시니어 낙상예방을 위한 기능성 서포터 착용에 따른 근기능 및 균형감각과 피로회복에 미치는 영향 연구 (Impact of Wearing Functional Supporters that Prevent Seniors from Falling on Muscle Function, Sense of Balance, and Overcoming Fatigue)

  • Loss of leg muscle and muscle weakness, which are caused by aging, affect muscle function and sense of balance. As a way of preventing seniors from falling, we developed the idea of wearing functional supporters based on graduated compression technique and in the form of a taping supporter. Their impact on power, sense of balance, overcoming fatigue, and subjective wearing sensation was investigated. The following results were obtained. After wearing functional compression supporters, body temperature increased from 24.5 ± 0.5℃ to 26.3 ± 0.6℃. Calf size, which assesses the level of edema, decreased from 26.1 ± 1.8cm to 25.7 ± 1.8cm. The result of dynamic balance test, which helps estimate the fall prevention effect, increased from 6.4 ± 0.9sec to 7.1 ± 0.6sec. Lactate level, which indicates the level of fatigue, decreased from 8.1 ± 0.6mmol/L to 7.3 ± 0.8mmol/L. Standing long jump record, which assesses power, increased from 110.1 ± 3.1cm to 112.0 ± 2.8cm. Standing on one leg with eyes closed, which assesses sense of balance, increased from 4.2 ± 1.1sec to 6.5 ± 0.8sec. Ankle angle, which assesses joint stability, increased from 75.3 ± 4.0° to 80.1 ± 1.7°. In metabolism and physical performance testing, which assesses keep, the score increased from 26.3 ± 1.7 to 28.8 ± 1.2. Muscle supporting score, which assesses joint stability, increased from 7.3 ± 0.6 to 7.8 ± 0.4. In the category of body type, which assesses wearing sensation and body shaping function, the score increased from 5.7 ± 1.4 to 6.4 ± 1.2

Damage and deformation of new precast concrete shear wall with plastic damage relocation

  • To avoid premature damage to the connection joints of a conventional precast concrete shear wall, a new precast concrete shear wall system (NPSW) based on a plastic damage relocation design concept was proposed. Five specimens, including one monolithic cast-in-place concrete shear wall (MSW) as a reference and four NPSWs with different connection details (TNPSW, INPSW, HNPSW, and TNPSW-N), were designed and tested by lateral low-cyclic loading. To accurately assess the damage relocation effect and quantify the damage and deformation, digital image correlation (DIC) and conventional data acquisition methods were used in the experimental program. The concrete cracking development, crack area ratio, maximum residual crack width, curvature of the wall panel, lateral displacement, and deformed shapes of the specimens were investigated. The results showed that the plastic damage relocation design concept was effective; the initial cracking occurred at the bottom of the precast shear wall panel (middle section) of the proposed NPSWs. The test results indicated that the crack area ratio and the maximum residual crack width of the NPSWs were less than those of the MSW. The NPSWs were deformed continuously; significant distortions did not occur in their connection regions, demonstrating the merits of the proposed NPSWs. The curvatures of the middle sections of the NPSWs were lower than that of the MSW after a drift ratio of 0.5%. Among the NPSWs, HNPSW demonstrated the best performance, as its crack area ratio, concrete damage, and maximum residual crack width were the lowest.

  • 최근 차량의 연비규제 강화로 인해, 기존 내연기관의 차량 부품 구동방식이 유압방식 대신 전동방식으로 대체되어 가고 있다. 이러한 부품의 대표적인 예가, Electronic Power Steering(EPS)이며, 현재 대부분의 차량에 적용되고 있다. EPS의 핵심 부품으로서는 전동기가 있으며, EPS의 조향감 개선 및 진동/소음 저감을 위해 전동기의 Cogging torque 및 Torque Ripple 저감이 요구된다. 일반적으로 Cogging torque 및 Torque ripple을 저감하기 위해서, 고정자 또는 회전자에 스큐를 적용한다. 본 연구에서는 고정자에 스큐가 적용된 Bushless PMSM(Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor)의 설계 방법 및 해석방법에 대해 소개한다. 고정자 skew가 적용된 EPS용 PMSM에 대해 초기 설계를 진행하고, RSM(Response Surface Methodology)을 이용한 최적설계를 수행한다. 유한요소해석을 통해 역기전력, Inductance, Load torque 등의 성능을 확인한다. 마지막으로 시제품 제작 및 실험을 통해 설계 방법에 대한 신뢰성을 검증한다.

커먼레일 디젤기관에서 바이오디젤유(BDF 5%) 적용시의 내구특성 연구 (A Study on the Characteristics for Durability with Biodiesel Fuel(BDF 5%) in a Commercial Common Rail Diesel Engine)

  • Our environment is faced with serious problems related to the air pollution from automobiles in these days. In particular, the exhaust emissions of diesel engines are recognized as main causes of the air pollution. CRDI(common rail direct injection) diesel engine is widely used for the sake of minimization on exhaust emission. Because biodiesel fuel is a renewable and alternative fuel for diesel engine, its usability is expanded. In this study, a common rail diesel engine was run with 5% of biodiesel fuel(BDF 5%) more than 150 hours. Engine dynamometer testing was completed at regularly scheduled intervals to investigate the engine performance and exhaust emissions. The data of engine performance and exhaust emissions was sampled at 1 hour intervals for analysis. When a common rail diesel engine runs on BDF 5% for long time, power and energy consumption of the engine are similar to the case using diesel fuel. The smoke emission of BDF 5% was reduced in comparison with diesel fuel, that is, it was reduced approximately 15% at 4000rpm, and load of 90%. And, CO and $CO_2$ were reduced, too. On the other hand, NOx emission of biodiesel fuel was slightly increased about 2%, but it was almost same as a commercial diesel fuel.

  • BLUs are major component in LCD industry which occupies 90% or more of FPD market worldwide and BLU market is expected to be expanded continuously according to the trend of miniaturization, slimness, low power consumption and low weight. The larger the BLU market scale, the more important standardization of performance evaluation techniques to clearly prescribe the product specification. Currently the government is promoting the establishment of related laws and coincidence with international standards to cope with agreements such as WTO/TBT, but the nongovernmental standardization activities are not enough to be actualized. Furthermore, BLU related components such as CCFL, EEFL, inverter and reflector are already developed for localization to substitute imports with home products but collective standardization, national standardization, and international standardization are still not done. So, performance specifications and evaluation methods for normal fluorescent lamps or industrial lamps are being adopted and used as national standards and safety certification standards instead. Making these standards enables to prepare a chance to penetrate into global market and to promote world best products. Also, by making this collective standard, it provides chances to take part in international standardization activities, to protect domestic industries and technologies, to obtain the trend of advanced technologies, and to be predominant over other countries. That is to say, CCFL standardization helps raise 21st century national strategic technology policy and go ahead of globalization of core technologies.

웨이브렛 변환 평면에서 적응 필터를 이용한 초음파 비파괴검사의 스펙클 잡음 감소 (Speckle Noise Reduction of Ultrasonic NDT Using Adaptive Filter in WT Domain)

  • 발전소와 같은 산업 시설물들은 높은 온도와 압력 등의 환경 하에서 지속적으로 안전하게 동작하는 것이 중요하다. 초음파를 이용한 비파괴 검사는 효율적이고 간편하기 때문에 이러한 시설물의 구조적 결함이나 안전성을 조사하기 위해 널리 이용되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 불 균일한 배질의 산란 입자들에 의해 생기는 스펙클 잡음을 제거하기 위하여 웨이브렛 변환 평면(wavelet transform domain)에서 LMS 알고리즘을 적용하였다. 사용한 신호의 통계적 특성을 알기 위하여 RUN 테스트를 수행하여 신호가 비정상성을 나타냄을 보였고, WTLMS 알고리즘을 사용하여 잡음을 제거한 후 입력 자기상관 행렬의 condition number 및 독립 입력과 지연된 입력 각각에 대한 출력의 신호 대 잡음비, 그리고 3차원 영상의 관점에서 LMS 알고리즘과 비교하였다. 실험 결과 웨이브렛 변환 평면에서 LMS 알고리즘을 이용해 수행한 결과가 시평면에서 수행한 결과보다 우수한 성능을 나타내었다.

  • IEEE802.15.4 체계의 USN 센서노드 무선통신부에 내장하기 위한 5.0GHz 광대역 RF 주파수 합성기를 $0.18{\mu}m$ 실리콘 CMOS 기술을 이용하여 설계하였다. 고속 저잡음 특성을 얻기 위하여 VCO, 프리스케일러, 1/N 분주기, ${\Sigma}-{\Delta}$ 모듈레이터 분수형 분주기, PLL 공통 회로 등의 설계 최적화에 중점을 두고 설계하였으며, 특히 VCO는 N-P MOS 코어 구조 및 12단 캡 뱅크를 적용하여 고속 저전력 및 광대역 튜닝 범위를 확보하였다. 설계된 칩의 크기는 $1.1*0.7mm^2$이며, IP로 활용하기 위한 코어 부분의 크기는 $1.0*0.4mm^2$이다. 2가지 종류의 주파수합성기를 설계한 다음 모의실험을 통하여 비교 분석해 본 결과 일부 특성만 개선한다면 IP로써 사용하는데 문제가 없을 것으로 나타났다.

Performance evaluation on Fault Current Controller System for the Applications of Smart Grid

  • This paper presents simulation and small-scale experimental tests of a fault current controller. Smart fault controller as proposed and proven conceptually in our previous work is promising technology for the smart power grid where distributed and even stochastic generation sources are prevalent and grid operations are more dynamic. Existing protection schemes simply limiting the fault current to the pre-determined set values may not show best performance and even lead to coordination failures, potentially leading to catastrophic failure. Thus, this paper designs fault current controller with a full bridge thyristor rectifier, embedding a superconducting coil for which the controller is electrically invisible during normal operation because the loss due to the coil is near-zero. When a fault occurs and the resulting current through the superconducting coil exceeds a certain value set intelligently based on the current operating condition of the grid, the magnitude of the fault current is controlled to this desired value by adjusting the firing angles of thyristors such that the overall system integrity is successfully maintained. Detailed time-domain simulations are performed and lab-scale testing circuits are built to demonstrate the desired functionality and efficacy of the proposed fault current controller.

응축기용 낮은 핀관의 내부 나선 홈에 의한 응축 열전달 성능과 압력손실에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Condensation Heat Transfer and Pressure Drop in Internally Grooved Tubes Used in Condenser)

  • Heat transfer performance improvement by fin and groovs is studied for condensation of R-11 on integral-fin tubes. Eight tubes with trapczodially shaped integral-fins having fin density from 748 to 1654fpm(fin per meter) and 10, 30 grooves are tested. A plain tube having the same diameter as the finned tubes is also used for comparison. R-11 condensates at saturation state of 32 $^{\circ}C$ on the outside tube surface coded by inside water flow. All of test data are taken at steady state. The heat transfer loop is used for testing singe long tubes and cooling is pumped from a storage tank through filters and folwmeters to the horizontal test section where it is heated by steam condensing on the outside of the tubes. The pressure drop across the test section is measured by menas pressure gauge and manometer. The results obtained in this study is as follows : 1. Based on inside diameter and nominal inside area, overall heat transfer coefficients of finned tube are enhanced up to 1.6 ~ 3.7 times that of a plain tube at a constant Reynolds number. 2. Friction factors are up to 1.6 ~ 2.1 times those of plain tubes. 3. The constant pumping power ratio for the low integral-fin tubes increase directly with the effective area to the nominal area ratio, and with the effective area diameter ratio. 4. A tube having a fin density of 1299fpm and 30 grooves has the best heat transfer performance.

Diagnostic performance of enzyme-linked immnosorbent assays for diagnosing paratuberculosis in cattle: a meta-analysis

  • To evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of two commercial ELISA tests (Allied- and CSL-ELISA) for the diagnosis of Mycobacterium paratuberculosis in cattle, Meta-analysis using English language papers published during 1990-2001 was performed. Diagnostic odds ratios (DOR) were analyzed using regression analysis together with summary receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves. The difference in diagnostic performance between the two ELISA systems was evaluated by using linear regression. Publication bias was assessed by funnel plot and linear regression. The pooled sensitivity and specificity were 44% (95% CI, 38 to 51) and 98% (95% CI, 96 to 99) for the random-effect model. The DOR between studies was heterogeneous. The area under the fitted ROC curve (AUC) was 0.72 for the unweighted and 0.77 for the weighted model. Maximum joint sensitivity and specificity for the unweighted and weighted model from their summary ROC curve were 70% and 75%, respectively. Based on the fitted model, at a specificity of 95%, sensitivity was estimated to be 52% for the unweighted and 57% for the weighted model. From the final multivariable model study characteristic, the country was the only significant variable with an explained component variance of 13.3%. There were no significant differences in discriminatory power, sensitivity, and specificity between the two ELISA tests. The overall diagnostic accuracy of two commercial ELISA tests was moderate, as judged by the AUC, maximum joint sensitivity and specificity, and estimates from the fitted model and clinical usefulness of the tests for screening program is limited because of low sensitivity and heterogeneous of DOR. It is, therefore, recommended to use ELISA tests as a parallel testing with other diagnostic tests together to increase test sensitivity in the screening program.
