Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze the importance, difficulty, and frequency of work (duties and tasks) done by nurses' in Outpatient Departments (OPD). Method: Data were collected using structured questionnaires, which included 11 duties and 92 tasks making up the OPD nurse's job. Questionnaires were completed by 286 nurses. Each duty and task was analyzed for importance, difficulty, and frequency (range 1-3). Results: The mean score for importance was $2.58{\pm}0.29$, for difficulty, $2.11{\pm}0.31$, and for frequency, $2.18{\pm}0.31$. OPD nurses recognized 'patient education and consultation' as important and difficult. However, in practice OPD nurses reported the most frequent task as 'support for medical services'. There was a significant difference in importance and difficulty of duties according to OPD nurses' university degree (F=3.693, p=.026; F=4.089, p=.018) and hospital size (F=4.274, p=.006; F=3.154, p=.025). However there were no differences in importance, difficulty, or frequency according to clinical experience in OPD. Conclusion: The findings indicate that OPD nurses must be able to do important and difficult duties and tasks, especially patient education and consultation. To have time for these uniquely nursing tasks, OPD nurses need to delegate 'preparation for medical service', and 'management of facility and environment' to nonmedical health-care workers.

Recent changes in health problems as well as the health delivery system demand expanding nursing roles to improve quality care and at the same time provide cost-effective health services. Nursing leaders of the future will be expected to be excellent care givers who are well prepared as researchers and managers and administrators. The purpose of developing an ND program is to train nursing leaders for the future. The program objective are to demonstrate the role as 1) an advanced practitioner who will provide theory based practice 2) a researcher and manager The target population of the ND program is as follows : 1) Nurses with a BSN degree who are seeking to advance on the career ladder 2) Non-nursing BS, BA graduates who are seeking nursing as a second career 3) Transfer students who are mature and motived to be nursing leaders It is believed that the ND program would meet the diverse needs for potential students, for their role in nursing and the health delivery system and create a meaning and challenging position in the profession of nursing. A task force team was organized to develop the ND program and its activities are as follows; 1) Information on ND programs were collected from 3 universities and reviewed 2)An advanced education needs assessment was completed and it was found that 87.6% of the subjects responded positively about advanced degree work. 3) A tentative curriculum for an ND program was developed. It is a great challenge to develop a new program for nursing however, it is also our task and responsibility to further the development of nursing.
Physical therapists have been using balance and weight shifting training to induce improvements in standing and walking. This study compared the effects of kinetic feedback frequency and concurrent kinetic feedback on the performance and learning of a weight shifting skill in young, nondisabled adults. Sixteen young adults without known impairment of the neuromusculoskeletal system volunteered for the study. Subjects in each of three kinetic feedback groups performed a weight shifting task in an attempt to minimize error between their effort and a center of pressure (COP) template for a 12 second period. Feedback was provided: 1) concurrently (concurrent feedback), 2) after each trial (100% feedback), 3) after every other trial (50% feedback). Immediate and delayed (24 hour) retention tests were performed without feedback. During acquisition phase, the concurrent feedback group exhibited less error than either of the post response feedback group. For the immediate retention test, the 50% feedback group exhibited less error than did the 100% feedback and concurrent feedback. During the delayed retention, 50% feedback group displayed less error than did the other groups. But no significant differences were found between groups. These results suggest that practice with concurrent feedback is beneficial for the immediate performance, but not for the learning of this weight shifting skill. Lower frequency of feedback resulted in more permanent changes in the subject's ability to complete the task.
The role of Community Health Practitioner(CHP) should be continuously adapted to the social changes and the needs for health care services. That is the reason CHP needs to be retrained through the continuing education program. This paper showed CHP's roles to be reinforced by analyzing his present . task performance and ability in seven task areas as well as the changes of the social environment. In addition, this paper presented retraining areas needed for the reinforcement of the CHP's role in the future, and the development strategy of related continuing education package. The major results are as follows: 1. CHP's main practice area is health care services and management & guidance, whereas the development of health information system is neglected. 2. As a result, CHP plays a role mainly as a health care supplier, a consultant and a health instructor. Therefore CHP's roles to be reinforced are management of the community health system, act as a spokesman and a team member, promotion, assessment, collection & maintenance of information, coordination and research. 3. The areas to be reinforced in CHP's continuing education are (]) aged people's health, (2)?drinking & smoking, (3)?young people's health(including drug and sexualissues), (4) rehabilitation, (5)?administration and management for community health, (6)?partnership & membership, (7) local residents' participation and community development, (8) collection & treatment of health information and (9) environmental issues for community health. 4. The priority in developing continuing education package should be given to the area, which is encountered often in rural area but important, and has a good opportunity to be resolved. The health management of aged people was selected as a top priority by members of the Community Nursing Academic Society. 5. It is recommended that the instruction materials be accommodated to the small scale workshop or seminar in order that CHPs can participate actively in the continuing education program.
Objective: The aim of this study was to perform a usability test for CPAD (Cognitive Perceptual Assessment for Driving) and improve it based on the test results. Background: The cognitive perceptual assessment for driving is a computer-based assessment tool to assess the driving capacity of people with brain-damages. It may be a good tool for evaluating the brain-damaged drivers' safe driving capabilities and screening cognitive and perceptual deficits related to driving. We performed a usability test to improve the CPAD based on the result. Method: Both the software consisting of 8 sub-tests (depth perception, sustained attention, divided attention, stroop test, field dependency, digit span, trail making A, trail making B) and the hardware including the input and output devices ( joystick, mouse, keyboard, touch screen) were evaluated through user interviews. Also we identified the problems and issues in using them by observing the participants performing the CPAD tasks. Results: Based on the results, the task instructions were visually and auditorily improved and more practice examples were added to help the users understand the instructions better and increase the input accuracy, a response time window was added and the joystick and touch screen were simplified, which made it easier for the user to perform the CAPD tasks. Conclusion: User discomforts were minimized by improving the task environment, unless it had affected the evaluation criteria. Application: We plan to distribute the improved version of the CPAD to the regional rehabilitation hospitals, and the driving support centers for people with disabilities throughout the country, so it could be used as an evaluation tool for disabled drivers' cognitive and perceptual functions.

This descriptive longitudinal study was done to identify the ethical value of nursing students and to compare the differences of results with one year interval. The data were collected twice in 1999 and in 2000, from the 82 first year and 64 second year nursing students who have been attending at C college in Chonnam province. The analysis of data was done by frequency, mean, paired t-test, t-test, and ANOVA. The results of data were summarized as follows: 1. The total ethical value score of the first year students was 3.48 (maximum : 5) and, one year later, the score was lowered to 3.26. Especially, the degree of their ethical value was significantly decreased in the sub-areas of human-life and nurse-nursing task. 2. The total ethical value score of the second year students was 3.24 and, one year later, the score was increased to 3.39. The degree of their ethical value was significantly increased in the subarea of nurse- client relationship. 3. In the subarea of human-life, the mean score of ethical value was 3.25 and, one year later, the score was 2.95. The degree of ethical value was significantly lowered among the first year students with an utilitarian position. 4. In the subarea of nurse-client relationship, the mean score of ethical value was 3.39 and, one year later, the score was 3.67. The degree of ethical value was significantly increased among the second year students with a deontological position. 5. In the subarea of nurse-nursing task relationship, the mean score of ethical value was 3.38 and, one year later, the mean score was 3.08. The degree of ethical value was significantly decreased among the first year students. 6. In the subarea of nurse-collaboration relationship, the mean score of ethical value was 3.96 and, one year later, the mean score was 4.08 in second year students. There was no statistically significant difference. 7. The ethical values of nursing students were significantly different depending on their religion, length of study, attitude toward nursing and the experience of dying during their clinical practice.
The purpose of this paper is to test construct validity of contextual performance of social worker. The participants in this study included 170 social worker in community welfare center nationwide. A narrative data of social work practice experience and MTMM(multitriat-multimethod) data on job performance were collected. I classified meaningful contextual behavior cases by qualitative methods, and examined discriminant validity of contextual and task performance by CFA model. Data analysis showed that social workers' contextual performance has discriminant validity and sub constructs of this concept have internal consistency. However, some construct are not completely independent.

Purpose: This study aimed to establish the role of and to analyze the job of nurses in a regional emergency center using the Developing a Curriculum(DACUM) process, a job analysis technique. Methods: The DACUM committee was organized, and three workshops were held from June 1st to July 4th, 2016. One hundred two nurses in a regional emergency center participated in a survey from October 3rd to 10th, 2016. The frequency, importance and difficulty of each tasks and task elements in the DACUM were investigated on a Likert scale. Results: The roles of nurses in a regional emergency center were identified and the DACUM chart was developed with 6 duties, 29 tasks and 153 task elements. According to the survey, some tasks such as 'CPR,' 'acute respiratory distress care,' and 'drug administration' showed high frequency and importance or difficulty in all nursing units in common, and different results reflected the characteristics of each nursing unit were also found. Conclusion: The results showed the feature of the regional emergency center. Based on these results, it is necessary to develop educational programs for practice.
Purpose: Although appointed as a national competency standards (NCS) based reserves department, the department of emergency medical technology, an NCS-based emergency department, is mainly focused on subject deduction for a NCS-based curriculum. Methods: Job models were formed and verified by combining the competency unit of NCS and the duty of Developing a curriculum (DACUM) based on the development procedure indicated in the guidelines for a NCS-based curriculum. The mapping method of the subject was performed by deducting necessary competency units (duty) and competency unit elements (task) by connecting with the composition items of NCS and DACUM. Results: Job models combined with job analysis for the NCS and DACUM were reduced to 13 competency units (duty) and 79 competency unit elements (task). A modified method such as the 1:N method was mainly applied as a subject-matching method with consideration of the competency level and size of the competency unit. Conclusion: It would be a desirable direction to develop a NCS-based curriculum in the center of the practice subject in consideration of the size of the competency unit and competency level of the competency unit element. The existing curriculum should be promoted as a field-oriented curriculum at the complementary level.
