A NOVEL ANTI-MICROBIAL COLLOIDAL SILVER SYSTEM AND ITS APPLICATION FOR COSMETICS

  • A new colloidal silver (Ag) system is present in which a fine colloidal Ag is in situ deposited onto functionalized porous poly (ethylene glycol dimethacrylate) (poly (EGDMA)) microspheres. The effectiveness of Ag deposition was investigated considering the surface characteristics of poly (EGDMA) microspheres. The result reported in this study illustrates that the control of surface area and surface functionality (in this study, a hydroxyl group) of poly (EGDMA) microspheres is an important factor that determines practically the degree of deposition of colloidal Ag. The x-ray analysis showed that Ag nanoparticles were dispersed evenly inner and outer surfaces and had a face center cubic (fee) phase. In the preservative efficacy test, the Ag-containing poly (EGDMA) microspheres had a powerful anti-bacterial activity, showing a high potential for a new preservative in cosmetic industry.

네오니코치드계 목재보존제가 집성재 제조용 레조르시놀 수지의 접착력에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Neonicochid Type Wood Preservative on Adhesive Properties of Resorcinol Resin for Lminated Wood)

  • 흰개미 방제 및 방곰팡이 효력이 입증된 저독성 네오티코치드계 목재보존제가 집성재 제조용 레조르시놀계 접착제의 접착력에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. ACQ, CUAZ, 네오니코치드계 약제를 도포 처리한 다음 건조시킨 소나무 판재를 사용하였으며, 집성 접착 후에 블록 전단시험편을 채취하여 상태 및 촉진 열화 시험 후의 전단접착력과 목파율을 측정하여 비교하였다. ACQ 및 CUAZ 처리 집성재는 무처리 및 네오니코치드계 목재보존제 처리 집성재에 비하여 낮은 전단접착력을 보여 접착력 저하가 인정되었다. 이것은 이들 방부제 중에 함유되어 있는 구리화합물에 기인하는 것으로 판단되었다. 네오니코치드계 목재보존제 처리 집성재는 상태 및 촉진열화 시험 후에도 가장 우수한 전단접착력을 나타내 레조르시놀계 접착제의 접착성능에는 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 판단하였다.

초음파침지처리에 의한 목재방부제의 주입성 (Penetrating Performance of Wood-preservatives by Ultrasonic Steeping)

  • 본 실험에서는 초음파의 특성을 이용하여 목재를 방부처리하고 그 주입효과에 대해 검토하고자 하였다. 유용성 방부제인 NCU (나프텐산 구리)와 수용성 방부제 AAC (알킬암모늄 화합물)에 소나무 및 잣나무 시편을 침지한 후 40 kHz, 400 W 출력의 초음파를 발진시켰다. 초음파처리 이후 시편의 흡수율 및 침윤도는 시간 경과에 따라 지속적으로 증가하여 120시간 경과 후 AAC처리 잣나무, 소나무 모두에 대해 약 95%의 흡수율을 얻을 수 있었으며, 소나무 및 잣나무 각 시편 두께의 95, 83%에 해당하는 NCU의 침윤도를 얻을 수 있었다. 초음파 처리후의 시편을 SEM을 이용해 관찰하였으며, 초음파 발생에 의해 생성된 고온, 고압의 충격파가 목재 내 약액의 주입통로가 되는 벽공구를 파괴하고 초음파의 탈포작용과 목재내 추출물의 배출 등에 기인하여 약액의 주입성능이 향상된 것으로 판단된다. 초음파 처리에 의한 방부제의 주입은 가압방부처리의 적용이 어려운 소재, 단판 등에 적용이 가능할 것으로 판단된다.

  • Nanotechnology in the food industry can increase the effectiveness of food ingredients. Nanotechnology can increase the bioavailability and absorption of bioactive compounds, enhance their stability, and improve the sensory quality of the product. Processed meat products are easily damaged due to bacterial activity. Advanced nanoemulsions as a meat preservative are nanoemulsions that can be used as preservative agents in meat products, particularly essential oil nanoemulsions, due to their antimicrobial and antioxidant properties. Its application is still limited to foods made from meat products. Therefore, this literature review examines nanoemulsion and its application in meat products and functionality improvement. Also, in the future, nanoemulsions in meat products must be made safe, and the government and businesses must work together to build consumer trust. It can be concluded that essential oil-based nanoemulsion has the potential to be used as an additive in meat products because it can kill bacteria, fight free radicals, improve flavor, and keep food fresh. Nanoemulsion is challenging in the meat industry because it can be toxic due to its tiny droplets (under 200 nm).

합판(合板)의 방부처리(防腐處理)가 그 접착강도(接着强度) 및 방부력(防腐力)에 미치는 영향(影響) (The Effects of the Preservative Treatment of the Plywood on it's Shear-strength and Decaying Properties)

  • 본(本) 연구(硏究)는 합판(合板)의 부후(부후)하는 성질(性質)를 개선(改善)하기 위하여 방부처리(防腐處理)를 실시(實施)하였을 때 그 접착강도(接着强度)와 방부력(防腐力)에 미치는 영향을 알아내기 위하여 실시(實施)하였다. 그 실험결과(實驗結果)를 종합(綜合)하면 다음과 같다. 1. 합판(合板)을 제작(製作)하여 그 합판(合板)을 직접(直接) 방부처리(防腐處理)하였을 때나 또는 단판(單板)을 미리 방부처리(防腐處理)하여 합판(合板)을 제작(製作)하였을 때나 모두 합판(合板)의 접착강도(接着强度)는 감소(減少)하지 않았다. 2. 합판(合板)을 마레니트(Malenit)로 처리(處理)하였을 때의 내부효력(耐腐効力)은 명확(明確)히 나타났으며 방부처리(防腐處理)를 하지 않은 합판(合板)이나 소나무 변재부(邊材部)와 비교(比較)하였을때 내부효력(耐腐効力)이 큰것으로 나타났다. 3. 방부효력(防腐効力) 실험결과(實驗結果) 동일(同一) 공시재(供試材)라 하여도 접종(接種)한 균종(菌腫)에 따라 중량감소(重量減少)에 차이(差異)가 있었으며 반대(反對)로 동일균(同一菌)을 접종(接種)하였을 때라도 공시재(供試材)의 종류(種類)에 따라 균(菌)의 호혐(好嫌)에 차이(差異)가 나타났다.

낙엽송(落葉松) 심재(心材)의 CCA와 CCFZ 처리특성(處理特性) 및 자상처리(刺傷處理)에 의(依)한 CCA 처리도(處理度) 개선(改善) (Treatment Characteristics of Japanese Larch Heartwood with CCA or CCFZ and Improving its CCA Treatability by Incising Techniques)

  • The treatability of Japanese larch heartwood was assessed by pressure treatment of non-incised dimension material with CCA or CCFZ. The effectiveness of incising(conventional, high density, and needle incising) for improving CCA treatability on refractory Japanese larch heartwood was also investigated. Preservative retention and penetration were somewhat greater with CCFZ treatment, although those was generally poor in both preservatives. The retention gradients for both CCA and CCFZ-treated stock were essentially the same shape. Treatment of non-incised material with CCA acheived the recommended treatability for using treated wood at the regions of hazard class H2 in the Japanese Agricultural Standards. However, Japanese larch heartwood would require incising as a pretreatment for enhancing treatability, if CCA-treated larch is intended to be used at the regions of hazard class H3 and H4. As expected, incising resulted in a considerable improvement of preservative treatability, particularly penetration, and the effect of incising on the improvement of treatability was excellent at the sequence of needle incising, high density incising, and conventional incising. Among incising techniques investigated in this study, high density and needle incising enhanced CCA treatability beyond the point where it did meet a minimum requirements specified by the Japanese Agricultural Standards for using CCA-treated Japanese larch at the regions of hazard class H3 and even H4.

증기(蒸氣) 전처리(前處理)에 의(依)한 낙엽송(落葉松) 심재(心材)의 방부제(防腐劑) 처리도(處理度) 개선(改善)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究) (Studies on Improving Preservative Treatability of Japanese Larch Heartwood by Presteaming)

  • The effectiveness of presteaming for improving CCA treatability on refractory Japanese larch heartwood was investigated in this study. Presteaming was effective on improving treatability, and the extent of improvement was dependent on moisture contents of wood specimen and steaming conditions. Green wood showed higher average value in both preservative retention and penetration than dry wood, and steaming under pressure conditions also had higher treatability than steaming at atmospheric conditions. The degree of improvement for treatability was increased with the extension of steaming period. Treatability of dry wood pres teamed under pressure conditions more than 6 hours and green wood for 3 hours was similar to that enhanced by conventional incising. Presteaming green wood under pressure conditions more than 6 hours was more effective than conventional incising in improvement of CCA treatability, and resultant treatability satisfied a minimum value required for CCA-treated wood for being used at the regions of hazard class H3 and H4. In addition, an improvement of treatability by presteaming was due to an increase in permeability resulted from the degradation of hemicelluloses within aspirated pit membrane and cell wall, not the removal of extractives from pit membrane. The reduction in strength, measured as longitudinal compressive strength, due to pres teaming was related with the degradation of hemicelluloses, and was increased as steaming conditions were severe. The degree of strength reduction associated with presteaming treatment to obtain required treatability could be quantified from the relatively good relation between the increase in treatability and the decrease in strength.

Inhibition of Yeast Film Formation in Fermented Vegetables by Materials Derived from Garlic Using Cucumber Pickle Fermentation as a Model System

  • Film-forming yeasts generate an undesirable yeasty flavor in fermented vegetables such as kimchi in the presence of oxygen. Antimicrobial materials including garlic oil (GO), heated garlic (HG), and allyl alcohol (AA) were investigated for use as alternative natural food preservatives to inhibit the growth of film-forming yeasts in fermented vegetables. Using the fermentation of cucumber pickles as a model system, GO, HG, and AA were effective in preventing film formation at concentrations of 0.006, 3.0, and 0.02%, respectively. The effectiveness of HG in preventing the growth of a film yeast, Hansenula anomala, was not influenced by pH, while that of potassium sorbate, a typical anti-yeast food preservative, was highly dependent on pH. All tested materials were effective when added at the beginning of fermentation due to their negligible inhibitory activity toward lactic acid bacteria.

비이온 계면 활성제가 화장품의 방부력에 미치는 영향 (The effect of nonionic surfactants on the antimicrobial activity of preservatives in cosmetic products)

  • 방부제와 계면활성제를 혼합 사용하였을 경우 미생물에 대한 방부력 변화를 검토하고자 Imidazolidinyl urea, Methylparaben, Imidazolidinyl urea와 Methylparaben 혼합체 3종의 농도에 따른 각 농도별 계면활성제 Tween 20, Tween60, Tween 80의 첨가가 S. aureus ATCC E. coli ATCC 10536, P. aeruginosa NCTC 10490에 대한 방부력에 미치는 영향을 실험하였으며, 아울러 제품내에서 Tween 60 계면활성제 농도에 변화를 주었을 때의 방부력 변화를 조사하였다. 1. S. aureus ATCC 6538 Methylparaben과 Imidazolidinyl urea 혼합체에 대해 내성을 전혀 갖지 않았다. 2. E. coli ATCC 10536은 Mithylparaben에 대하여 내성을 전혀 갖지 않았다. 3. Mithlparaben과 Imidazolidinyl urea 혼합체는 Gram 음성균, Gram 양성균에 넓은 향균 spectrum을 나타났다. 즉, 방부제는 단일 사용시보다 혼합 사용시 상승효과를 가졌다. 4. Imidazolidinyl urea는 Polyoxyethylene(20) Sorbitan fatty acid ester류에 의해 전혀 방부력에 영향을 받지 않는 반면에 시험균주 3종에 대해 내성이 잘 되었다. 5. Muthylparaben은 Polyoxyethylene(20) Sorbitan fatty acid ester류에 의해 불활성화가 큰 폭으로 나타났다. 6. 방부제 Methyparaben 0.2%를 함유하는 제품에 비이온 계면활성제 Tween 60의 량을 0.5, 1.0, 2.0%로 달리 첨가하였을시 D-value는 제품내 비이온 계면활성제 Tween 60의 량이 증가할수록 비례하여 커졌다. 즉, 비이온 계면활성제 Polyoxyethylene(20) Sorbitan monostearate에 의해 Methylparaben이 제품내에서도 불활성화 되었다.
