Design of broadband low noise balanced amplifier (광대역 저잡음 평형 증폭기 설계)

  • The balanced amplifier is a practical amplifier to, implement a broadband amplifier that has flat gain and good input and output VSWR. Three-stage amplifier design procedure usually divided into three partition satisfying the following requirements : low noise figure, high gain and high power output. FHX35LG HEMT device is used in the design can be obtained low noise figure at the first-stage, MGA82563 MMIC device is used in the design can be maintained high gain at the second-stage, and AHI MMIC device is used in the design can be required high power output at the third-stage. The results of three-stage balanced amplifier show that power gain is about 40㏈, noise figure is less than 1.2㏈ at operating frequency.

  • A switching power stage is a very nonlinear system because it has two or more operation modes in one switching cycle. To model a switching power stage, the state space averaging method has been developed. Though it allows a unified treatment of a large variety of switching power stages, the model it yields is always very nonlinear. So, it is required to linearize the averaged model. But it is well known that a controller for a nonlinear plant designed by the linearization frequently fails in showing satisfactory control performance. Hence it is very natural to try to design a nonlinear controller for a switching power stage. In design of a switching power system, nonlinear control approaches such as adaptive control and fuzzy control have been widely studied so far. In this research, a recently developed control method, time delay control is briefly studied and a design example for a ZVS PWM half bridge converter is given. The performance of the time delay controller is compared to its conventional counterpart, PI controller by computer simulations.

  • This paper proposes a new power-stage circuit that can be available for modularization of the power regulator which is used at the software-controlled unregulated bus system. And we analyze the proposed power-stage operation according to its operating modes and verify it by performing software simulation and hardware experiment using prototype. By constructing a parallel-module converter which is composed of proposed power-stages, we verify the operations and usefulness of the proposed power-stage.

  • 현재 폭넓은 시장을 형성하고 있는 LED는 전 세계적으로 이슈화 되고 있는 친환경 조명기기로 각광받고 있으며, 향후 조명 산업의 50% 이상 시장 점유율을 차지할 것으로 예상된다. 본 논문에서는 Analog Dimming을 이용하여 Single-stage LED 구동 회로를 제안한다. 제안된 회로는 기존 방식과 달리 DC/DC단이 없으므로 가격 경쟁력 및 높은 전력 변환 효율을 확보할 수 있고, 고조파 규제 만족을 위한 역률 보정 기능이 있으며 휘도를 선형적으로 제어할 수 있는 Analog Dimming 기능을 가지고 있다. 최종적으로 제안된 Single-stage LED 구동 회로의 동작 및 Analog Dimming 제어 기법을 소개하고, 시뮬레이션 및 40W급 시작품을 제작, 동작 실험을 통하여 그 타당성을 검증한다.

A Conduction Band Control AC-DC Buck Converter for a High Efficiency and High Power Density Adapter (고효율, 고전력밀도 아답터를 위한 도통밴드 제어 AC-DC 벅 컨버터)

  • This paper proposes a new control method for an AC-DC Buck converter which is utilized as a front-end converter of a 2-stage high power density adapter. In the conventional adapter applications, 2-stage configuration shows higher power transfer efficiency and higher power density than those of the single stage flyback converter. In the 2-stage AC-DC converter, the boost converter is widely used as a front-end converter. However, an efficiency variation between high AC line and low AC line is large. On the other hand, the proposed conduction band control method for a buck front-end converter has an advantage of small efficiency variation. In the proposed control method, switching operation is determined by a band control voltage which represents output load condition, and an AC line voltage. If the output load increasesin low AC line, the switching operation range is expanded in half of line cycle. On the contrary, in light load and high line condition, the switching operation is narrowed. Thus, the proposed control method reduces switching loss under high AC line and light load condition. A 60W prototype which is configured the buck and LLC converter with the proposed control method is experimented on to verify the validity of the proposed system. The prototype shows 92.16% of AC-DC overall efficiency and 20.19 W/in 3 of power density.

  • In the field of electric vehicles and AGVs, wireless power transfer (WPT) charging systems have been developed recently because of its convenience, reliability, and positive environmental impact due to cable and cord elimination. In this study, we propose a WPT charging system using a single stage AC-DC converter that can be reduced in size and weight and thus can ensure convenience. The proposed single-stage AC-DC converter can control a wide output voltage (36-54 VDC) within coupling ranges by using the variable link voltage applied to the WPT resonant circuit through phase-shifted modulation at a fixed switching frequency. Moreover, the input power factor and total harmonic distortion can be improved by using the proposed converter. A 1 kW prototype that can operate with an air gap range of 40-50 mm is fabricated and validated through experimental results and analysis.

  • This paper describes designs about the power system of KITSAT-4 satellite. The KITSAT-4 power system is mainly composed of power stage and control stage. The power stage is a 200〔W〕 buck converter and control stages are hardware controller and software controller The hardware controller is PPT(Peak Power Tracker), battery voltage controller and software controller is battery current controller and direct duty controller. So the operation of power system has many advantages in that it can select controller according to reliable control and precise control. The controller design methods are presented and the small signal analyses are performed to verify system stability.

  • This paper presents an X-band two-stage power amplifier using GaN-HEMT. Two-stage structure was adopted to take its high gain and simple inter-stage matching network. Based on a 3D EM simulation, the bond-wire inductance and the parasitic capacitance were predicted. By reducing bond-wire inductance, Q of the matching network is decreased and the bandwidth is improved. The implemented two-stage PA shows a power gain of more than 16 dB, saturated output power of more than 42.5 dBm, and a efficiency of more than 35 % in frequency range of 8.1~8.5 GHz with an operating voltage of 40 V.

  • A new single-stage/single-switched forward converter with magnetic coupled nondissipa-tive snubber is proposed. The proposed converter gives the good power factor correction (PFC), low current harmonic distortion, and tight output voltage regulation. The prototype shows the IEC 555-2 requirements are met satisfactorily with nearly unity power factor. This proposed converter with magnetic coupled nondissipative snubber is particularly suited for low power level power supply applications.

  • In this paper, we propose a new single-stage isolated switching power supply. The proposed converter reduces the diode conduction loss and offer both the high input Power factor and the direction conversion from the ac line to a dc output voltage.
