  • Development of policy incentives and policy direction in the innovation economy is always important. Innovations policy have characterized industrial dynamics, leading to a transformation of the market structure of the specific industry. The paper explores the development of industry convergence for understanding the change of the wireless industry in Daejeon. Although its initial focus is R&D center, The business model has become the research and development of external demand than its own product research and development. For regional innovation, the wireless industry policy should be provided with their own product development pattern.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between online apparel impulse buying behavior and apparel website characteristics. The data were collected using an online survey with a structured questionnaire. To recruit participants, online surveys were collected and a total of 236 college students were used in the study. The results of factor analysis showed that website characteristics consisted of two factors (i.e., promotion, product/policy information). The results of MANOVA and multiple regression showed that the impulse purchase group evaluated the website where they bought the last apparel item significantly better in promotion and product/policy information than the non-impulse purchase group. Based on the results, H1, H2, and H3 were supported. The evaluations of the characteristics of websites where impulse purchases and non-impulse purchases of apparel products were made were significantly different.

  • As new types of medical devices are emerging through convergence with advanced technology, innovative technologies are becoming hot issues in health policy because of their disruptiveness. This study analyzed the innovative medical device management systems in the US, China and Korea. Innovative medical devices have been defined differently depending on the country's management system, but in common, they are defined as products that do not exist or have dramatically improved performance compare to existing products by applying innovative technologies. Innovative medical devices have been supported by regulatory authorities during product development and approval processes. While the US and China have more than 300 products designated as innovative medical devices with diverse functions, application fields, and manufacturing countries considering the initial situation of the implementation for the system, Korea has only 16 products, mainly radiology and diagnostic devices and made in Korea only as innovative medical device. In addition, Korea shows the highest market approval rate of innovative medical devices compare to the US and China, and it is necessary to prepare the approval process in consideration of product diversity.

  • Although Korean government has implemented size-dependent policy, so called "the designation of SMEs-suitable industry", promoting SMEs growth, our understanding in the effectiveness of the policy is limited. We investigate the effect of the policy on SMEs performance in food product and beverages industry, which accounts for the majority in the SMEs-suitable industry. From the perspective of sales, profitability, and R&D intensity, which is regarded as indigenous effort for growth, we find the heterogeneity in the effectiveness of the policy across the sub-sectors in the industry. However, overall the policy does not significantly contribute to the growth of sales, profitability, and facilitation of R&D activity for indigenous innovative efforts of SMEs. Our study advances the theoretical discussion on the effect of the policy with the disaggregated level of analysis, i.e, sub-sector level. Our findings also contribute to the resolution of social and political conflicts between pros and cons of the policy. Our study suggests that policy makers should develop more sophisticated policy that incorporate the specific characteristics of individual sub-sectors. They also need to invest more resources in enhancing the effectiveness of the policy and accelerating SMEs innovative efforts.

  • Estimating the economic life of a technology is the first important prerequisite step in the feasibility analysis of technology-based business. Many empirical studies have concentrated on patents data to estimate the time period for a technology. However, it is recommended to estimate it along with qualitative considerations of future technological and market conditions. In this regard, little is known about how approaches are applied. This paper aims to establish a structural framework of estimating the lifetime of a technology by integrating the outputs of an analysis of the determinants in each transition of a product life cycle. We describe an illustrative case about a light emitting diode (LED) backlight unit (BLU) technology for the liquid crystal display (LCD) TV. The framework allows valuators and experts to estimate a technology lifetime by using multidimensional factors.

  • At present, company has to produce a product that consumer like with a competitive price, a good quality, and a fitting time to supply. Process control and qualify control are very important to supply with a product uniformly and inexpensively In this paper, the characteristic of product quality is monitored by control chart during the machining process and construction of quality control cycle is considered to divide into two types in this case that different assignable causes lead to shifts having different magnitudes. Then we are intended to find a process shift magnitude which has economical quality cost policy and are considered to quality cost functions to find a process shift magnitude. Those costs are categorized into the well-known categories of prevention, appraisal, and internal failure and external failure. This paper ends with numerical examples that demonstrate the usefulness of the model.

  • To see the implication of trade policy in endogeneous growth model, we introduce trade protection that takes the form of an import tariff and represents one plus the rate of protection provided to industry sector. We showed that considering goodness of fit of regression model, we can see that the empirical evidence is strongly in favor of the character of trade policies as the instrument spurring economic growth. As for import tariff, we see that 1% increase in the rate of tariff that protect domestic market causes the rate of growth to increase by 0.87%. An import tariff to final product significantly spurs product development and faster growth come as a result. But, we should note that the effects of trade policy are muted by the induced changes in the output of intermediates in an economy that is relatively unproductive in the research lab.

  • PL law seeks consumers'just compensation and effective deterrence through shirting liability principle from negligence to strict liability. Impact analysis of Product Liability(PL) Low requires consumers' perspectives. This paper performed a policy delphi to predict the impact of PL law on consumers. The study surveyed the opinions of 30 specialists in PL area, ranging from government, officials, professors, researchers, consumer activists, to business executives, for three times. The consumer are as follows: first of all, PL law can contribute to damage compensation significantly in that it stimulates consumer complaints through non- court procedures. It is very unlikely that suits will be increased rapidly due to PL because of the current law environment. The degree of influence of PL law on damage compensation will very according to the content of PL law. Secondly, PL law can contribute to deterrence in that it encourages companies' efforts for product safety while it doesn't undermine consumers' attentions to safety. The influence on companies' efforts will vary according to the content of PL law.

  • Patent infringement is defined as implementing a whole patent product without authorization, which is called literal infringement. However, the alleged infringer sometimes does not directly produce the same product with the patented invention, but they simply replace some claimed elements with new materials, or they only produce a certain part of the patent product. Therefore, there is an issue on whether the above cases should also be deemed as patent infringement. This paper uses specific cases to analyze the formation and development process of the doctrine of equivalents and indirect infringement theory in Japan. Then, by discussing the interpretation of Article 101 of the current Japanese patent law, this paper makes it clear that whether it constitutes direct or indirect infringement in some particular cases. The objective of this paper is to clarify the specific requirements of patent infringement under Japanese patent law by case studying and comparing with the patent legal system of China.
