In case of low pressure steam turbine used in power plant, it was operated in wet steam and high stress condition. Therefore, it is possible that the corrosion damage of low pressure was induced by this condition. According to previous study, about 30% of total blade failure correspond to corrosion fatigue or SCC(stress corrosion cracking) in low pressure turbine. Especially, LSB(last stage bucket) of low pressure turbine has a higher hardness to prevent erosion damage due to water droplet however, generally this is more dangerous for SCC damage. Therefore, to improve reliability of turbine blade. various methods for SCC evaluation has been developed. In this study, the crack found in LSB during in-service inspection was evaluated using microstructure analysis and stress analysis. From the stress analysis, the optimum size of fillet to remove the crack was proposed. And also, the reliability was evaluated for modified LSB using GOODMAN diagram.
The steel-concrete double composite girder in the negative flexural region combines an additional concrete slab to the steel bottom flange to prevent the local steel buckling, however, the additional concrete slab may lower down the neutral axis of the composite section, which is a sensitive factor to the tensile stress restraint on the concrete deck. This is actually of great importance to the structural rationality and durability, but has not been investigated in detail yet. In this case, a series of 5.5 m-long composite girder specimens were tested by negative bending, among which the bottom slab configuration and the longitudinal reinforcement ratio in the concrete deck were the parameters. Furthermore, an analytical study concerning about the influence of bottom concrete slab thickness on the cracking and sectional bending-carrying capacity were carried out. The test results showed that the additional concrete at the bottom improved the composite sectional bending stiffness and bending-carrying capacity, whereas its effect on the concrete crack distribution was not obvious. According to the analytical study, the additional concrete slab at the bottom with an equivalent thickness to the concrete deck slab may provide the best contributions to the improvements of crack initiation bending moment and the sectional bending-carrying capacity. This can be applied for the design practice.

Recently, lots of users are using wireless LAN providing authentication and confidentiality with security mechanism such as WEP, WPA. But, weakness of each security mechanism was discovered and attack methods that user's information was exposed or modified to the third parties with it and abused by them were suggested. In this paper, we analyzed architecture of security mechanisms in wireless LAN and performed PSK cracking attack and cookie session hijacking attack with the known vulnerability. And, an improved 4-way handshake mechanism which can counter PSK cracking attack and a cookie replay detection mechanism which can prevent cookie session hijacking attack were proposed. Proposed mechanisms are expected to apply to establish more secure wireless LAN environment by countering existing vulnerability.
An attacker with a malicious purpose can intentionally type other users' accounts and passwords, causing them to be locked or revoked. Although NIST introduced methods to prevent this attack, all suggested methods are inappropriate to prevent an attacker from manually failing authentication, and reduce user availability. In this paper, in order to prevent user account lockout due to an attacker's intentional authentication failure, we propose a new authentication method using IP address and number of failed authentication. The proposed method not only blocks attackers who intentionally try to fail authentication, but also provides convenience to users because accounts are not locked or revoked. It can also safely protect passwords against password cracking attacks.
LB-DECK, a precast concrete panel type, is a permanent concrete deck form used as a formwork for cast-in-place concrete pouring at bridge construction site. LB-DECK consists of 60 mm thick concrete slab and 125 mm height Lattice-girders partly embedded in the concrete slab. These decks have been applied to the bridges, which girder spacings are short enough to resist longitudinal cracking caused by construction loads. This paper presents experimental research work conducted to evaluate the cracking load of LB-DECKs designed for long span bridge decks. Twenty four non-composite beams and four composite beams are fabricated considering three design variables of thickness of concrete slab, height of lattice-girder, and diameter of top-bar. Static loads controlled by displacements are applied to test beams to obtain cracking and ultimate loads. Vertical displacements at the center of beams, strains of top-bar, crack propagation in concrete slab, and final failure modes are carefully monitored. The obtained cracking loads are compared to the analytical results obtained by elastic analyses. Long-term analyses using age-adjusted effective modulus method (AEMM) are also conducted to investigate the effects of concrete shrinkage on the cracking loads. Based on the test results, the tensile strength and the design details of LB-DECKs are discussed to prevent longitudinal cracking of long span bridge decks.

Recently a simple design method for rib-reinforced seismic steel moment connections has been proposed based on equivalent strut model. An experimental program was implemented to verify the proposed design method and to develop the schemes that will prevent the cracking at the rib tip, where stress concentration was evident. All the specimens designed by the proposed method were able to develop satisfactory connection plastic rotation of 0.04 radian. Slight beam flange trimming, in addition to rib reinforcement, pushed the plastic hinging and local buckling of the beam away from the rip tip and effectively reduced the cracking potential at the rib tip. The strut action of the rib and resulting reverse shear in the beam web were also experimentally identified through the strain gage readings.

One of the main degradation mechanisms in steam generator tubes is stress corrosion cracking induced by residual stress. The resulting damages can cause tube bursting or leakage of the primary water which contains radioactivity. Shot peening technique has been used to prevent stress corrosion crack growth in steam generator tubes. In order to investigate the shot peening effect on stress corrosion cracking stress intensity factors are calculated for the semi-elliptical surface crack which is located in residual stress region. The residual stress distribution in steam generator tubes is obtained from the simple model proposed by Frederick et al.

The main components, such as a reactor vessel, in commercial nuclear power plants have been welded to pipes with dissimilar metal in which Primary Water Corrosion Cracking (PWSCC) has been occurred. PWSCC has become a worldwide issue recently. This paper addresses the results of experimental and numerical analysis to prevent PWSCC by changing the stress profile that is tensile stress to compressive stress at interesting regions with plastic deformation generated by mechanical pressure. Based on the results of experimental and numerical analysis with a 6 inch pipe and dissimilar metal welded pipes, compressive stress 68~206 Mpa is generated at all locations of inner surface in the heat affected zone.

Recently, serious cracking problems have been reported in this country while the process of actual massive concrete construction. he hydration heat arising from the chemical reaction of cement with water causes temperature differentials in between inside and outside of a structural member, and these temperature differentials induce thermal stresses. In this paper, we described on the practical application and quality control of the mass concrete mixed with fly-ash. This project is investigating adiabatic temperature rise test of concrete, mock-up test in the laboratory, ad B/P before placing the mass concrete in site. As a result, we can be prevent temperature cracking from the cement hydration heat of mass concrete and also can be showed up secure quality control flow chart of mass concrete.
Fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) bars have been widely used as reinforcement for concrete structures. However, under elevated temperatures, the difference between the transverse coefficients of thermal expansion of FRP rebars and concrete may cause the splitting cracks of the concrete cover. As a result, the bonding of FRP-reinforced concrete may not sustain its function to transfer load between the FRP rebar and the surrounding concrete. The current study investigates the cracking resistance of FRP reinforced concrete against the thermal expansion based on a mechanical model that accounts for the tensile softening behavior of concrete. To evaluate the efficacy of the proposed model, the critical temperature increments at which the splitting failure of the concrete cover occurs and the internal crack radii estimated are compared with the results obtained from the previous studies. Simplified equations for estimating the critical temperature increments and the minimum concrete cover required to prevent concrete splitting failure for a designated temperature increment are also derived for design purpose.
