internationally diversified firms positively influenced the total asset net profit ratio and total asset operating ratio. Originality/value - The results suggest that the CSR activities of these firms can play a significant role in enhancing management performance in the economic status of Korea, where the degree of export dependency is high.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of architectural attributes on operating revenue by concentrating on the facility side and to investigate how much individual architectural factors can affect operating revenue. The time range of this study is limited to 2015, and the spatial range is limited to a tourist hotel in Seoul that can be easily surveyed and verified. The analysis method is to confirm the significance and influence of each attribute through regression analysis. According to the results, The room part such as number of rooms or area showed a relatively low correlation with "revenue per available room (Rev.PAR)" than "average daily rate (ADR)", but showed a high correlation with non - architectural attributes such as auxiliary facilities and chain. This shows that factors that influence the operating profit of hotel are not the part of the room but the other factors such as the auxiliary facilities work more. In addition, the presence of spa and the number of auxiliary facilities in the hotel have a positive effect on the operating profit of the hotel due to the non - architectural attributes. This is expected to provide a new direction for future research in studying hotel facilities.

This research focuses on the application of DSS models of what-if analysis (WIA) for CRM at (AOD) and also shows the dependence on the Information Success model (ISM). Hypothetical data are analyzed for (AOD) by three types of (WIA) to attain CRM and profit maximization and this analytical method can be used by any customer-oriented firm as a general model and for the purpose of the study we have compared the CRM between patients and hospital management.

  • Most of Korean broiler farms are constructed with vinyl houses. Such types of broiler farms might be cheaper in terms of cost, but poor in terms of environment condition. According to enlargement of broiler farm size, high value production systems or automatic facilities are introduced in this field. However, investment may not always guarantee the profit of the management. Therefore, it is necessary to undertake the investment analysis before decision making for the investment. Under the assumption that 870 Pyoung(≒$3.3㎡) of a broiler farm within 1,740 Pyoung(≒3.3㎡) of land is built with the producing capacity of 50,000 heads of chicken in a time. The total investment is calculated to be 600 million won(1,000 won≒$1.1), and out of them 58.1% is provided by the owner, 31.6% from the government loan, 5.8% from government subsidy, and 5.3% from other agencies or banks. The expected profit of the broiler farm is 64.6 million won(1,000 won≒$1.1) per year. The IRR calculated is 0.0808 which means that the rate to profit of this project would be 8.1%. This also means that for this investment the interest rate of the capital provided should be less than 8.1% per year. Considering that the current opportunity cost of the own capital is 8.5% this project is not so attractive for those who is going to build broiler farms mainly with their own capital. In other words this project would not be profitable, unless the average interest rate of the loans provided for this project is less than 8.1% per year.

  • This study estimated the influence of 'the separation of prescribing and dispensing roles' (SPD) policy, which implemented in July 2000, on the community pharmacies in Korea, by using data on the revenues and expenditures in the previous researches. We first assumed the rate of drug price differential was 20% with four different models which was based on various data of studies carried out in the similar period. Later, we applied different rates for the sensitivity analysis. According to the results, all community pharmacies made the net profit of 118.9 billion won (0.552 million won monthly per one pharmacy) after the SPD policy. The ratio of net profit to net sales dropped by 7.41%p from 22.19% to 14.78%. Additional sensitivity analysis indicated there were wide range of differences about whether net profit or net gain, and that extent which either existed.
