  • This study attempted to analyze and confirm the correlation between self-concept and the degree of satisfaction on clinical practice. The subjects of the survey were 194 junior and senior students selected from S universities by questionaire from Nov. 1 to Nov. 30, 1983 in Seoul. The collected data was analyzed by t-test, AN-OVA, Pearson correlation according to purpose of study. The results were as follows: 1. Self-concept by religion was significant (F = 4.51, df=4/185, p= .002). 2. In the motives of selecting the nursing, most of students chose the nursing depending on their altruism(62.9%), ability and aptitude(57.7%) and better opportunity of studying abroad and Setting a job(49.5%) respectively. 3. The degree of clinical practice satisfaction was low as 2.80 of a total score 4.0. The degree of satisfaction of contents(3.33) revealed to be high. Compared with the degree of satisfaction on instruction(2.77), practice hours(2.83), practice environment (3.65), and clinical evaluation(2.60) revealed to be low. Religion and choice order of the admission were not significant in satisfaction of clinical practice(t=.37, p=.715). The main hypothesis that“The more positive self concept will be, the higher the degree of satisfaction on clinical practice will be”was not supported (r= .0509, p=.240). The first sub-hypothesis that“The more positive the cognitive self-concept will be, the higher the degree of satisfaction will be”was partially supported. Because favorite-isolated self-concept was significantly correlated with the satisfaction (r=.1189, P=.005). The second sub·hypothesis that“The more positive the evaluational self-concept will be, the higher the degree of satisfaction on clinical practice will be”was not supported. As a above results, self-concept was not influenced to the degree of satisfaction on clinical practice, therefore it is required that environment, instruction method and evaluation for clinical practice should be refined and improved by clinical administrators and nursing faculties for nor-sing student's satisfaction on clinical practice.

  • The educational backgrounds and research interests of pharmacy educators in Korea were analyzed to investigate the possibility of migrating the pharmacy education system from basic science-oriented to pharmacy practice-oriented. There are 257 full-time faculty members and 190 part-time members in twenty pharmacy colleges in 1999. Most of the full-time professors are majoring in basic pharmacy areas focused on the drug itself. Thirty nine percent of full-time professors are specialized in the fields of Medicinal Chemistry, $20\%$ in Biochemistry, $19\%$ in Pharmaceutics, and $18\%$ in Pharmacology-Toxicology. Only $4\%$ are related to the Pharmacy Practice Field. When we consider only the educational backgrounds of the educators, $89\%$ of full-time professors are related to the subjects of Korean Pharmacists Licensure Examination. Changes in educator's inclination will lead to the changes in pharmacy education and the contents of the test. There will be at least 38 job-openings due to retirements within next five years, and this will lead to approximately $15\%$ changes of current full time professors in Korean pharmacy education. More full-time professors will be needed in the area of pharmacy practice in order to focus on the pharmacy practice-oriented pharmacy education. Many distinguished characteristics of pharmacy educators between the private schools and the national universities are also discussed in the paper.

  • The purpose of this study was to find out whether there was a meaningful change in the learning perception and interpersonal relations of nursing students after completing clinical practice. Participants were 32 nursing students in the third grade. The research data were collected by questionnaire consisting of interpersonal relations and learning perception. The analysis of data was analyzed by SPSS 21 Version. General characteristics were analyzed by descriptive statistics, correlation between variables was analyzed by Pearson's relation, and differences of variables before and after clinical practice were analyzed by paired t-test. The results of the study are as follows. In clinical practice, interpersonal abilities showed a significant correlation with learning outcomes (R =.351, p =.049). The interpersonal abilities of nursing students improved significantly(t =2.264, p =.13) after completion of clinical practice. Nursing college students recognized that their interpersonal abilities had improved after completion of clinical practice, and the improvement of interpersonal abilities was statistically supported. Considering that the interpersonal relationship was an important factor in the clinical practice related stress of the nursing college students, it was meaningful that the interpersonal ability improved after the clinical practice. The positive correlation between interpersonal abilities and learning perceptions in clinical practice of nursing college students suggests future directions for future research. The results of this study will provide basic data on education that will enhance the satisfaction of students' clinical practice and improve their learning outcomes.

The instrument used for this study was the OㆍMㆍI (Opinion about Mental Illness) scale developed by Cohen and Struening. Data collection was done from the 27th to the 30th of September, 1988 by means of a questionnaire. Data were analyzed by computer, using the t-test and Analysis of Variance. The finding of this study are as follows : 1. Hypothesis I: “There will be a difference in attitudes toward mental illness according to the year in college 1"There will be a difference in the attitude about authoritarianism-according to the year in college" was rejected(F=.5675, P=.5676). 2 "There will be a difference in the attitude about benevolence-according to the year in college." was accepted(F=.5376, P=.5848). 3. "There will be a difference in the attitude about mental hygiene ideology-according to." was accepted (F=17.3497, P=.0000). 4. "There will be a difference in the attitude about social restrictiveness-according to" was rejected (F=1.7416, P=.1771), 5."There will be a difference in the attitude about interpersonal etiology-according to" was accepted (F=10.8597, P=.0000). 2. Hypothesis II : "There will bed difference in attitudes toward mental illness." according to whether or not the student have had clinical practice in the psychiatric ward. 1.There will be a difference in the attitudes about authoritarianism - according to "whether or not the student's have had clinical practice in the psychiatric ward was rejected(t=.59, p=.555). 2. "Whether they have had clinical practice at the psychiatric ward or not, There will be difference in the attitudes about benevolence." was rejected (t=1.34, p=.182). 3."Whether they have had clinical practice at the psychiatric ward or not, there will be difference of the mental hygiene ideology attitude." was accepted (t=2.72, p=.008). \circled4 “Whether they have had clinical practice at the psychiatric ward or not, there will be difference of the social restrictiveness - attitude." was rejected (t=-.59, p=.557). 5. "Whether they have had clinical practice at the psychiatric ward or not, there will be difference of to interpersonal etiology-attitude." was accepted(t=3.55, p=.001). In conclusion, it was found that the higher the year in College, the more positive the attitudes are about mental hygiene ideology and interpersonal etiology. This study suggests that more positive attifudes about psychiatric illness can be induced by a more effective educational experience. The main limitation of this study was that the sociocultural background of Korea is not considered in the OㆍMㆍI scale.

  • Introduction: The aim of this study protocol is to share and disclose the methodology used to develop an evidence-based clinical practice guideline (CPG) of therapeutic interventions used in Korean medicine for patients with stroke. Methods: The CPG development process will consist of two phases. In phase I, a development committee will be established, and they will decide the key questions to be answered. A systematic review and meta-analysis will be performed to answer these key questions by searching relevant randomized controlled trials and systematic reviews. Draft recommendations will be developed according to the evidence level and recommendation grades primarily determined using the GRADE methodology. Panels comprised of external experts will be formed, and surveys and a face-to-face meeting will be conducted to reach a consensus on the recommendations. A preliminary guideline will be created after final review by the development committee. In phase II, we will conduct clinical trials and economic analysis to supplement the lack of evidence found in the phase I. Conclusion: The CPG is expected to help doctors practicing Korean medicine in clinics or hospitals with making decisions based on the most reliable evidence, ultimately leading to the provision of optimal care for patients with stroke.

  • This study attempted to identify the experiences of nursing students' participation in cadaver practice and provide a basis for understanding students' experiences in cadaver practice, which can be reflected in the development of programs for them. By applying the content analysis method according to the guidelines by Krippendorff to analyze the meaning of the experience of participating in cadaver practice among 80 nursing students who participated in cadaver practice at K University in W-si, Gangwon-do, a total of 4 areas, 13 categories, and 25 meaningful statements were derived. The categories included "worried," "surprised," and "fear" in the anxiety domain; "interesting," "knowing," and "focused" in the immersion domain; "value of life," "gratitude and remembrance," "thinking about donation," "facing death," and "precious body" in the reflection domain; and "motivation" and "sense of accomplishment" in the growth domain. The results of this study will help to understand the physical and psychological reactions that nursing students may experience during cadaver practice, and will provide a basis for developing various strategies such as counseling, education, and reflection programs in conjunction with cadaver practice to help nursing students cope with stress, develop a sense of ethical responsibility, and develop a positive self-image as nursing students in order to be successful in cadaver practice. This study is also significant because it provides a basis for preventive program interventions for experiences related to the negative effects of cadaver practice.

  • This study was conducted to compare and evaluate the expectations and satisfaction of clinical practice for students who conducted practice at clinical practice institutions of various sizes before and after COVID-19, and to suggest future clinical practice guidance methods and operation directions. There was a significant difference in the evaluation of satisfaction with practice before and after COVID-19, especially after the evaluation of satisfaction with practice guidance, practice environment, and practice time. As a result of analyzing the decisive influencing factors related to practice satisfaction, students who conducted practice at university hospitals highly evaluated the institutional environmental factors, and students who conducted practice at small and medium-sized hospitals showed high satisfaction in participation-oriented practice. Therefore, it is thought that practice that utilizes the strengths and weaknesses of university hospitals and small and medium-sized hospitals will be more effective than clinical practice that relies only on university hospitals. However, in order to diversify the training institution to small and medium-sized hospitals, it is necessary to create a manual on standardized training courses, training methods, and evaluation methods suitable for the training goals and curriculum, and provide them to the institution. In addition, if it is operated through sufficient exchange of opinions and consultation with institutions, schools will be able to obtain opportunities to cultivate practical talents, and small and medium-sized hospitals with difficulties in expanding manpower will be able to secure excellent human resources first.
