Development of integrated scheduling system for virtual manufacturing system

  • Virtual Manufacturing System(VMS) is an integrated computer based model which has physical, logical schema and behavior of real manufacturing system. In this paper, an integrated scheduling system is developed to simulate and control a Virtual Factory. A workflow model is constructed to define and analyze the structure of a VMS. On-line dynamic dispatching system is developed using MultiPass algorithm and scheduling system considering dynamic CAPP is carried out. Integrated scheduling system developed in this paper reduces the discrepancies between virtual model and real manufacturing system, and control of real shop floor is possible.

  • There have been many problems to apply SPC(Statistical Process Control) which is a traditional process control technology to the process of multi-product, small-sized production because a machine in the process manufactures small numbers, but various kinds of products. Therefore, we need the new process control system that can flexibly control the process by setting up the SPEC rules and the KNOWHOW rules. The SPEC rule contains the combination of diverse conditions to specify the characteristics of various products. The KNOWHOW rule is based on engineers' know-how. The study suggests the Rule-base Process Control that can be optimized to the multi-product, small-sized production. It was validated in the process of semiconductor production.

  • This study analyzes the new GMCF method applied by the company with the aim to find out how the production of Accounting Information Systems (AIS) implemented by the company can be managed properly. The study also seeks to find out whether the company needs new system support facilities to facilitate the production performance reporting process of each division and evaluate the performance of GMCF systems in the company. The methods used are descriptive analysis techniques and statistical tests of Paired Sample T-Test comparison; this study uses production data of each unit of a product with random sampling to determine the level of product damage and compare production with the GMCF system and prior to using it. The results of the analysis found that the application of goods mutation control forms (GMCF) greatly influenced the smooth production reporting process, which resulted in an increase in achieving production targets and reducing the risk of product damage during the production process. The company also benefits from the efficiency of production costs when using the GMCF system and can quickly design policies for products that are damaged during the production process. In addition, the company can have damaged products repaired faster than before.

  • For middle & small sized metal heat treatment companies in Korea, this paper is crucial to have a systematic way of collecting and storing field data, and extracting relevant information when necessary. Therefore, it is concerned with developing a metal heat treatment program system for production technique control which is mainly focused on processing heat treatment filed data, converting the data into meaningful production technique control information, and illustrating a case study of a middle & small sized company in Busan province. Consequently, we are implemented a production information system for metal heat treatment a middle & small sized type company.

  • An integrated operation method of production control system for chemical-product job-shops is presented in this paper. A possible application of real-time control system is suggested to handle data from laboratory materials requirements to finished product shipment. A low cost intra-net is constructed to be used as the system network and applications are developed using Visual Basic. CGI programming is done to interface the applications with necessary databases.

  • In this paper, the implementation of a production control system has been studied in order to obtain Realtime Cost Calculation using an exact Machine Factor and Man Factor based on RFID reader data transferred through network. For the study, microprocessor built in the controller of production facilities is used and also RFID reader is built additionally. Control part, card reader used for check the beginning and ending working time of workers, and Machine Factor and Man Factor calculated are transferred to server via PLC transmission port, serial transmission port, or Ethernet transmission port. By using the system, the production cost or the production efficiency is calculated exactly. Therefore it is possible to improve production rate and cost reduction by the use of the proposed production control system.

  • Recently, to improve operating efficiency with the higher in-line rate in automated production lines, a lot of cases of grouping machines and material handling system together to form a cluster has shown frequently. This article addresses the job allocation and operation method of automated material handling for cluster-type production systems. First of all, the control problems of the automated material handling systems are classified into the control problem of inter-cluster material handling system and that of intra-cluster material handling system. Then, a distributed agent-based control scheme is proposed for the former, and an operational control procedure for the latter. Simulation experiment shows that the proposed method is efficient in reducing cycle times and improving utilization of material handling vehicles.

  • The battery charge/discharge process, the final step of the secondary battery production process, requires real-time precision controls for improving both lifetime and performance of the battery cell. In this paper, we present embedded system design for precision control of the secondary battery charge/discharge production process using low power embedded processor based on embedded linux. This system receive charge/discharge command from the main server through ethernet. Compared to existing charge/discharge control system, our design makes low cost and precision control system possible.

  • In a complex production system, the efficient control of order entry-production schedule-shippment cycle is one of the most important managerial aspects. In this paper, an aggregate control mechanism has been developed. The result showed steps for improving and for optimizing the total systems efficiency. A simplified guidelines for a con ceptual data base has been suggested.

  • We study a multi-component production/inventory system in which individual components are made to meet various demand types. We assume that the demands arrive according to a Poisson process, but there is a fixed probability that a demand requests a particular kit of different components. Each component is produced by a flow line with several stations. The production of each component is operated by the CONWIP control mechanism. To analyse this system, we propose an approximation method based on aggregation method. In application of the aggregation method, a product-form approximation technique as well as a matrix-geometric method is used. Comparisons with simulation show that the approximation method provides fairly good results.
