The use of smart devices worldwide has been increasing day by day and its applications based on IoT have been also extended. But the power control system requires complicated control and processing information from the various sensors in practice. One of the best ways to save the power consumption is to manage electrical equipment individually on the Internet. In this paper, remote power control system for managing the power through the relay switch module via Python server was implemented by using Raspberry Pi. The proposed power control system can be used anywhere over the Internet.

The frequency power control method (FCM) which has a wide operating frequency range is adopted for induction heating (IH) cooktops. When FCM is applied to the full-bridge series resonant converter (FB-SRC) based IH system, high-frequency switching of the inverter is required compared to the half-bridge SRC (HB-SRC)-based IH system. Therefore, the switching loss of the inverter increases, and applying FCM under the condition that the inverter operating frequency range is limited is difficult. Therefore, this paper proposes a control strategy with the phase shift power control method considering that limited frequency conditions are presented. Loss analysis following the control method is performed through simulation and mathematical analysis. In addition, the validity of the proposed control strategy is verified by analyzing the heating performance following the control method through the test results of the 3,200[W] prototype.
The optimum control of voltage and reactive power in large system requires large amounts of complicated calculation. If the large power system is controlled by the centralized control scheme, the necessary computing time, memory requirments and data transmission channels increase exponetially, and computer control of the system becomes difficult. Piecewise method which aims at the reduction of the difficulties of centralized control scheme is to decompose a large power system into several subsystems, each of which is controlled by a local computer and the control efforts of each subsystem are coordinated by a central computer. Unless sufficient coordination is made between subsystems, the control quality may become very poor. This paper describes how piecewise method can be applied in the optimal control of voltage and reactive power in large system, and presents effective calaulating algorithm for the solution of the problem. The numerical example for model system is presented here.

This paper presents a neural network based decentralized excitation controller design for large-scale power systems. The proposed controller design considers not only the dynamics of generators but also the algebraic constraints of the power flow equations. The control signals are calculated using only local signals. The transient stability and the coordination of the subsystem control activities are guaranteed through rigorous stability analysis. Neural networks in the controller design are used to approximate the unknown/imprecise dynamics of the local power system and the interconnections. All signals in the closed loop system are guaranteed to be uniformly ultimately bounded. To evaluate its performance, the proposed controller design is compared with conventional controllers optimized using particle swarm optimization. Simulations with a three-machine power system under different disturbances demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed controller design.
The present voltage-reactive power control aims at an overall coordination of reactive power sources and voltage regulation devices to keep the bus voltages within their allowable bounds on one hand and to reduce the transmission losses on the other. This paper presents an efficient computer control scheme for the real-time control of system voltage and reactive power on the basis of a simplified linear equation by using the system characteristic constant. Computational algorithm is used for the minimization of bus voltage deviation in the first phase of optimization and for the reduction of transmission losses under the constraint of vlotage settling condition in the second phase. The numerical example for sample practical system is also given. The present study on the computer control scheme will contribute to the automation of power system operation in the near future.

This paper presents a capacitive power transfer (CPT) system using a Class-E resonant inverter. A Class-E resonant inverter is chosen because of its ability to perform DC-to-AC inversion efficiently while significantly reducing switching losses. The proposed CPT system consists of an efficient Class-E resonant inverter and capacitive coupling formed by two flat rectangular transmitter and receiver plates. To understand CPT behavior, we study the effects of various coupling distances on output power performance. The proposed design is verified through lab experiments with a nominal operating frequency of 1 MHz and 0.25 mm coupling gap. An efficiency of 96.3% is achieved. A simple frequency tracking unit is also proposed to tune the operating frequency in response to changes in the coupling gap. With this resonant frequency tracking unit, the efficiency of the proposed CPT system can be maintained within 96.3%-91% for the coupling gap range of 0.25-2 mm.

This paper proposes a novel electric propulsion system for naval ships, which consists of Active Front End (AFE) converters directly connected to battery Energy Storage Modules (ESMs). Employing the proposed AFE converters with ESMs in the power systems of naval ships can enhance the reliability and quality of the electric power. Furthermore, the fuel-efficiency of the generator can be improved by a higher loading factor of the generator and its prime movers. The proposed AFE configuration does not require an additional dedicated DC/AC converter for the ESMs. Instead of that, the AFE converter itself can control the DC link voltage and the discharging and/or charging of the ESMs. A control scheme to achieve these control objectives is also presented in this paper. The overall power system, including the generators and electrical loads of a naval ship, is implemented by a small scaled Power Hardware-In-the-Loop (PHIL) simulator. Through this experimental setup, the proposed system configuration and the power control strategies are verified. It is shown that the fuel-efficiency and transient dynamics can be improved in the normal and contingency operation modes.

This paper utilizes free oscillation and energy injection principles to generate and control the high frequency current in the primary track of a contactless power transfer system. Here the primary power inverter maintains natural resonance while ensuring near constant current magnitude in the primary track as required for multiple independent loads. Such energy injection controllers exhibit low switching frequency and achieve ZCS (Zero Current Switching) by detecting the high frequency current, thus the switching stress, power losses and EMI of the inverter are low. An example full bridge topology is investigated for a contactless power transfer system with multiple pickups. Theoretical analysis, simulation and experimental results show that the proposed system has a fast and smooth start-up transient response. The output track current is fully controllable with a sufficiently good waveform for contactless power transfer applications.
This paper deals with the design and evaluation of the robust controller for a synchronous generator excitation system to improve the steady state and transient stability. The nonlinear characteristics of the system is treated as model uncertainties, and then the robust control techniques are introduced into the power system stability design to take into account these uncertainties at the controller design stage. The performance of the designed controller is examined by extensive non-linear time domain simulation. It is shown that the performance of the robust controller is superior to that of the conventional PI controller. This paper also proposes an improved digital exciter control system for a synchronized generator using a digitally designed controller with database. Results show that the proposed control system manifests excellent control performance compared to existing control systems. It has also been confirmed that it is easy for the proposed control system to implement digital control.

In this paper, we propose a design for an efficient hybrid LED street lighting management system using standalone solar photovoltaic. The proposed efficient hybrid LED street lighting management system was composed of hybrid power conditioning system, gateways, LED street lights and a monitoring server. The hybrid power conditioning system was designed to charge produced power by solar photovoltaic panels in day time, and supply power to the LED street lights in night time. If there is insufficient power, the system was designed to operate using firm power, because the system utilizes photovoltaic power. A system control algorithm allied to the lighting management system, and experimented by being configured to the functions that are able to perform real-time monitoring and remote control through the lighting management system even when absent. In the result of the efficiency analysis of the hybrid lighting management system proposed in this paper, we were able to increase the energy efficiency compared to existing lighting control systems by reducing power consumption and electricity costs.
