Purpose - People have long thought that disorderly space would influence their lives negatively. However, disorderly space may have positive impact such as increasing sales for new products for store managers. Borrowing the prior findings that disorderly space enhances creativity, we developed two hypotheses regarding space order, product newness, and new product adoption. We hypothesize that space order negatively influences new product adoption and that the proposed negative effect of space order on new product adoption is moderated by product newness. Research design, data, and methodology - We conducted a pre-test in China using 70 undergraduate students to test whether two newly developed cosmetic products were appropriate for the experimental stimuli. We confirmed that a fragrance patch concept, which is unavailable in the market, is a RNP (Really New Product), and an edible fragrance, which is available in the market, is an INP (Incrementally New Product). Next, we conducted a main experiment with a 2 (Space order: orderly vs. disorderly) × 2 (Product newness: RNP vs. INP) between-subjects design in China using 100 undergraduate students. Half of the participants answered questions on the disorderly desk and the other half answered questions on the orderly desk. Results - We obtained evidence from the main experiment that consumers' new product adoption is the function of space order and product newness. First, participants were more likely to adopt the RNP when they were in the disorderly space than in the orderly space. However, the effect of space order on new product adoption disappeared when the product was INP; the adoption rates for the INP did not differ between the participants who answered questions on the disorderly desk and the participants who did so on the orderly desk. Conclusions - Our findings are counter intuitive. Contrary to the conventional wisdom that neat and tidy space benefits store managers, the research demonstrated that disorderly space increases sales, providing fresh insights into store managers to manage their stores and shops to sell new products. In order to help store visitors understand the value of really new products, store managers will have to sacrifice space order to some extent.
Purpose - In the development of new products, suppliers involvement and developing products jointly can be said to be strategic activities that utilize the lack of knowledge from external organizations. In this new product development, supplier involvement has been proven to have a positive impact on new product development performance for a long time by previous research. However, sufficient academic research has not been conducted on the influence of supplier involvement in various product strategies or sales strategies that buyers make in order to secure a competitive advantage in the market. This study argues that product strategy and sales strategy used by buyers in the development of new products will control the effect of supplier involvement on new product development performance in order to compensate the lack of these academic aspects. Research design, data, and methodology - Specifically, we selected the modularization strategy of the product as the product strategy, which is considered as an important strategy in the new product development through the preceding research, and the mass customer satisfaction strategy was chosen as the sales strategy. In order to achieve these research objectives, regression analysis was conducted using data from manufacturing productivity panel collected jointly by the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Industry and the Korea Productivity Center. Results - As a result, supplier involvement and new product development performances (development cost efficiency, customer satisfaction) were positively related. The product modularity strategy proved to have an interactive effect on the relationship between supplier involvement and new product development performances (development cost efficiency, customer satisfaction). However, it has not been confirmed that there is a statistically significant interaction effect between supplier involvement and new product development performances. Conclusions - Supplier involvement has positive relationships with NPD performance. In addition, product modularity strategies have interaction effects with supplier involvement and affect new product development performance (development cost efficiency and customer satisfaction). The results of this study are of academic significance in the case of lack of empirical studies on the effect of supplier participation on the effect of buyer 's strategy when a supplier participates and develops new products jointly.

To obtain the relation in the electrochemical reduction of $CO_2$ in aqueous $KHCO_3$ colution between an activity for the product and the nature of Cu electrode, the electrode surface was characterized by using two methods: X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and photoelectron emission (PE) measurement. Electrolyses were performed with Cu electrodes pretreated in several ways. The distribution of the products changed drastically with electrolysis time and the pretreatment method. The features in XPS spectra were closely connected with the product distribution. The oxide film at the electrode surface was gradually reduced to bare Cu metal with electrolysis time, resulting in a variation of the product distribution. PE was measured by verying the wavelength of incident light at several temperatures. The dependence of PE on the measurement temperature changed greatly before and after electrolysis.
Purpose: This study aimed at exploring the product choice tendency differences between the consciousness and unconsciousness of goal orientation when product attributes is perceived to be compatible with the goal orientation. Research design, data and methodology: Empirical study used a 2 (goal conscious vs. unconscious) × 3 (hedonic vs. performance vs. reliability attribute) between-subjects design and one control group. To verify hypotheses, χ2-test was conducted to 320 questionnaire data answered by undergraduate students of Jiangxi Normal University in China. Results: First, consumers under unconscious condition showed a higher product choice consistency based on compatibility between hedonic (performance) attribute of the product and their hedonic (performance) promotion goal-orientation than those under the conscious condition. Second, product choice effects of compatibility between reliability attribute of the product and prevention goal orientation were not significantly different between consumers' consciousness and unconsciousness of their prevention goal orientation. Conclusions: Marketers of 'under dog' should try to develop and deliver the product attributes different from the attributes of 'top dog.' And the 'top dog' marketers should help their customers to avoid the conflicts by developing the environment of inducing their goal orientation unconsciously. Brand marketers should always pay attention to the reliability attributes concerned with the prevention goal orientation.
Purpose - This study analyzes effects of word of mouth intention of restaurant product via SNS on trust of products, purchase intention, and word of mouth intention targeting restaurant customers. Research design, data, and methodology - Targeting restaurant customers, 500 surveys were distributed in restaurants located in Seoul (where restaurants are clustered, such as Myeongdong, Dongdaemoon Station Shopping Center, and Sadangdong) between July 1st, 2016 and July 30th, 2016. Among those, 490 were collected, and 478 were used for analysis excluding those with no answer or insincere answers. Results - SNS word of mouth information characteristics had significant effects on trust of restaurant product in the order of vividness, neutrality, and timing. Trust on restaurant product has significant effect on perceived risks (-) and perceived benefits (+) by SNS. While perceived benefits of restaurant product on SNS has effect on purchase intention, perceived risks of restaurant product on SNS does not affect purchase intention. Perceived benefits of restaurant product on SNS has significant effect on word of mouth intention, whereas perceived risks of restaurant product on SNS does not have significant effect on word of mouth intention. Conclusions - As marketing through SNS can bring about a huge reduction effect in terms of marking cost, it can be utilized as an effective promotion by not only large restaurant corporations, but also small restaurants.
Purpose: The purpose of the current study is to examine the effects of labeling information on the consumers' evaluation, with a focus on the effects of the three types of labeling information on the product quality. Research design, data and methodology: This study conducted a survey of the women respondents living in Gyeonggi province, Korea, during the time period of April 20th through May 30th, 2020. The sample data have been used to run regression analysis, reliability analysis, frequency analysis and factor analysis. Results: The empirical results are summarized as follows: 1) the labeling information on the brand image has a significantly positive effect on the consumers' evaluation about product's functional quality; 2) the labeling information on the product characteristics has a significantly positive effect on the consumers' evaluation about the expressed quality; and 3) the labeling information on the brand image has a significantly positive effect on the consumers' evaluation about the perceived quality. Conclusions: The conclusion is that the labeling information on product characteristics and the brand image is estimated to be statistically significant, therefore the Korean outdoor-wear industry are required to upgrade the information on the brand image and the product characteristics.
Purpose: A good physical appearance greatly affects a person's self-confidence, especially when the media constantly depicts that beautiful men and women are those with perfect bodies, which later forms the perception that being fat or too thin is not attractive. That is in line with the increasing knowledge and the need for nutritious foods and drinks for diets. Therefore, this study aims to see whether there is a relationship between the Weight Rejuvenation Program Everyday product innovation towards millennial purchase decision and the motivation of having an ideal body as a moderating effect. Research design, data, and methodology: Distributed online Google form questionnaires to 96 audiences who commented on "Mute" web series. The respondents consisted of 63 women and 33 men from the millennial generation who lived in Greater Jakarta and were classified as the middle to upper economic class. After all of the data were collected, they were processed using Structural Equation Modeling Partial Least Squares. Results: Product innovation had a significant influence on the purchasing decisions of the millennial consumer, but motivation did not have the moderating function in the relationships between product innovation and purchase decision. Conclusions: The main factor for product innovation that can be accepted by millennials is the product quality that remains good.
Purpose - Many retail stores tend to use scarcity-laden message in order to influence consumers, where scarcity refers to insufficiency of product supply or time of availability. For example, inside stores, the displayed products are often accompanied by scarcity message such as 'exclusive offer, limited time only.' According to past research, scarcity has a positive effect on product evaluation, since scarcity can acts as a signal of consumer demand, and thus product quality. Prior studies argue that consumers face a scarce product, they logically infer that other consumers buying the product in large numbers cause the scarcity. We propose that scarcity can be interpreted as a sales tactic artificially created by retail stores in order to increase sales of product. Research design, data, and methodology - We use a persuasion knowledge perspective framework to develop our hypotheses. In the present research, we show that product curation type is a key variable that moderates consumer response to scarcity, and thus the scarcity effect on product evaluation. Results - In this research, we showed when scarcity-laden message was used inside the store using consumer-centric curation message, scarcity had a positive effect on product evaluation. In contrast, when scarcity-laden message was used inside the store using marketer-centric curation message, the positive of scarcity message on product evaluation was diluted. Conclusions - Our study makes two important contributions to the literature on consumer response to scarcity. First, we identify a variable - namely, product curation type - that determines when either 'scarcity = good' or 'scarcity = marketing tactic' interpretation is likely to be dominant. Second, we cite persuasion knowledge perspective to explain the moderating function of product curation type in a retail store-related scarcity context. This research is relevant to practitioners, such as brand manager, retail environment manager, and advertising agencies, for the effective use for the scarcity-laden message in retail. The proposed moderator can operate in many real-life situations in retail where consumers are exposed to scarcity. And curation message related to scarcity has been facilitated by the inner-retail activities. These factors of the marketplace indicate that the boundary conditions of scarcity can have a significant effect on real-life consumer judgment.
Purpose: Business agility is an important key to survival for SMEs in Indonesia, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. Indonesian local product distribution and service distribution are mostly served by SMEs. Agile businesses will be able to assist them in the proper distribution of products and services. This research examines how the direct and indirect influence of IT capabilities on business agility through organizational learning and business intelligence for small and medium enterprises in the distribution of Indonesian products and services. Research design, data and methodology: This research uses SEM method with SmartPLS tool. The sample of this research was conducted on small and medium enterprises in the distribution of Indonesian products and services. The sample obtained in this study was 202 SME owners or managers (strategic level). Results: Business intelligence plays a key role in improving business agility. The results of IT capability can directly and indirectly affect business agility through organizational learning. Conclusions: Business intelligence has the biggest role in increasing business agility in SMEs in Indonesia. IT capability has an indirect effect on business agility through organizational learning. The findings of this study prove that IT capabilities do not indirectly affect business agility through business intelligence.
In this paper, we suggest a new backorder policy for stockout which is occurred in each regional distribution centers of distribution chain for capital-goods product. In backorder process of backorder policy, minimize expected stockout through the balancing-division module, and has occured stockout is backordering through the emergency supply from central distribution center and regional distribution center. Simulation tests show that our backorder policy is on the decrease of backorder cost and improvement of customer service. Our backorder policy has two important benefit. First, customer service level is improved by realization of minimum stockout. Second, the backorder process by allowance of the same level supply is to decrease system operating cost.
