α -Cyclodextrin Modified Screen Printed Graphite Electrodes for Detection of Phenols

  • A screen printed graphite electrode has been developed for a simple and sensitive determination of phenolic compounds in an aqueous solution. The electrode developed uses a simple and effective screen printing technique with ${\alpha}-Cyclodextrin({\alpha}-CD)$ modified graphite ink. Phenols were captured on the surface of the ${\alpha}-CD$ modified electrode through complex formation. The phenol/ ${\alpha}-CD$ complex was deposited and quantified electrochemically using cyclic voltammetry (CV), differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) and square wave voltammetry (SWV). The optimization of the experimental parameters was performed in regard to electrode composition, pH, temperature, sample preconcentration time. Interferences from other organic compounds were investigated. The detection limit for phenols was 500 ${\pm}7$ nM for DPV, with the linear range of 0.5 ${\mu}M$ -25.0 ${\mu}M$ and 30 ${\pm}2$ nM for SWV, with the linear range of 30 nM - $50{\mu}M$, respectively.

One-step fabrication of a large area wire-grid polarizer by nanotransfer molding

  • We report a method to fabricate a large-area metal nanowire-grid polarizer. Liquid-bridge-mediated nanotransfer molding (LB-nTM) is based on the direct transfer of metal nanowires from a mold to a transparent substrate via liquid layer. A metal particle solution is used as an ink in the LB-nTM, which can be used for the formation of metal nanowires. The nanowires have higher depth are preferred for high transmittance. The height of nanowires that we made is about 140 nm. Large-area WGP is fabricated with good average transmittance of 74.89% in our measuring range.

  • 디지탈 윤전 등사기 또는 디지털복사 인쇄기(digital duplicator)라고 불리우는 사무용 소형 단색 윤전 인쇄기는 컴퓨터 스캐닝 기술과 스텐실 열천공 기술의 발달로 손쉽게 인쇄기상에서 자동복사 제판이 가능해 짐에 따라 우리나라에 1990년대부터 학교, 관공서, 군 및 교회등의 시험지와 홍보전단지 인쇄용으로 널리 보급되었다. 여기에 사용되는 잉크는 카트리지에 장착식으로 공급되는데, 에멀젼 잉크로서 천공으로 이루어진 스텐실 화상 뒷면으로부터 가압 통과되어 인쇄용지에 윤전식으로 인쇄된다. W/O형 에멀젼 잉크가 그 기본 전형이 된 것은 스텐실의 미세구멍을 통과하도록 큰 로라압력을 받아야 하는 잉크는 우선적으로 높은 점도이어야 하나 수십 마이크론의 미세구멍을 쉽게 빠져 나가도록 침투성이 빨라야 하는 이중적 레올로지 특성이 요구되기 때문이다. 그러나 에멀젼의 원천적인 불안정성과 물과 기름의 상호 대립적인 물리 \ulcorner화학적 특성을 주목하고 번짐, 얼룩, 배면침투, 광택문제, 건조성 지연 등의 인쇄품질을 향상시키고져 그동안 많은 연구개발이 노력이 있어 왔다. 이에 대하여 세계 시장을 크게 장악하고 있는 일본의 특허를 주로 검토하여 디지털 인쇄기용 W/O 에멀젼 잉크 기술 및 현황에 대해서 연구 조사하였다.

Functional Inks for Printed Electronics

  • In recent years, the functional inks for printed electronics that can be combined with a variety of printing techniques have attracted increasingly significant interest for use in low cost, large area, high performance integrated electronics and microelectronics. In particular, the development of solution-processable conductor, semiconductor and insulator materials is of great importance as such materials have decisive impacts on the electrical performance of various electronic devices, and, therefore, need to meet various requirements including solution processability, high electrical performance, and environmental stability. Semiconductor inks such as IGO, CIGS are synthesized by chemical solution method and microwave reaction method for TFT and solar cell application. Fine circuit pattern with high conductivity, which is valuable for flexible electrode for PCB and TSP devices, can be printed with highly concentrated and stabilized conductor inks such as silver and copper. Solution processed insulator such as polyimide derivatives can be use to all printed TFT device. Our research results of functional inks for printed electronics provide a recent trends and issues on this area.

Printed black internal conducting electrodes for flexible bistable cholesteric displays

  • We report flexible, bistable cholesteric displays utilizing polyester (PET) substrates with printed internal black electrodes. The black electrodes consist of carbon ink dispersed in butyl carbitol using a patented roll-to-roll gravure-offset printing. A transparent conducting polymer printed on PET serves as the counter electrode. The electro-optic material is a chiral nematic mixture dispersed in a low-concentration polymer binder. The device can be switched between scattering (black) and reflective (vibrant green) states upon application of an electric pulse. The internal black electrode enhances the contrast of the display and simplifies the roll-to-roll manufacture of flexible displays.

  • The UV curing industry is one of the most wide application fields in the coating and printing inks industry. Applications extend to general coating for paper, board, wood tapes, compact discs and holograms, ink, photoresists for imaging processes and adhesives for welding and sealing in circuit boards. The UV-curing resins have advantages of quick set, space saving, clean environment and efficient use of energy. The purpose of this study has been to control of morphology structures consist of UV-curing resins and alkyd resins. Therefore, we are investigated with regard to rheology properties on the exposure to UV-curing, structures and mechanical properties for curing films.

색재현 모델을 이용한 CMYK에서 $L^{*}a^{*}b^{*}$ 색변환에 관한 연구 (A study on the Transformation from CMYK to $L^{*}a^{*}b^{*}$ color space using color reproduction models)

  • Recently. color proofing in printing industry grow rapidly. If an order decide color from known color information in the case of color reproduction, we can reduce expenses and time. In color proofing the best important point must be closed proofed color to primary color and secondary color. Model-based approaches have the advantages of faster recharacterization and the opportunity of simulating product enhancements such as changes in ink properties and halftoning. In this paper, we transformed the dot area of CMYK to CIELAB color space using color reproduction models. Firstly, we measured spectral reflectance of primary color printed by Matchprint II and the data was used to find tone reproduction curve using regression equation, and than we applied at primary color model, such as Murray-Davies, Yule-Nilsen, and mixed color model, such as Kubelka-Munk, relaxed version of spectral Neugebauer. In such results, the Kubelka-Munk model resulted in the best spectral reconstruction accuracy followed by relaxed version of spectral Neugebauer model, color difference is 2.8401.

플라즈마 용사된 세라믹 코팅층의 레이저 홈가공 (Laser Engraving of Plasma Sprayed Ceramic Coatings)

  • Ceramic-coated anilox roll for printing is resistant to corrosion and wear, and hence has enhanced life and quality. Laser engraving is used typically for machining holes to store ink in this roll. Since engraved hole size and shape are directly related to laser processing parameters, it is necessary to know the rela- tionships among these parameters. In this study, the parameters for engraving of ;oasma sprayed ceramic coatings with Nd:YAG laser were studied. Relationships between hole shape and processing parameters were analyzed. Cr$_{2}$O$_{3}$ceramic was found to be most suitable for Nd:YAG laser engraving. It was found that hole depth can be increased by using higher energy pulses. Effect of using different assistant gases was small to the final results. For better results, it was suggested to use a very stable laser with shorter pulses and higher pulse energy.

한국 보자기의 장식성 연구 (Korean Wrapping Cloths as a Decorative Art)

  • 이 논문은 조선후기 보자기에 적용된 다양한 장식 특성을 연구한 것이다. 보자기는 물건을 싸거나 음식을 덮는 등 일차적으로는 실생활에 활용하기 위한 실용적 목적으로 제작되었지만, 보자기 제작은 전래된 상징적 문양의 표현을 통한 현세적 기원의 행위이기도 했으며, 또한 조선의 엄격한 유교 윤리 하에서 여성의 창작 욕구가 자유롭게 발현된 생활 속 여흥의 일부이기도 했다. 한국의 보자기에는 조각 잇기, 자수, 회염, 인염, 오려내기 세공 등 다양한 장식 기법이 활용되었다. 조각 잇기 기법이 활용된 조각보에서는 조선 여인들의 절약습관이 돋보이는데 이는 특히 자원의 재활용을 중시하는 오늘날의 가치와도 일맥상통하는 바가 있다. 자수가 놓인 수보에서는 상징적 문양의 표현을 통한 여인들의 소박한 바램이 읽혀진다. 한국 보자기는 회염이나 인염으로 장식되기도 했는데, 이들은 한국 복식 유물에서는 보기 어려운 장식 기법들이다. 농담을 조절한 다양한 색채의 당채 기법이나 단일색의 먹물 채색, 여러 종류의 도안이 새겨진 목판을 이용한 인염 기법 등이 이용되었다. 음식물이 묻지 않게 하기 위해 때로는 기름 종이로 보자기를 만들기도 했는데, 이러한 식지보에는 오려내기 세공이 장식 기법으로 활용되었다. 오려내기 기법의 원리는 스텐실 염색과 비슷하여 이를 또한 섬유제품 디자인에 활용할 수도 있다.

High resolution flexible e-paper driven by printed OTFT

  • We successfully fabricated 4.7-inch organic thin film transistors array with $640{\times}480$ pixels on flexible substrate. All the processes were done by photolithography, spin coating and ink-jet printing. The OTFT-Electrophoretic (EP) pixel structure, based on a top gate OTFT, was fabricated. The mobility, ON/OFF ratio, subthreshold swing and threshold voltage of OTFT on flexible substrate are: 0.01 ^2/V-s, 1.3 V/dec, 10E5 and -3.5 V. After laminated the EP media on OTFT array, a panel of 4.7-inch $640{\times}480$ OTFT-EPD was fabricated. All of process temperature in OTFT-EPD is lower than $150^{\circ}C$. The pixel size in our panel is $150{\mu}m{\times}150{\mu}m$, and the aperture ratio is 50 %. The OTFT channel length and width is 20 um and 200um, respectively. We also used OTFT to drive EP media successfully. The operation voltages that are used on the gate bias are -30 V during the row data selection and the gate bias are 0 V during the row data hold time. The data voltages that are used on the source bias are -20 V, 0 V, and 20 V during display media operation.
